  3. Hi all This is just a fun project as a relaxation from my other projects. This one will be build up only from old parts and spare parts. Well at least I will try to do it like this. Last year while I was looking for truck pics in the internet I find some of old fleet trucks which are used as so called “yard mules”. They got a lifting fifth wheel and a second life moving trailers around. That is the idea behind the project. I started with an old build. It is a Mack DM 600 hood and cab on an Italeri frame started as a logging truck. I was not happy with that build so it is perfect for a second start. The parts: Engine, AMT’s Detroit diesel changed into a six cylinder version. Frame and axels from Italeri. Transmission and rear springs, resin parts from the spare box. The tire and rims are from Revell. The rest, well from here and there. The used model was started with a normal frame from Italeri, built it together and placed the cab on it. It looks grate but it’s not very realistic, a strait frame not very common for Mack. The whole thing wasn’t that what it should be, not a Mack That was the truck: I lowered the front springs, spread the frame in the front to make it more Mack like and shorted the frame for a single axel version. After the frame was changed the hood had to be hinged again to fit to the wider frame. The engine a Detroit Diesel 8V-71 from AMT was changed into a 6 cylinder version and with a Mack transmission it was placed into the frame. With some small modifications everything fits quiet well. I know many of the Mack enthusiasts will be a bit disappointed of an DD in a Mack. But as the whole truck is build up from spare and used parts I would say the DD is grate.
  4. Hallo all thanks a lot for your grate remarks, it is grate to read that you like this littel girl. It was a lot of fun building up this one. I did some research for the engine and I think I find out that the bigger Dodge pick ups and the smaler trucks so it fits quite well to the chevy. so long Arnd
  5. Hallo I have a mack f cab from aitm which I bought 3 or 4 years a go and I was verry thick as you mentioned In tried to rework it but it is not the way I want it so it is parked in the backyard. I bought a Hayes cab last year and it is the same thick as AMT cabs. So in my oppinion it depends of who and when the cabs were or are made but just ask Dave. so long Arnd
  6. Hi all Nice build. This littel one looks verry well done. By the way single axel pets are they rare? I am thinking about samething like this for a long time but never started it. So long Arnd
  7. Hi all This is a little project I finished some years ago. It is a home made Chevrolet flat bed truck powered by a Perkins 6 cylinder inline diesel engine. It is build up on a Ford Louisville frame with the C600 bed, a Pick up cab and a scratch build engine. The pics are from during the build, I hope that is ok and you can see how it looks like. I hope to get the time for some better pics in the sun next year. It is home build and not like a real one, but as far as everything is possible in the USA, this truck could drive around somewhere. I hope you enjoy the pics. So long Arnd
  8. Hi all In the moment I am trying to finish some of my oldest started builds. This one come a life two years a go and now I am on the finish lane with this girl. It is a replication of an old Preston fright truck that has a second life after million of miles. It is a 1973 Ford LNT-8000 powered by a Caterpillar 1160 V8 Diesel engine. The whole truck is build up from junk parts bought from e-bay from the spare boxes or scratch build. Nothing new. But just have a look. I will show you some pics from how it looks now and some from during the build. I hope you like this little girl and enjoy the pics. So long Arnd
  9. HI that is a grate kit and perfect worked out. Well the price is at the first look high but it is totaly ok considering the guality and the high details. As you used the the frame and the engine it is easy and grate to build up this beauty. The plumbing looks grate. But think about the rims and tires, I remember Richard (AP40) telling me that the Italeri tires are too modern for that type of truck, alltough they look perfect to the rest. so long Arnd
  10. Hallo all My name is Arnd and I am from Germany. I started modeling in the mid 90es with cars and pickups from AMT and restarted my hobby after a longer break some years ago with trucks in 1:25. I concentrate on loggers and day cab tractors. As I am in vacation I searched the internet just for fun and find this forum. I was so impressed about all this interesting builds and statements about trucks and details for trucks which are useful for modeler, that I decided to join it too and hope to contribute a bit to it. I think some of you know my work from other places in the internet but I hope that you will enjoy them. So long and A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Arnd
