  1. Hi all here is the next update, I really am enjoying this (I know the paint job ain't the greatest but I've not ruined the kit, the way I've painted it, it's easily over sprayed and none of it will show) this is a great kit, I was going to build this oob but I'm sorely tempted to add lots of detail, I'm just worried if I do i may end up ruining another one, I seem to be in a catch 22 at the moment, I want to do more but I'm worried if I do i will ruin it.
  2. Hi all another update, my customising days are obviously behind me, I used to be good at this, still the advantage is I can always respray with another job, and I'm already thinking of something Involving black and gold.
  3. Hi all I need some help choosing wheels, there are 3 sets in the kit and I've put the gt 500 wheels with it too. For easiness please just say 1,2,3 or 4
  4. Hi all an update on this one. Just dropped the body on to see the effect nothing glued in place yet.
  5. Hi all another little update.
  6. It's artists acrylics thinned to try and remove brush marks, after a few coats of gloss and some sanding, hopefully the brush strokes won't show, I have to say in my bike customising days I sprayed cellulose paint in the cap and used that with a brush, that was soo much easier than acrylics, or maybe I've forgotten the techniques over the years since
  7. HI all here is the next dragon going on.
  8. Hi all I've had a blue Peter moment with this kit, I've heard of bmf and thought maybe i could make some. Take a reel of double sided sticky tape and stick it to the back of some bacofoil Cut from the tape side (the foil all rucks up if you try it from the foil side.
  9. Truly superb build Harry, I built this year's ago, this though, this is in a different league, superb job
  10. Hi all well I'm enjoying the 1/8 hot rod immensely and I think it has rekindled my mojo so I've made a start on this (still not confident enough to do any more to my ships) firstly a warning to all, careful how you stack your stash, this was OK when I put it away but there were 4 heavyish kits on it. Those who know me will know I hardly ever do as the box art.
  11. Hi all made a start on the paint.
  12. Hi all I've decided, as I used to customise bikes in my youth I would do a custom paint job on this I've started the background sky, I'm intending to do dragons and stuff on it, I've done it matt so I can draw and paint on it then in the end I will gloss it.
  13. Hi all tonight's bit, according to the instructions the engine is finished and there are no missing gaps in the spures, and the list of parts dosent list it but I'm sure there should be a fan blade ? I no nothing about these big American engines but every other car engine I've seen has one, also I've chosen the chrome exhausts, I wonder do they go blue like bike exhausts.
  14. Hi all here's the next update. I've put a large 1/24 car along side it for comparison
  15. Hi all well it's finished, not one of my best efforts. And here she is in her new home among the rest of the rubbish
  16. Hi all nearing the end on this one now.
  17. Hi all, enjoying this engine, sticking strictly to oob but there is so much potential for detailing up.
  18. Hi all here is quite a big update, I'm starting to not mind the non metallic looking gold, I think it goes quite well with the green.
  19. Hi all well i like this colour better than the yellow. Hi Mike I'm going with what's supplied in the kit, I don't know much about these big American engines only that I love the sound of them.
  20. Oh well I wish I'd done a bit of research before I painted the engine it's a 61 series pontiac v8 and revells call out for engine colour is yellow(which as we all know is one of the weakest pigments) so after struggling to get a solid colour, I've discovered it should be light blue, now I have to strip it and re do it light blue (not too upset as I didn't like the yellow anyway.
  21. Hi all a tiny update really just to show I'm still on this (I know it's not great but I figure I can remove all the gold and redo it, if and when my mojo returns.
  22. Hi all well here's the start, I've put a 1/24 car (a big one in real life next to the engine just to give an idea of size)
  23. Hi all a small update on this.
  24. Hi all well thanks to the generosity of michu (from another forum I am on) I have this kit to build. I will be doing it oob to try and regain some confidence. It is a massive kit (which again I thank him so very much for) my intention (assuming I don't ruin another kit) is when finished to take it apart and add more detail (given the size of this kit that should be more than possible) provided of course I don't ruin it. So wish me luck mates.
  25. Hi! all, well not to change the habit of a lifetime here is the progress on another ruined kit. I tried to use gold leaf but could not get enough shine on it, so I then tried alclad, which turned out rubbish, I've now tried ak real gold, the results are the best so far but still totally rubbish.
