1. Hi all on the last leg with this one, the bike itself is nearly finished, I am attempting to scratch a compressor, which of course would then involve trying to scratch a 1/6 spraygun, still trying to make convincing socket set(you may notice I've made the socket wrench) definitley on the last leg though (may have to make some shelving for the stuff that's laying around on the floor, it looks a very messy workshop which would fail any health and hygiene inspection.
2. Hi all well getting this one back in a sorry state, went down to feed the birds and empty the bins this morning. Rolf tried to take it to his house in frinton yesterday, didn't even get it out of the hall broke lots of oars off the anchor post lots of railings, a lot of the rigging is slack so he's busted something there as well, he thinks I will just go down with a tube of superglue and stick it all back on, not that simple a lot of the guilding was pulled off when the oars and railings came off so that will have to be redone(a real pain as lots of bits were stuck on after the guilding ) I will take some pics when I get it home.
3. wow that is truly stunning, what a beauty, great finish beautiful display piece, well done that man. Loving the colour.
4. Hi all, well whilst doing some weathering on the engine bay I started to think all this work on the engine and engine bay and you wont see any of it when its finished so, I thought, what about an engine hoist and doing it with the engine being removed, now my question is would it be possible to remove the engine and gearbox complete or would I have to separate them (which would then mean making a flywheel and bell housing and the splined shaft for the gearbox, also what else would be removed to get the engine out, I assume the injection system?
5. actually they think the death toll was much higher as a lot of the carpenters and sailmakers and their families were invited on board for the maiden voyage so men women and children would have perished.
6. Hi all well the transom will have to be done in small pieces, the ornamentation is making me crosseyed
7. Hi all well after a lot of retouching and smoothing I've got the dash on the Shelby satisfactory, its not great but it will have to do, I've made some break pipes from the sevo and added the vacuum pipe (not sure where it fits on this car but its usually on the inlet manifold somewhere)
8. Hi all here's a question I've been pondering since I started this build. If you were and experienced old sea dog(never sailed a ship in my life, don't know one end of a spar from the other) and you could see what was about to happen, let's say the ship is listing to port, would you jump onto the sea off the port side or hang off the starboard side and wait for it to sink.
9. Hi all well this is going to be a challenge to paint, to say the least, but I've made a start.
10. Hi all not one of my better efforts TBH I'm thinking bin time.
11. Heller do a 1/100 victory which is ex airfix and although it is pricey 150 quid it is impressive to say the least (look at foxys build) (it is way out of my skill set) but what a kit, actually for how long it would take you to build it is cheap, now if you like a challenge, I throw the gauntlet down, do this kit (personally I'm too chicken, I've been tempted loads of times, I just know I don't have anything like the skill levels needed).
12. hi these airfix kits are really well moulded yes they have their fit issues but the detail in the mouldings for such an old kit are outstanding, as for the fit issues, they can be sorted and it may just be how this kit was stored, I got it off ebay, could have been stored in direct sunlight, I had no problems at all with the Royal Sovriegn and that is a really old kit 1960s, I think airfix get a lot of stick ( yes they've bought some rubbish kits out but by inlarge they are great kits, especially at the price) and the new airfix kit would rival anything tamiya could produce.
13. Hi all did some work on the bike ramp for the garage
14. Hi all I've decided to display it on the turn with the gun ports open and water just starting to enter, I think that's a fitting setting.
15. My new one commissioned by my boss, the Airfix Wasa, I bought it off ebay and I've no idea how it was stored but its warped to hell, its been a real pig to get it together, didn't do it as per instructions as i could not get the deck atattched and level so glued the hull front together then when the glue set glued the rear the glued the deck a bit at a time using loads of masking tape to hold it till dry. Broke lots of these bits on the top rails (whatever they are) so will have to make some new ones.
16. Thanks guys well my Rolf took delivery of it today and said it is totally amazing, said he knew it would be good as he had seen the way it was going, but that it was way better than he had expected, he recons it's the framing that finishes it off.
17. Hi here is a small update on this obviously these exhaust flanges would not have the lge locating flange on the back they would be a sliding fit over the down pipes and would pull the downpipes up by the flange on the downpipe, so they needed drilling out. Made a rack for the exhausts
18. Did some more work on the engine for this
19. I see what you mean I could change that by having the hinge on the door and not the wing but would need to shorten the arms of the hinge and I don't think they would then support the weight of the door, also keeping the door lined up when shut, I think would be a nightmare, no its staying as is, may change it on the next one.
20. Thanks for that, not an easy fix with the random paint job, think I will have to paint that strip black, wish I checked that before cutting the door out would have been so much easier, will remember to check that if I do this again.
21. Hi all here is a small update on this one
22. Hi all here is todays update
23. Hi its dead easy mate.
First paint your base ( the deeper the water the darker and less other colours there would be) in this example its costal waters so not very deep ( you could add greens and browns for really shallow water showing the shallowness)So here's your base>place ship wherever you want it (if the ship is to be removed wrap the hull in cling film to stop the sealant sticking to it.Get some clear bathroom sealantand apply to baseusing a knife or spoon spread it roughly aboutnow press down with the knife or spoon and rapidly move in the direction of the wave moving upwards as you go and you will get a little peak, just like a wave, continue till you have enough, it should end up looking like thislet it go off, if you need higher waves you can add more when its gone off, as I did on the bow waves
then just highlight with white paint

you can then use cotton wool for the foam on the very tops of the waves.obviously you would take more care than I did on this example, but you get the idea. it really is easy I did this example in ten mins.hope this is of use.
24. Hi all well its done (just hope Rolf likes it)after all he's paid for it.
