  1. Mark, Anchor lube is really one of my best finds for machining. It pleases me when I see you put it to good use. Kind of looks to me like I need to place another order. I have been using much more of it than I thought on drilling Derek's rims. Great looking piece. This is truly a masterpiece in the old world tradition. Too much work to make it sailable but that is not the point. It is a showcase of skill.
  2. Wow Mark! That is one very small mill end! Excellent precision work on the cuts.
  3. Randy, Yes, the Zero is done. Thanks for remembering it. Here is the finished thread on it. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=91639&hl= It is not anywhere near your build, but it did come out rather nice if I do say so myself.
  4. Jesse- This is the Air Force special ops version. I'm surprised they didn't mold it all in clear plastic. I think I will go with a darker color just for effect. Kind of a night ops. There are two "egg" versions from Hasegawa. The V-22 Marine version and this one. This one has one extra piece on a separate sprue and the gray decals.
  5. Yeaaaa....that may get us a warning
  6. What is worse is that there won't be any women left either!
  7. There's a huge hint here if you know where to look.
  8. Probably had a Hang ten T-shirt also?
  9. Hasagawa started putting the figures on the boxes with the current series. Egg Planes actually go back to the 70's. There were figures included in the early ones but they were all caricatures of pilots and the like. No figures in these. This is the Air Force Special operations version of the V-22 Osprey that the Marines fly. It is intended to replace some of the helo's the Marines fly, because it is faster. They are called egg planes because of the distortions in the fuselage look line eggs. Just fun builds. Here are some of the ones I have done. As I mentioned, they are really just a fun build. It is hard to do any super detailing on one, so they are for the most part just OOB models.
  10. The big brown birthday truck just arrived from Japan! Not exactly appropriate to this forum, but I have this eggplane fetish thing that I just can't seem to ignore.
  11. Ah shoot! Another jelly bean. See you next week.
  12. "Holy s####! It's Viper!" Yup, Top Gun. A movie so full of quotable quotes it is almost cliché, but I still love watching it.
  13. Ok, let's see who has is as big a fan of this movie as I am! "Good morning, gentlemen, the temperature is 110 degrees."
  14. My favorite. Simple, straight forward, nothing you don't need!
  15. I'll second that!
  16. Yes, same here. Amelia's also had those strange slide out side seats in front of the rear bumpers. There a number of iterations of this particular car. I suppose the people who owned them could afford from custom coach work. I also noticed that a lot of them have porthole windows on the side of the top.
  17. It is kind of a long story, but the major part was the seal. I called Badger years ago(it has been 15 years since I used the Badger) and was told the seal wasn't replaceable(it is not on the early 175s). The needle holder also got bent by my ham-handedness and I felt Badger had no obligation. Since Coast is near where my club meets I figured I would ask and they told me to bring it in. It cost me $21 to have Coast do it and I got it done in less than 10 minutes. It would have cost about that for shipping to Badger and I got to watch the technician fix it.
  18. What?!? Mark Jones with out a Caterham on the bench! Heresy! Blasphemy! Beware the apocalypse is on us!! I do know what it is like to finish a long, long, long term project and be done with it. I think it will be great to see what is next.
  19. One last thought. Go to the Coast Airbrush web site. They carry most of airbrushes and have a very good description which may be helpful. You also may want to call them and talk to them. Their staff are all airbrush experts and really know what they are talking about. Great resource for all things airbrush. Incidentally, they have great customer service. The Badger Crescendo I mentioned above, I walked into the store with it and it needed a new needle, needle holder and seal. They put it together and got it back to like new condition for $21. Just charged me for the parts. I like dealing with people like that! Old school customer service in Southern California. Imagine that
  20. This was definitely a "Hollywood" car in the ere. It is also know as the Gold Bug. Owners of the time: Amelia Earhart, Fatty Arbuckle, Douglas Fairbanks, etc. Very nice classic. http://www.forneymuseum.org/FE_AmeliaEarhartGoldBug.html
  21. Two seat open roadster. Room for two sets of golf clubs. Fast for its time. Flashy even today. What more could you ask for!
  22. Randy, Glad your back at it. I need to haul out something and get it built! Been messing with rims far too long! This is still my #1 inspiration! Keep it coming!
  23. Mark, you are going to miss working on this when it is done. Really coming together nicely. Glad I'm not going to go to the next GSL!
  24. Just got my Badger 175 back after is languishing in the drawer for years with bent and broken parts. It is a real workhorse. If you are only going to have one brush when you are done this is not a bad choice. Three different size tips makes it versatile. I have both 2 Tamiyas and an Iwata. Each is a very fine brush and I use the heck out of them. No preference in general. Each has a solid use. The Badger was my go to brush for years before I broke it. I think I will set it up for use between my Tamiya HG and my Iwata HVLP 50, but if I were to only have one it would be either the Badger Crescendo 175 or the Tamiya HG. Both have been real solid performers.
  25. Far to easy.
