  1. Honestly I'm surprised Paccar is hanging onto the "classic" look at all anymore. I supposed there's still enough sales to justify building them, but I go past the local Love's at least twice daily and it seems there's fewer of them each day.
  2. I don't care for the slant on the top of the headlight housings but the rest looks okay. We have to come out of the 70's at some point.
  3. Not to worry, we're talkin' about it so it's conversational! Nice looking rig, you can never go wrong with a Pete!!!
  4. I've used all sorts of things for tanks (and other parts) over the years. I think the weirdest thing I used was for a 1/8-scale Corvette Grand Sport...I used plastic parts from hummingbird feeders I saw in Walmart to replicate the quarter panel vents! Lol! What I'm working on right now is just a small build so the kit tanks will suffice.
  5. The Moebius 53' trailer is also being reissued.
  6. Are the steer tires in the new set standard ones or hi-floats? They almost look to me like they could be floats...
  7. I've already picked up a few of the yellow Z51 Vettes. I noticed the price ticked up a buck this year to $14.98 but still an incredible bargain. Finally seeing the Maisto displays there is like Christmas in July! The only drawback is they put the displays 2 or sometimes 3 deep so the back ones aren't always accessible. I'm hoping Maisto does one in the new Sebring Orange but it's doubtful.
  8. Ryan Mlynek is the best, his seller ID is rhino9905. He doesn't have anything listed right now but I'm sure you can contact him.
  9. Perfect, thanks Brian! Guess I'll have to relieve Hobby Lobby of one of their Freightliner kits this weekend.
  10. Can someone please tell me how long the fuel tanks are on the AMT White Freightliner COE? I'm assuming the DD and SD use the same tanks. Thanks!
  11. Polished aluminum drop visors and Texas bumpers are usually available from a couple different Ebay sellers. Not so much on the drop axles there, you'd probably have scratch build those. I did see drop axles for the Italeri Pete 378 on a truck model parts site last year but I never saw them again. I wish I'd grabbed those when I saw them.
  12. Would be nice if Hobby Lobby carried them.
  13. For the minimal cost it's definitely worth giving it a go. Work is nutso-crazy right now so my building time is limited but I'll be hitting Hobby Lobby sometime in the next couple of weeks to grab some. I'm also hoping they've gotten rid of their seemingly endless supply of the Freightliner DD reissues from years ago and made room for some of the new reissues coming out.
  14. Great build and interesting subject matter! You've gotten me curious about the Molotow pen, I might have to give it a try. Short of sending parts off to Chrome Tech I've never found anything that even comes close to chrome. Alclad, Spaz Stix, chrome paints, etc. just end up being "shiny silver" which is fine for an aluminum look, but the real chrome look seems to only be achievable with kit chrome parts or using a chroming service, with BMF being a cheaper alternative on certain parts.
  15. Great work, looks like it's done some back-country haulin'!
  16. It's probably wishful thinking that these would show up at Hobby Lobby. All my HLs seem to be Freightliner dealerships...they still carry the reissued FL COEs from several years ago and now they have the latest SD/DD kits too!
  17. It might take him a while to catch up but that's a very cool build!
  18. I considered windows but I had the same thoughts...most drivers probably want privacy. Another consideration for me on this particular model is that windows would interrupt the paint lines. I think we should petition PPG, Duplicolor, etc., to offer JT Orange as an official paint color. The paint code would have to be something in the 77379-77389 range!
  19. Thanks for that Cary. I checked Jamie's site and no drop axles, but I'm guessing that being more for the custom crowd rather than stock builders they probably didn't sell well.
  20. I found a website last year that sold drop axles for the Italeri Peterbilt 378 kit but I can't recall what the site was. I wish I could find it.
  21. Looking at it I'm wondering if I shouldn't pop the reefer unit off and paint the bottom half white to match the rest of the paint scheme. Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in! JT, good to hear from you man! This place has been missing it's orange, can you help?
