Did not even know these were reissued! I built one in 2005 with the Buyers Choice on a long weekend. Great little kit over all! That reminds me, I have to finish foiling it...........

Thank you guys! I was watching The Rockford Files and James Garner was being tailed by a '74 Caprice in silver and black. That body style looks so proper in silver! Ron: I have NEVER seen a Spirt Of America done in scale form. It is on my list of many cars I would like to do myself. On the B-body form I am on, someone had a bllue one of these. I guess the blue ones are more rare than the white. And the wheels look like they are for the Suburbans and Blazers, could be taken from Monograms pick up truck kits. I'm jealous you have a '72 Impala, LOL! I have been looking for a '71 and a '72 since I was a teenager. Always a day late or a dollar short! One of my next projects is a '74 Kingswood. I have an untouched '74 kit with a roof that is warped and the pillar on one side is mangled to the point of no return. This is the kit I took the interior tub out from for my '76 (graving was better on the side panels, wrong style for the year but better to work with). So I have on the way a '73 Kingswood from The Modelhaus and I want to change the front clips over and somehow make the 5mph rear bumper. This will be one of the biggest projects I have taken on, let alone most expensive.

This project is going on years to finish. Soon as I get the funds or use someone elses air brush set to paint the hand made roof rack with Alcald, she can continue being built. The 1970 Ford LTD Country Squire is being built to mirror my 1977 Country Squire I had and restored in college between 2005 to 2008. After all the hard work of bringing back the '77 alive, she met her fate in a strange accident the same day I graduated from college in the spring of 2008. My '77 that I restored in college.

SSNJim: The color is Testors Lacquer Phoenician Yellow (1964). I can not find any spray can to save my life at Hobby Lobby or Hobby Town. I have a few shots left of the color but I need more to do the bumper between the body and bumper. This color was darn near spot on to my '76. Wish I took some pictures of my real '76 while I had it.

The Lincolns from this era are truly rolling art. Black on red, mmmmmmmm, perfect!

Thank you guys for the comments! I have always liked the LTD line up, all have been loyal cars to me. Thus why I am on my 5th, wish I never sold my '76 four door. Could put the c/c on at 80, a/c pumpin on I-80 while on 80 in Neb, she would never give me a lick of an issue. I like the looks I get when people ask me, a guy my age thats a Euro car tech, "yup, I drive that" (pointing to the LTD, Thunderbird, Roadmaster, Monte Carlo, or something BIG and commanding).

Thank you for the warm welcome guys!

Back to the Hobby after 15 years - 41' Willy's Gasser

And use the EasyOff outside or a REALLY well ventilated area...........man, that stuff can knock ya right out! I have also used brake fluid on plastic before with great results. -
As you can see in my avitar, I am a full size Ford owner. My first Ford LTD based on the '69 to '78 platform was a '76 brougham that I bought from the original owner in '98 for $1,190 in Laramie, Wyoming (tech school). So when I saw this kit, I bought two right of way. This one I am mirroring my '76 down to the "halo" style top. This has been on the work bench for almost two years. I kept blowing through the clear coat and paint wet sanding the hump in the hood. Now I ran out of paint and Testors dose not make that color anymore, trying to figure out my next move. These are my first kits from Missing Link Resin. Now that he has a '73 Chevrolet Chevelle, a '71 Galaxie, and a hard top '72 Olds Cutlass body, my list keeps growing. As soon as I get funds going (work has been soooooooooo sloooooooooow), I want to place my orders with Missing Link. The quality is up there with Modelhaus and Replicas And Minitures.

I built one of these when I was about 13. One of the few I have left of what I built then and one of the only kits I made that the black paint came out nice (for a 13 year old kid). I found it in a box when my mom moved, cleaned it up, polished her up and redressed the inside. For some reason I thought rust red seats and tan floors were a good idea. So I fixed that to. It is a BASIC kit, like it was built more as a toy than anything else. I don't think its a true 1:24th scale, dwarfs my '70s cars like they are GEO Metros.

Ohhhhh, shes a sweet one!

As requested Tom: And my '76 Monte Carlo. Casey: I still have one waiting to be built but I can always add another one.......

Awhile back my computer figured it had enough, had it for college and before then. Hard drive went bye bye. So I lost everything. What a pain in the butt! LoL! I figured I would come back here in time but with life, a career taking off and then vanishing, things have been busy. I was under the name "FordWagonNut" a few years ago but now I have another long roof, a '73 Buick Century, '76 Monte Carlo and my daily driver a 1995 Buick Roadmaster. Still, my heart belongs to the long roofs in general. I build mostly '60s and '70s land barges but if it has wheels, all odds I'm gona like it! Most of my personal subjects are cars I could have seen owning myself when new if I were alive. I like the odd ball stuff, wagons, four doors, plain types and things you would have seen daily driven. Pleasure to meet all of you and happy modeling!

Back to the Hobby after 15 years - 41' Willy's Gasser
LongRoofNut replied to Chickenfoot's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I started building in the mid '80s when my dad brought me to a hobby shop and bought me a JoHan '79 Cadillac Coupe DeVille. With the ups and downs of life, college, girls, real full size cars, sure I slow down almost to a stop but I always come back. -
Thank you everyone for the kind words. I have always liked the '71 to '76 "big" Caprice/Impala line up. Sure were commanding cars on the road. I have the Modelhaus '73 Kingswood that I have had for a few years but still have not built that one and a '73 promo that needs a nice resto. I have another '73 Kingswood on order to do a '74 front clip conversion. Helix: Yes that is a London Taxi. I built it when I was 13-14 years old. One of very few I have left from when I was a kid. Somehow by what grace, the black came out darn near perfect. So this time around I just did a gentle clean up and adjusted a few things. CrazyGirl: The interiour dye is by Dupli Color for 1:1 cars. It is ment for vinyl and fabric. However I used the black dye on my real '76 Monte Carlo, it makes the carpet stiff but works great on the models. You can find this stuff at Advance, Auto Zone, Pep Boys or just about any well stocked auto parts store. Just mist on a few light coats. Ron: I looked at some of my materal I had collected and saw some pictures with and without the trim. I don't know if it was bad editing, a model change or what. I see the '73 promo has the raised area for the stainless steel trim but '74, '75 and the '76 did not. By the way Ron, your work is inspiring. Charlie: Yes I am back! It has been a long time! My computer took a poop, lost everything and I figured in time I would get around to coming back. Once you get into this hobby, it will always follow you and bring you right back in.

About 10 years ago ( I think ) when the reissue came out, I picked up a few. I built one right away in cream and tan. I liked the color combo but was never happy with my paint work. So it sat 99% finished for almost, well 10 years. Got tired of looking at it and was gona just do a repaint..............needless to say it became a full resto. I went with the three part Testors lacquer system, wet sanded it and hand buffed with automotive buffing compunds and waxes. The interior was done using automotive dye, flocked, added floor mats, and a turn signal stalk/gear lever. White wall tires came from American Satco (last ones I had left). The half top and side trim was done also using the same automotive dye for the inside. Other than trying to find the right style outside rear view chrome mirrors, photo etch scripts and a set of plates, shes pretty much done.

So I was at a swap meet a few weeks ago looking for tail lamps for a '75 Cutlass. Found a nice clean built up (no glue used) for the road hugging price of $3.00. I did not have the heart to just use it for the lights, so I gave it some new life and was a test for using spray can automotive Dupli Color paint. So far I like the results. It's just a quick build. Automotive primer, four coats of Ford Hunter Green from Dupli Color and four coats of clear from Testors lacqure system. Then wet sanded and polished. I added a few bits here in there inside. Now I still have to find lamps for the kit I had already been looking for!

'77 International Scout II
LongRoofNut replied to realgone58's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Looks just like it was rolling down the street in main street America cira 1979. -
Nice and clean build. I am on my third Ford from that body style (the one I am pictured with on my avitar) and have loved them all. I have two Missing Link LTDs, one is being made into a '76 brougham I had while in tech school around 1998 and the other when I have the skills to make it into a Country Squire like mine.
