  1. Had a good time with this car. It's 1963 Lola Mk4 with a Beardog chassis with scratch built suspension, springs and shocks. The body is by FF Models. Lots of little scratch built parts on this car, even the windshield is held on by miniature rivets. Happy New Year lads!
  2. Unfortunately it will be raced but carefully. Thanks guys
  3. I enjoyed looking at these cars. Lovely detail. Brilliant!
  4. Here's a new one I've just finished. It's a vintage 1/32 Monogram Ferrari 250 LM slot body (with some small changes) and a beautiful scratch built brass chassis by Jairus. I felt that the chassis needed to be painted matt black to fit with the car better. It also has Racer wire wheels which sets the car off well.
  5. again - great work - the paint looks great.
  6. outstanding work - paint looks great - good photos
  7. Cheers mate - here's one of the photoshopped photos (big)
  8. Thanks mate here's a big photo of the car
  9. Real nice model brother - I had to take that blue out the background - it's amazing what photoshop will do. I'm thinking of making a slot car out of this model or a least a 1/24 F1 car - should be fun. I'll need to do scratch build (light) metal wings for strength and with the ability of these wings coming off easy if the car comes off the track.Shouyld be a fun project
  10. I'm not sure. sorry brother. There was a 4 page and front cover write up with pictures on this car in one of the model car magazines but I can't remember which one. I'll look for it and hopefully it will give us the info on how long it took to build.
  11. I thought you guys may want to see this car. I bought this off ebay about 5 years ago. It's a 1/12 scale McLaren MP4/6 Honda by Tamiya and built by legendary master modeler Andy Matthews from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Lots of scratch built parts and milling going on here. Amazing detail and of course, it's the last car Senna won the world title in. It was a lot of fun shooting this car and I also did some photoshop work showing the motor through the cowling. Enjoy
  12. You're right Ed., It's just a Chaparral 2 and no "C" - Thanks mate
  13. Cheers Rich - Yes we used Magnets on the 2 wings. We used Velcro at first but the wings were a little unstable and thats when we thought of magnets. The wings clip in nicely and are very stable and come off without any problems if the car takes a dive.
  14. Thanks Ed - I was one year old then. I do wish sometimes I was around then for the slot car maddness that went on in the 60's. Must of been a great time. Cheers Ed
  15. Running this car is not a problem. I've added a lot of clear coat for protection. After a while I'll just compound the scratches out and in most cases the car looks new again. I've even stripped a car down and re-cleared it and polished. It works out great.
  16. great car - I like the paint
  17. The chassis was made by Jairus Watson and the car was painted by me.
  18. Great work Ben - I love the fogging effect on the windows and lights - great eye for detail. I love your posts brother Ben
  19. Here are some pictures of a Vintage 1/24 Monogram 40 Ford Pick-Up slot car that I just finished recently. The top photos show the start of the project and then the finish. I used some Monogram wheels from a Tiger chassis because I felt they looked better and I made the wheel inserts. This was a difficult project to start but it ended pretty well.
  20. pretty amazing detail - you can see all the fun you had in doing these models. Great creative work Thanks for sharing
  21. Just finished painting this Sprint car and unfortunately the decals were real bad so I had to have a plan "B". I decided to go all out for a fantasy car. Marlboro came to mind so I went for it. Below is a description along with pictures showing how the sprint car was built up by Jairus using a Monogram 1/24 scale kit and of course the final painted car. We did make changes to the car. Instead of using velcro for the front and top wing we ended up using strong magnets because they held the wind much better and if the car ever came off the track the parts come off with no problem. Jairus also reinforced the front of the car by extending the brass rod frame. As you can see in the pictures the car comes apart pretty easy so you can have access to the chassis and motor. I think if we ever do another sprint car we will go with a metal top wing and that would make it last a good beating on the track. So here is the Malboro Sprint car from start to finish with Jairus to describe. Chassis is built up from brass rod and a cut up steel womp chassis.... this is the first mockup. Mounts for the wing attached. Rear bumper. Finished chassis, elapsed time: 8 hours to this point. Final mockup. Time to fuss with the driver and other details, Onward and upward! Got the frame painted this morning. Since the name of this build is "Sprintcar" went with a 9/33 gear ratio. With wheels and motor carefully installed. Time to turn attention to the body work and related details... Final mockup before sending out to the painter. The finished car
  22. Hi Ed - Thanks for the kind words. Here's a link to a Chaparral 2C page about the 2C - I think you are thinking of the later model of this car. This 2C (the one I did) is an early version. http://books.google.com/books?id=tMX3L_-zZ...02C&f=false
  23. This is an original "Bud Anderson" 1/32 IMC Pontiac Grand Prix slot car body with a beautiful hand built chassis by Jairus. I used Tamiya TS-15 Blue on this car and finished her off with some bare metal.
