  1. Thanks for the info guys. Dan, I went to the Hobby Bench this evening, and they said they won't be carrying it anymore. That pretty much screws anyone in the valley who doesn't have a subscription. My only hope is that it'll be available through the MCM website as a back issue. Aaron
  2. I don't mean to sound like a rube, but when did the contest issue hit the stands?? I've been waiting for it at my LHS, and the website still has a previous issue featured. Now Dan is saying that he got the issue AFTER the contest issue. I'm a little confused here. Aaron
  3. Great job on this Chuck. Here's a pic for reference (not great, but maybe it'll help) when you're putting the chassis together for it. This was taken by me at US 30 Dragstrip in 1973. Aaron
  4. Great job on this Chris! Sorry I missed out on the Desert Scale Classic, but maybe you'll bring it back next year for me to see. Aaron
  5. That engine was awesome! You better believe that I saved those two pics to my reference photo collection. THATS how a nitro motor's supposed to look like! Aaron
  6. Wonderful job on this Robert! I have this kit, and haven't started it yet. Wow, looking at your buildup of it makes me want to get mine started! Aaron
  7. Kool dragster there Funhouse! Love those 392's and yours turned out terrific. Aaron
  8. Very nice build there, Don! Any other pics of it that we can admire? Aaron
  9. That's lookin' great so far Chris! It's getting down to crunch time for the DSC. You think it'll be done for it? Aaron
  10. Beautiful job Chris! The finish came out great. Can't wait to see this at the DSC. Aaron (AZ-Boy)
  11. That's awesome Steve! I've seen your work in magazines, so I'm stoked that you're finally on-board here and posting. Keep it coming! Aaron
  12. I really like how this is turning out Chris. The decals are just right. One thing though: How about the competition number and class marking? Might go well on the tunnel ram scoop sides? Just a thought. Can't wait to see this at the DSC! Aaron
  13. This was just Tamyia Metallic Blue over their silver. Be honest, I don't know if it color matches the 1:1 Mongoose, but I love that Tamiaya paint. It may be the combination of their nozzle and paint formulation, but it goes on fantastic everytime. It got interesting when I tried to clear over the decals with the 'wrong' Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic (yes, I bought the Walmart version). Won't make that mistake again. The decals started to 'pucker' and didn't want to stretch out again. So I went with my "Nuclear Option". The two-part urethane in a can. That worked a lot better, but there were some dust muzzies on the clear coat. I had to wait till the next day to block sand the body down and try again, but by then, the urethane had already hardened. So I went to the Testors Wet Look lacquer on top. That worked well. The dust muzzies are gone, but there is some slight wrinkling in the flames. Oh well, it might not do anything at a model contest, but it will look good up there in my display case with my other funnies. Aaron P.S. Thanks again for the comments, guys. Very appreciated!
  14. Thanks for the comments guys. Rich, those wheels are the Cragar Supertricks from Comp Resins. I like them a lot. But they're flat on the backside, so I had to trim down some stock Revell super tricks for the backside. Chris - This is 1/25th. Its from the new issue Navy Duster. For those who are building one of these, the set of headers I got in the box were way too long. The came away from the body by at least a scale 16 inches. Thankfully, I had a set in my parts box. I'm pretty sure they were from the JJ Vega. Those are just the right length to clear the body. And yes, I'll be at the DSC in a month. Hope to see you there! Aaron
  15. Just finished this. Modified the wheel wells, the rear spoiler, scratchbuilt the doghouse and added the hood bump in front of the injector. Did the usual chassis modifications (lowered chassis, plumbed/wired engine, etc). I'm happy with the results, but not thrilled. Hope you enjoy. Aaron
  16. Ben, When you say the yellow Prudhomme cuda, are you talking about the 'original' Hot Wheels car, or the yellow 'Carefree' cuda? If you're thinking of the Carefree car, then Comp Resins has the correct body. Aaron
  17. Don't be so hard on yourself Dude. Nobody's gonna ruff you up here. That's a nice box stock build up you have there. Really good job Kenny! Aaron
  18. Keep up the good work, Niko. Your detail painting on that engine block turned our very well. I'll be watching your progress on this build! Aaron
  19. Nice to see your builds on this board Tyrone. Like Walter said - I don't build Pro Mods myself, but your chassis scratchbuilding is something to see. Good job Sir! Aaron
  20. Good luck with that John. Looks like a 'tall order', but if anyone can pull it off, you will Sir. Aaron
  21. Danny, I'm real glad to see you add those support cables to the spill plates. That seems to be the one crucial detail that a lot of modellers leave out on the newer funny car builds. Just a reminder because you probably already have it planned, but the body latch on the front of the body is a good detail to add. It's easy and it adds just that little bit more to the overall look of the car. Aaron
  22. Very nice Bob! Did you clear over the decals? Just curious. I've worked with Tamiya clear a lot, and it's usually too hot for decals. If Testors is more friendly to the decals, I might just have to switch. Aaron
  23. If this turns out as good as your previous builds, you're sure to have a winner Charlie! I'll be keeping an eye out for your updates too. Aaron
  24. That's looking real nice Brett. Keep up the great work. Can't wait to see this finished! Aaron
