  1. My front tires snapped together nicely, the back ones...no matter how many times i reasemble them always come out wobbly...
  2. Yep, I was there. We had to make 3 trips out to the car because we kept circling the room and buying more kits than we could carry.
  3. The three things i got off ebay arrived earlier than expected. It was a wonderful surprise today!
  4. I recently went to my first swap meet but didn't have a complete model to enter. Now by the time the next one comes around I should have a couple different ones to enter and see how I do. I'd be interested in getting feedback and tips on how to get better.
  5. While soaking my truck in the bin of paint shame, i decided to start this kit. It is the Revell Monogram kit. My first impression is that there is too much chrome for my taste... oh well. Engine came together pretty quick.
  6. Well, i put the matte finish on and tried my hand at waterslide decals. Waiting on glue for the windows...until then i would call it 98% finished...
  7. I've been working on this kit off and on... got to a point where I just couldn't make up my mind about how to paint certain aspects... Interior is complete, seats have been attached... now I'm just trying to find my confidence in applying my decals to the dash... once that's done then the car is almost complete. In the mean time I started a 50's chevy truck... that has been its own challenge!
  8. The interior looks great! I hope mine turns out just as well.
  9. I had typed up a nice description but my cell phone bugged out and deleted it all. I've got the engine mounted and my suspension in place. I had some issues with the tires and getting them on all the way... the front tires are a little wobbly and in trying to force them on I popped some of my other glued parts off... so, some repair work had to be done. The body has its first coat of flat black. I've sanded it and will be doing a second coat. I'm also trying to finalize my ideas for the interior. I want to make it look good so I'm trying to narrow down my options. The seats look like they're set up to look better in two-tones... and I'm trying to decide on the best way to take care of the dash... More pictures coming after I get my floor and interior done!
  10. Yep, jeepgirl and i spent a boatload and had to make two trips to the car. Next time im bringing a few bags!! Pucked up a ton of stuff and then of course stopped in at the local shop to get some new colors.
  11. Wow! That looks amazing!! Every build i look at just inspires me more!
  12. I deviated from the listed engine colors... mostly because I didn't want a gold engine... not being too familiar with them I just decided to stick with gloss black, flat black and flat steel... hopefully the engine will still look good enough. Here is a picture of what I've got glued together so far... I think after I get most of it together I'll do some touch ups on the paint, since it appears I was a tad too impatient and it was slightly sticky when I was picking up the main section.
  13. Well, after getting frustrated with the WWII Jeep that Jeepgirl and I started... I've picked another victim... a 49' Merc... I love the look of the body. I've been taking my time and reading a lot in the forums before I even opened the kit. So far I've sanded some of the mold lines on the body and scribed out the door panels a little. I did my first set of primed parts this morning... first time I've ever used primer! I have a ton to learn so any feedback would be great. I just snapped a couple pictures with my phone to document my build. The next steps will have better pictures!
  14. Looks amazing! I love the color! I'm a sucker for purple!
  15. Awesome! I am working on a 49' Merc right now. Still have a lot to learn about modeling before i go cutting things apart.
  16. I'm really digging the green color... would never have thought to test out the paint on plastic spoons! What a great idea!!
  17. This looks amazing! I'm working on a 49' Merc and really only getting started in the hobby. I probably won't venture into making cuts and modifying as you have but hopefully I'll get there some day! Looking forward to the updates!
  18. Hello from Oregon! I live with Jeepgirl and in an attempt to find a hobby that interested me... I got her addicted to models! I remember one of the first model's I worked on... I know that I was young, probably between 8 and 12. I think that it was just a snap-together kit. It was a model of the late 80's Batmobile. Now, I had no real interest in Batman but I loved the look of the car. We had gotten the WWII Jeep that Jeepgirl finished and I had intially started the work on it... well... I got stuck on getting some of the pieces together and gave up. I'm trying my hand again with something a little different. For my first project I'll be working on a 1949 Mercury Custom Coupe from Revell (Kit 2860). I'm still trying to make up my mind on paint colors and the final look of the car. I was wondering something fairly basic though... when you get a model and you take it out of the box for the first time... what do you do? Do you start looking at the assembly directions and take it apart piece by piece or do you paint pieces, let them dry and then start? I want to get started on this Merc but I don't know if I should start the small parts first or not? Looking forward to posting photos of my attempt! I'm dragging Jeepgirl to this swap meet next week, hopefully that'll provide some inspiration.
