  1. Hi all well I've had all sorts of trouble getting the other hull side for this, but, it's amazing the effect threatening to sue, not just for the cost of the kit but also compensation can have. Special delivery today the hull half arrived(no letter of apology or even a note just the box with the hull in it)
  2. Hi all well here is a tiny update I think I've hidden the damage from the masking fluid with a couple of strategically placed hippy flowers
  3. Hi all another update on this one.
  4. Think I will be following another master class.
  5. Hi all well here is the next offering I, have had a bit of an accident (trying to cut corners) instead of masking it up with tape I used masking fluid and its reacted with the paint (I think when i put the light bezels on and the VW badge on the front it wont notice much)
  6. Hi all here I another update (think I've managed to hide the black around the rear cabin area now)
  7. HI all, ok so I sorted the chrome out but putting the candy colour over the top seems to have changed the chrome effect (I think in a quite pleasing way) I'm going to do a couple more coats of the cherry red candy then remove the masking then mask up the cherry red and do the chrome and then (cant decide on orange or emerald green candy on the top) personally I'm looking forward to see how it looks, I think It may be better than I visualized originally.
  8. Hi all well here is tonights update, to all you Alclad 2 experts out there whats hapening here (it looks more like matt silver than chrome and it rubs off with your fingers) (the few small areas which do look like chrome are hard and dont seem to rub off) I used their black microfiller primer then their gloss black base coat then used the Chrome, do I need to give a second coat of the chrome or what?
  9. My builds are only good reference of how not to do something, sad but true.
  10. HI all my next bit of light relief after the Citroen this kit has really strange build order in that the body is built round the interior which is ok if you're spraying it normally but the paint job I intend will have some feathering so I need to make sure it will all line up correctly when put together so( I'm hoping this will work ok) I've tacked all the body together so I can spray the body as a whole, thus making sure it will all line up. I will be trying a couple firsts on this kit Alclad 2 and candy colours so wish me luck.
  11. Thanks for the kind comments (that's a long slog to read through this whole thread, hope I was worth it)
  12. Hi all here is the final installment

  14. Hi all no pictures tonight but, after a concerted effort today I can confidently say this will be finished tomorrow, its been a long hard slog but on the final stretch today just a bit of tidying up required tomorrow.
  15. Hi all here is tonights bit (definitely on the last leg now)
  16. Hi all bit more of the background done, I feel I'm on the last leg now.
  17. Hi all yet another update
  18. Hi all I've been asked several times how I do my gold leafing. First the things you will need (Highly specialised stuff)(most can be got at the pound shop (apart from the size and shellac)( or borrowed from your missus) first is the Size Other manufacturers are availiable (this is just what I use) then the Shellac this is to protect the gold as it is very soft and easily rubbed off. something to clean your brush in if using the make I use I have run out of gold leaf so will be using copper leaf (the process is exactly the same for gold)(although you should wear cotton gloves if using copper or brass leaf as if not the sweat from your fingers will cause the copper or brass to tarnish) Now for the tools, a soft cloth, a pair of scissors, your missus blusher brush and a brush for applying the size. Here's the little lady we will be tormenting. Your size is a milky colour but dries almost clear make sure you cover everything you are going to guild when shes ready she should look slightly shiny and feel a little tacky cut off a manageable piece of gold lay on the piece to be guilded press on with the soft cloth continue in the same fashion with the rest of the part, when you have done brush off all the excess gold with the soft brush(also on the fine or deeper areas dab with the soft brush (this will help to push the leaf into deeper areas the soft cloth could not get) when you've brushed all the excess off you will find little cracks which will need filling so just cut a small piece of gold from you're leaf and fill (you wont need to re-size. now its time to use the shellac (I find with my brand as it dries it goes cloudy, DON'T PANIC it will go clear when its dry) I now use this for a wash (you can use other things,I've used panel line washes to great effect too) I open the lid then just fill with white spirit give a stir and that seems to be pretty good for a wash. And finally, whats that you say she was supposed to be flesh coloured I read the instructions wrong. oh well a trusty toothbrush and meths, all sorted
  19. Hi all did a bit more on the background, this will be HUGE when finished
  20. A small update, and a question would I get away with these as Sten Guns.
  21. Hi all. Finished the weathering on the side windows (I must say I'm quite pleased with it)also did the ammo box and made a start on the backdrop.
  22. I often wish mine was that small( its a substantial piece of plastic, it weighs a fair bit for a plastic kit) people keep telling me I'm on the last leg now (you should see the stuff left in the box) still a fair way to go yet.
  23. Tonight's update.
  24. Hi all yet another update, YAWN, you must be getting bored I know I am Skip I am I figure they stole it from the germans (its more than possible, its how they got most of their weapons)
