  1. Hi all, well ive had to change the hinge as it interferes with the inner panel, then guess what the inner panel dosent even fit (opened a whole bag of worms here) the inner panel is so far out I have loads of scratching to do ( I think revell didnt worry too much about the interior since the door are supposed to be shut so no one will see much of the interior, the rear door pillar sits at a diffrent angle to the door, ti dosnt reach the roof ( there is a gap of at least 1/8 of an inch) the front part where it joins the root of the window is about the same amount of gap, wont be doing this again in a hurry.
  2. Hi all here is tonights update
  3. Just dropped into this one, totally awesome build wow.
  4. When it comes to the planking, if your kit supplies two different types of wood to do it with, don't mix them I did my first layer with balsa (the kit I was doing supplied two different woods) figuring it was easier to bend and sand, then my second with lime figuring it would be tougher (was radio controlling it) it was fine when I went to bed, when I went to work on it the next day, the lime had pulled the balsa off in several places on the bends. Had to strip it all off and start again. Apart from that a very enjoyable build.
  5. Hi all well got the masking done.
  6. Hi all here is an update on this, only a quickie as we got in at 2 last night from our hols and I will be off to bed soon Base colour on Marbeling colour Top colour just got to give it a coat of varnish then let it dry before masking up.
  7. Hi all can anyone tell me where to get 1/8 figures, all I can find is a 1/8 navy seal slightly out of place in the streets for France in 1939-45, I live in the UK by the way.
  8. on hols at moment but figuring on doing a different chip paint job to the one shown, maybe hi all brown job, not sure yet.
  9. Hi all last update for a week as on hols in the morning Uprated the door hinges, no sag now thought I better check clearances with the internals, as you can see only about 1/2 a mill clearance, that's a lucky one. given her a coat of primer so she will have a week for that to fully cure
  10. Love it, especially love the colour, I remember a escort Mexico in a colour similar to that in our local garage in the 70s oh how I lusted after that.
  11. Hi I've been given a superb idea for this, I am going to have it in a barn being readied for a mission by the French resistance with the cross of lorraine and a tricolour on it, the possibilities are endless, need to find some 1/8 figures and things like bren guns or make them from scratch I've been doing some research and this was available in blue irise (which is apparently a course metallic where the flakes aluminum were bigger than modern colours) if I can find I will do it that colour or ac615 blue marine which it was also available in, since I'm on hols from Monday I won't be starting it for a while (lots of other stuff to finish first) but (assuming I can get internet) being on hols will give me lots of time for research.
  12. Hi all a small update on this I used copper wire for this which I think is a bit too soft the door sags when opened so i think I will have to change it for some other sort of wire, I also think I need to move the hinge further back on the door so it clears the body better, but quite pleased for a first attempt at opening a closed door.
  13. Well I know I shouldn't since we are off on hols in a couple of days but here is a start. I've cut one of the doors out, just the boot, the other door and the inners to go.
  14. Hi all this also came today.
  15. Hi all well it arrived today and it is mahoosive that is a 1/12 kit box on top of it just to give you an idea of its size these are the sprues there are 3 or 4 sprues to each bag just for comparison (the rule devides the too model kits) the camaro has 1 sprue to each bag apart from the black sprues and that has 2 sprues one tip I've already learned do not take the sprues out of the box as you wont get the all back in and shut the lid (unless you have a degree in astrophysics) that is, this is one case where the box is not big enough.
  16. Hi all here is an update on this one Hi all as a note People keep asking me how I do these sails, well here is a short guide, they are so easy. First you need the white spirit you clean your brushes in ( you know the jar or bottle or whatever that all the sludge builds up in( I keep mine topped up in a little bottle as I use it for other things too) you get your vac formed sails , your brush and your white spirit. then you get a good brushfull of the sludge in the bottom of the bottle and scrub it all over the sail(both sides) allow it to dry and give a second coat if required then with a downwards motion wipe the muck off till you're happy with the effect and there you are, see how easy it is.
  17. Hi all this just arrived today, what a lot of plastic you get for 27 quid including postage
  18. Have you tried turning the engine over if not I suggest you don't if you just put the cam lobes in random positions the valves may well hit the piston heads on turning and you risk bending a valve or putting a hole in a piston, or both. Great build by the way.
  19. Hi all I just ordered the revell 1 / 12 mustang gt 500 and the foose camaro, these and the Citroen Traction Avant and the italari mefistofeles I am going to be a busy boy ( and that's not counting my on going builds )
  20. Oh it will get finished, I do have to receive it first though.
  21. Hi all some of you may know I sold a couple of my ships builds so I had 400 quid burning a hole in my pocket, so I've ordered this and Roy fitszimmonds cd to build it with, my plan (as I'm sure by now you all know I don't build normal builds) is to have it languishing in an old barn or in a garden or yard with maybe a tree growing out of it.
  22. Hi all here is the latest update on this kit, I had a couple of errors pointed out to me, one of them blindingly obvious the rear sprocket should be on the rear wheel so I've sorted that and of course the tank filler hole should be taped up to hide the bit you are supposed to attatch it to the bike with(not there on the real bike) now I know the qverall size of the bike I am going to try and build one of those bike ramps you see in workshops nowadays.
  23. Hi all just a quick update,my bosses husband said he would buy the Royal Sovereign but that this was too big was talking to him the other day and mentioned the Greenwich maritime museum said they wanted it but did not have the room, but would I resubmit it next year as they are constantly changing their displays. He told me today he will buy it (no mention of price), what would I ask for I can't keep it for a year, don't have the room (incidentally i told my boss I had got the Airfix Wasa off ebay and she wants me to build that for her. Actually as I was typing this he came up they've both gone for £400.00 I am well chuffed, I'm sure I could have got more but hey, two models out of the way and money for more, still have to finish the Sovriegn, and of course, start a finish the Wasa, I love modeling
  24. Hi all an update on this, not going to worry to much with the interior as when the bodys on you wont see much of it, i'm missing part 50 on the engine, I have no idea what it looks like as there is no pic on the instructions, so maybe it wont notice its missing.
