Pick up some balsa wood and make your own!

Good suggestion Johnny. That was going to be my approach, but I’d probably just use styrene sheet. Being basically lazy, I thought I’d first check to see if there were some I could pirate from a kit.

  2. Another truly amazing model from you Larry! I've had the pleasure of watching you build a couple of models of this type now and I'm still amazed and left wondering just how a lot of it is done.

The base engine is a fine replica in itself, especially having been hewn from  a solid chunk of styrene! The large scale of this model lends itself to (and begs for) more detail, but the addition of so many operable features really puts it 'over the top'. Just check out those hood hinges! The precision of your scratch-building and the great paint finishes are always super impressive. Excellent photos too. I'm looking forward to seeing it in person.

Until then, thanks for posting it!

  3. Great job giving your Mercury a new lease on life! Very nice paint and foil work. The chrome looks beautiful. Did you have to refurbish it? Can I also ask where you got those great wheels?

  4. You’ve done a super nice job on your Olds Rich. These old Johan kits really are excellent raw material for someone who wants to put in the work and attention to detail they deserve. Having that Modelhaus interior is a huge bonus. I really like this one, as well as all your recently posted oldies!

  5. There is an incredible array of superbly built subjects to look at on this forum, but your restoration of these old jewels is the sort of thing I always hope to see more of when I come here. Not only are they rare, but you are really doing them justice with excellent paint and trim work. Your intricate painting of those interiors is impressive as well. As a replica stock fan, I find the color choices you’ve made for these cars really nice and very realistic.
I have a number of old built ups of my own from this era that I hope to do the same thing with, so seeing yours has me inspired. Thanks for sharing yours!

  6. Your Charger has a terrific factory stock look. I really like the colour too. Like everyone has been saying, the open vent window is a really nice touch that I don’t remember seeing  before. We’ll done.

  7. What a gorgeous Plymouth Paul. That colour is stunning! I have to say I prefer these bumpers to the ones that were used on the Fury’s. I also really like the slick wheel covers on the ‘57 cars. I wonder if many of those found their way onto custom cars of that era.

A beautifully finished model right down to the cool factory upholstery pattern!
