Not too much Chris. It was brush painted copper & had a few "glue melt" issues but other than that, it was in tact. It was missing one stock hub cap, which was part of the reason why I decided to go with the Pegasus wheels. Oher wise, it has new glass & the chrome has been re-done. Steve

Here's another old Johan Mopar kit that's been restored. This one is a 1960 Dodge Dart Phoenix hard top. Another one that's getting exceedingly hard to find. A lot of intricate paint work on the interior in this one to try to replicate the wild upholstery patterns these early Dodges had. Other wise, the only deviation from bone stock was a set of Pegasus Dodge four bar spinner hub caps. This one's painted factory correct MCW "Twilight Blue Metallic". Steve

Thanks all for the kind words! You'll be seeing a lot of these old annuals from me. That's pretty much been my only focus for the past couple of years. & I've got a long ways to go! Steve

Thanks every body! I can tell already, I'm gonna love it here!! Steve -
Very Nice Ron! I have a hardtop version of the original annual I hope to add to the docket in th nt too distant future. Steve
-
That would work too Tom. Unfortunately, I have no resin casting skills, material or equipment. This seemed like the easiest alternative. Maybe some day I'll get into some casting. There are some things I could use it for. Steve

I would Gary, but here's just a partial list of what I have on the docket. These take priority. 1959 & 1960 Edsel hardtops, 1958 & 1961 Buick hardtops, 1960 Chrysler New Yorker & '60 Imperial hardtops. 1959 Ford hardtop & 1959 & 1960 Mercury Convertibles. I also just picked up a '58 Ford convertible & a 1966 Chrysler 300 hardtop that'll be bringing up the rear. Although, it's not really the rear. There's several others after that. I'm going to be busy for a while! Steve

Very nice Gary! I agree. This '65 Ford was probably one of the most detailed kits from that period. The color is really nice! Nice departure from the "usuals". Steve

Love the '66-'67 Goats! Always been my favorite GTO. Very nice job Bruce! Steve

Beautiful Gary! I've had one of these in my stash for ages. Maybe some day. Although, I'm a little more partial to the '64s myself. Steve

Thanks Froghawk! I've done a little of everything at some point. The scratch building & super detailing has it's place. Depends on what you enjoy doing. I just feel that these old annuals are too precious to do too much cutting & revamping so I like to keep it simple & show myself that a really nice end result can be achieved with a little attention to detail with what the manufacturer gave you to work with. Steve

Very nice Liam! Get 'em started early is what I say. Maybe it'll become a life long wholesome hobby for you too! Steve

Here's one more for you guys. This one was my "holy grail" & I will confess, I paid way too much for it! Guess I got caught up in the heat of the moment. Nice thing was, it was such a "pristine" kit, I got away without even having to paint it! Just gave the yellow plastic it was molded in a good polishing, added some detailing, some fresh tires & rechromed bumpers & "Viola", instant Plymouth! I felt it was a resonable facsimile to the factory "Maize" color available in '61 so I thought, why paint it! Along with the '61 New Yorker from my previous post, these are becoming very difficult to find in restorable condition. This one wasn't even a restoration, pretty much just a brand new out of the box build. Steve

Thanks Charlie! Good to see some old aquaintences here. Steve -
That's a great color combo too Peter. It crossed my mind! Steve

Thanks everybody! Steve

Now you're talking a lot of work Joe! My original plan was using some silver jewelry wire with some clear plastic tubing with metallic flecks in it slipped over the top, but the scale was off & it just looked too "clunky". The "grip" detail?.....if you can come up with a relatively easy way of doing that, I'm all ears. I decided this was the simplest alternative. Steve

Yes William. A lot of the top of the line Mopars from 1960-1961 had a transparent wheel as well as the Pontiacs from around 1959 all the way to the mid 60s. I'll post a few pics. Steve
-
Yes Tom. They're Mid to late 50s Chrysler wires. They're available from Modelhaus.

First thing I thought when I saw the first pic was, "some one's on the wrong forum. This is for model kits!" The absolute best compliment you can recieve for a model car, is some one mistaking it for the real thing. I did!! Fantastic Job!! Steve
-
Very nice pair!! So good to finally see your builds in the day light, isn't it? Steve

Took the chance to get a few out side pics before the rain moved in again. They always seem to look nicer in the natural light. Steve

Boy...What a long name! Any way, this is another recent build that I happen to have small enough photos to post. It's a X-el repop of the '59 Dodge Custom Royal. Upgrades include, tinted glass, Dual slant back antennas, Modelhaus tires & a set of four bar spinners I snatched from an old '61 Plymouth annual. The paint is MCW factory correct "Coral" & "Rose Quartz" with a black & white interior which is a Modelhaus resin unit. I've had a couple of these laying around for years & never built one but I've always loved the "over the top" styling of the '59 Dodge, so I decided, now is the time. Steve
