I used the repainted and Detailed Ferrari 360 that I use as an Avatar to prove to the members of my IPMS Club, that A Slot Car can also be a Scale Model. They were Surprised that you could get an accurate paint job and Livery, much less a detailed Engine, and interior. Problem is that now I am afraid I will mess it up every time I run It, well I guess you can'y have everything. By the Way It is Also a very fast Race Car. CHEERS!

  4. Your Welcome. Glad we could help you! CHEERS!
  5. Let me add to the recomendations for Castrol Super Clean. I have used it to remove the paint from several vintage models from the 60s, from old Model car kits, to vintage Strombecker,Eldon, Russkit etc. Slot Cars. Most were painted with enamel paints, and were over 40 years old. CHEERS!
  6. Nice resto on the Lotus Body, and with that chassis and engine it should be a quick race car. CHEERS!
  7. That is a sharp looking Sprint car! You did a great job on both the body and Chassis! CHEERS!
  8. You really don't need to buy the Tamiya Acrylic thinner as all it is just 3parts water, with 1 part Iso.. Just mix up your own with 91% Iso.,and Distiled Water. I have been using Acrylic washes over all types of paint for over thirty years, I first started using them on Military Figures some time in the late 70s. You will want to try different consistences to get different effects, but 9-1 is a good starting point. Practice on old parts painted up from the parts box, before you use washes on you prised projects. Keep a container with distiled water close by, and some tissues. You can dampen the tissue in the water and wipep off any of the wash that gets on areas you don't want it on. Also when mixing your washes add a couple of drops of artist matte medium to them, this will help to keep the pigments from seperrating, and prevent the speckled look you can sometimes end up with when applying washes. You can also use ink washes to blend the colours together. Make sure that you get good inks that are formulated for painting miniatures, like the ones sold by Valejo, and Verlinden. The inks sold in places like Hobby Lobby, and Micheals are a bad idea for our Miniatures, as they are formulate for use in doing things like Comics, and other line drawings. CHEERS!
  9. Before you reassemble the nozzle put a little petrolium jelly in the threads(just enough to coat the threads very lightly), this will help seal them and make it easier to take apart the next time you clean your airbrush, which you should do after each painting session. CHEERS!
  10. You know it's strange I have owned Three 62 Chevy Bubble Tops, A 409w/ two 4s, four speed bench seat SS Sea Blue, dark Blue intrior; A 409 SS two 4s,four speed, with bucket seats, Black on Black, and 409 two 4s, four speed Belair Red with Black interior, But I have never built a model of one, just never seemed to get around to it! CHEERS!

  16. Vic EdelBrock's 32 Roadster(his street car, The original So-Cal Roadster, AlaKart in it,s original fifties form, and all of those great Hot Rods in Hot Rod, Car Craft, etc. during the Fifties. I started reading those small hot rod Magazines when I was about 6yrs. old, and I would read everyone of them over and over. Then I would try to build models of the Hot Rods in them. CHEERS!
  17. Model, look at the doors, there is only a seam line around it, also no-one would inflate those rear tyres that hard. CHEERS!

    Citroen 2CV

That will be one wild rod. From a car that used wood framing to a midengine, modern suspension Rod/Grand Touring. Now that is a wild Frog Prine Metamorphisis. I'll be watching for your build posts! CHEERS! Tom
  20. At $120US the SPC1 is a great deal when you compare it to other Electronic Controlers. The DiFalco is almost $300, The DS Controler is $200+ when you can find one. The rest are even more expensive, The Professor Motor Adjustable Controlers cost about the same as The SPC1 and will not do even a third of what you caan do with the SPC1. With any of the other Brands you are looking at $500+ to get one that even comes close to the SPC1. CHEERS! Tom
  21. Due to health issues I haven't done any builds for almost three years. I hope my new builds come out as well as yours. GREAT WORK< KEEP AT IT AND BUILD THOSE OTHER RODS! CHEERS! Tom
  22. I would recomend the Slot.it Electronic controler, it is reasonably priced and has every feature you will need for competitive racing, like variable brakes, throtle response curve, etc.. I use one both at the local commercial track, and on club tracks. I had the first one in my area, and after seeing it's features most of the other racers have switched over to it, some racers that were using exspensive controlers changed to the Slot.it, because it actually gives you better control. CHEERS!
  23. Nice paint Job. CHEERS! Tom
