  1. Too many things look real, if it's a model you've fooled me! My vote is for REAL.
  2. It's been a long time since I played! This was a fun search! Thanks........
  3. A reduced photo of a keyboard could be added to a fairly simple plastruct shape to be convincing. Modeling a set of drums from paper wouldn't be too difficult, depending on the details you added. Shim stock brass could be shaped for cymbals. Stands from plastruct and metal rod and you're set. I know you can buy a large scale set, never run across a 1/25 version, though.
  4. I voted and I promise not to break the rules again! (I say model)
  5. RE. Only suckers pay retail.... I pay retail because I enjoy supporting the local hobby shop. If I buy from a discount source, I get to pay for shipping. It would sure be uncool to have no hobby shop on an island in the middle of the ocean, wouldn't it?
  6. Guess mine won't be the only Mig-3! Check my linkie near the bottom of pg.6 for a cool reference site for the Mig-3. Got the cockpit finished after some serious mods to the pilots' posterior so he would 'behave' and keep his head inside the canopy. Project on hold until Aug.20.
  7. Reissue or not - I was really disappointed when I opened the tin and instead of some cool new tampo printed tires it was the plastic two piece originals. The chrome on the spokes for Dragula was completely 'flashed' where the spokes meet the rim. Lots of cute little cardboard pieces that didn't do anything for me either. The picture book was cool, though. At $50, I was not pleased - so much less value than the Fiat Double dragster kit! This will be a builder, and I won't feel bad about not packing it away for collectible future.
  8. Wow! What a relief, much better than Aug.22! (much better than Sept.5 Labor Day, too). I might even finish this challenge! Thanks for clearing things up, Sir. Now if I can figure out how to post photos I'll be 'flyin'!
  9. I'd say go for it. I'd be thinkin' engine in the front with the transaxle at the rear including the Ferrari rear suspension. Hey! why not use the front suspension, too? Incorporate the interior to whatever degree the body width allows. I think it would be difficult to make the Ferrari rims look good, especially the width of the front tires seems wrong for '32, (but sans fenders they might work). Probably need to be totally slammed stance, maybe operational bags. It would most certainly need to be painted Ferrari red. WAIT!!............ Is that a wolf outside? WOLF! WOLF! (just thinkin' of a story I heard)!
  10. Jairus, Could I beg for a date of Labor Day Sept. 5 as the end of summer? If not, what does your calendar say is the official day. I thought I heard you mention Aug. 22 when we talked last week. Status of my build - bodywork on the gun removal is complete - the cockpit and pilot, (I modified a 1/32 Apache helo figure) are nearing completion - still trying to decide if I try and incorporate the Russian star, (Mig lineage) or go Nascar/F-1 for the graphics. Also gotta fit in a 2 week trip to Oregon Aug.3-Aug.19 which really messes with the build schedule.
  11. It is making me smile to hear the purists cringing at the suggestion of an engine swap! Our club has a few guys that are really into Ferrari and I think they'd cringe, too. I also have a difficult time leaving a build stock. Continue the mods and remember "it's plastic, man"!
  12. Sorry All! Being unfamiliar with the rules, it won't happen again. I guess I'll have to be more careful - I usually behave pretty well. I usually post on totalruckus.com and we tend to play around and even talk bad on occasion! I enjoy this site and the variety of ideas and help it offers. Gregg is just a couple valleys over and we are in the same club here in Honolulu.
  13. Summer school ends this Friday. Summer starts Saturday. I've removed the guns from the Mig. Have to get the interior (oops - cockpit) in so that bodywork can begin. Gotta find a driver, (oops - pilot) cause I don't photoshop. How can I get a big blast of exhaust smoke for my ground shot?
  14. Not True! Gregg offends me nearly every time I see him. :-) I'm a very sensitive old man........
  15. Rich Robertson

  16. As you can see by the number of posts from me, I haven't 'played' on this forum much. Sorry to have upset you, that wasn't the goal. I'll go play somewhere else. Have a wonderful day. Rich Robertson - Honolulu, HI
  17. Mark T and Highway, I'll rephrase to make it clear. It's real and I found the proof. Sorry to be such a spoiler, but I was SO excited I just couldn't help myself!
  18. You are SO busted on this one! I just did a Google image search for 1978 Camaro Z28. Betcha can't even guess what the VERY FIRST image is! I vote FAIL!
  19. I really enjoyed the Offy on Ebay! I really think that's the direction to go with TDR. I like the suspension set-ups, but resist because of the extensive effort to clean 'em up. The cleaned up engine was very difficult NOT to bid on! I saw the Mustang body that Gregg is working on today, and I thought you had made the roll cage, too! Good stuff, keep it coming.
  20. Jairus, good to talk to you today! Gregg brought his plane to the meeting and it caused quite a lot of interest. I'm going to jump in with a Soviet Mig-3. I'm listing a site so all of you can check it out. The model is a Trumpeter 1/32 scale. http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/mig3/mig3.html Got it taped up and looks like I might be able to get it done in time!
  21. I'm enjoying reading all the reactions to the builds. Seems some folks are having a tough time with the rear fender location I chose for the build I did. I like the look - I don't drive it in the rain, (actually on display at a local hobby shop). I think the best idea would be for all of you to go buy a couple and build 'em the way YOU like. You might like to see what I did with my entry for our clubs' sprint car challenge. I like to build outside the 'box' and at sixty years old, I just don't get upset if someone doesn't like it.
  22. Just found the thread...it's been awhile since I visited the forum. I'm totally diggin' your ideas, and the details kick butt! I'm definitely gonna have to steal some of your ideas!
  23. Okay, I voted for the green one, but I'm wondering about rear body clearance at the tire. Is it mounted to the chassis or just resting on the tire? Maroon is second, flaw is the blacking in the grill and plug wire size. Third is the black roadster in street trim, even though no plug wires.
