  1. Hey Pete...... Remember me!!!?????
  2. -ohhhh an thank you.. the kudo's is much appreciated!
  3. Randy, Yeah your not kiddin'! The past week has been keeping me busy else where then my work bench! LOL BUT that too, I was getting ready for an up coming show that was on this past Sunday.... SO, I had a good time and actually won some awards there..... (On a few of my completed builds) But now that it has slowed down a bit to a better living speed, I'll be back at the bench regularly..... SO, yeah I get what ya mean with life only allowing so much at times.... Ohhh I'll stay motivated, I wanna get more then one done this year (and thats all I currently got done is one) so..... BUT so many REAL close......... Thats the motivation, so many REAL close completed!
  4. Thanks Gator! Yeah I been re-inventing different parts of the engine as I just wasn't "feeling" that last reincarnation I done to the engine, BUT I did like some of the detail aspects I put into it, thats why you can see some of it carry-over to this engine! I've paused for the weekend since my last update (Somethings telling me to hold up on the Superchargers) as I got a model car show tomorrow, and with that, may find something more to the tune I am trying to achieve so..... On hold till I'm back home Sunday evening... Anyway, stay tuned there will be more to follow! (I didn't stop from being burnt out on the build), I stopped as there was a bump in the way that I wasn't happy with in the build, and that I'm changing now!
  5. NICE work on that Dash! WOW!!!!! The engine looks GREAT too! Good work man! Nicely done!
  6. So while I had the Unimat set up to turn out parts, I thought well I ought to turn out some Magneto's too! The difference from my turnings of these from Billet Aluminum, is, I turn mine with the Distributor neck as part of mine! Those you buy, you have to find a "neck" to fit there top! Not only just that, BUT, I also polished mine! I plan to put a gloss clear coating over it keep the shine! Notice one of them has a much "longer" neck? Thats the one that will mount directly to the engine block! The other one, will be fitted to a plate thats a drive case that BOTH necks have to pass through it. Once thats made (the drive case) I'll slip both through holes drilled into it, before the 2 of them are mounted in-place on the engine. I also have yet to drill the holes for the plug wires to "exit" the sides of the 2 magneto's! Thats to come! I polished them before this hole was drilled so that the polishing compound would not get into it, and interfere with the glue that will hold the plug wires in the holes! THEN, while I was turning out Billet Aluminum parts, I got to thinking of the drive pulleys for the Super Chargers! WHAT a challenge this detail is going to be! I have to drive 2 Superchargers, from the crank, and then get "around" the magneto's, as well as have a tensioner pulley detail! INTERESTING set up it will be! I got right to making them, and here are the main crank drive pulley, 2 Supercharger drive pulleys, and one serpentine pulley. I have yet to make a tensioner pulley as of this posting. All turned and polished READY to be used...... The belt to go around these is going to be a surprise! (I have a trick for it) so.... See how it all turns out! Stay tuned..... theres more to come but thats it for now! Comments welcome and enjoyed! Thanks for following along!
  7. So after that all went and was set aside for it to all dry I got to looking at the Box-Stock valve covers, for this engine and just like the last ones, I LOVED that center section and how that looked on them, BUT what I didn't like was the color of the valve covers themselves! I just was not feeling that unpolished "Aluminum look" so..... I set out to make NEW ones! I took it upon myself to make these Alclad Chrome! AND as you all can see, it looks really good too! Gloss Black base, then air brushed over the 2 of them after ALL that center section was made, and dry. That center section? is a scrap piece of "C" channel I had laying around, I'm NOT sure what size it even is, BUT fit, same with the first ones I did on the old engine! I filed the one, to fit around the PCV Valve Cover breather bulge so it can be placed where it was on the real engine! Once the chrome had dried over-night, I then went to drill the dual plug holes, big enough to fit not only the wire this time, BUT also a plug boot valve cover seal too! While at that, I also drilled the center of the bulge for the valve cover breather, which is a neat part as well that I made as I'll explain in a bit! Once the chrome paint was dry, all the holes drilled I painted the "center" of that "C" channel, like on the last one, and then let that dry, and went to highlighting the tops of the "C" in Hemi Orange. NOW, remember when I was working on the Supercharger Plenum, and said that "top" of it was following a theme? WELL here you see it! That "Top" of the Plenum is the SAME "C" channel that you see down the center of the valve covers! I probably WILL paint its center Gloss Black, just like those on the Valve Covers, as well as highlight the tops of the "C" channel with Hemi Orange. A REALLY shiny shot of them! That looks GREAT! NOW that Valve Cover Breather, its a bracelet/Necklace threaded clasp..... Knurled for grip, BUT if you looked at it how I did, it looks like a air filter! The only real task, was making it fit the valve cover! SO, I had to turn a section of aluminum rod, to fit inside of it, snugly, and have a point that would just come through the top of the part (where the bracelet/necklace threading would!) -To look like a nut to hold it in-place.... Once I had that turned I CA glued it to the inside of the part, and then used that "stem (or neck) what ever you'd like to call it, to hold it while I painted the straight knurling flat white, to look like an air filter. Once that dried I then glued it to the valve cover from the inside!
  8. So moving right along..... I got to looking after the Tunnel-Ram intake base was in-place, and then the Supercharger Plenum I just made also in-place to say, was mounted and secured good, I got to thinking about that high capacity, low profile oil pan was needed, but haven't YET molded it, BUT what I do have is "extra" oil pans that I can just make another one and then when all said and done I'll get to making a "Master Copy" to mold one! They represent those that Milodon make! SO, I got right to it, cutting the sump off and went right to making that bathtub bottom part from scrap styrene square rod. I painted, as tho it was gonna be a stock colored part right from Milodon, "Goldish", but didn't like it, so I cut the shine on it, and will paint it to match the engine in Hemi Orange! Not to bad looking! I MAY still leave it like you see it with a slightly different "gold" look, as I haven't yet put it in-place on the engine! AND theres a reason I haven't! An engine of this WILD high performance, (not that it ever happen or work) but on a lot of them, when the builder adds over a 8-71 Supercharger, they add whats called a "Block Girdle". SO having said that, I then made one as well for this engine! All it is, a piece of .040" sheet cut to be slightly bigger on all four sides of the oil pan, and then glued as tho it is an oil pan, as once done, your only going to really "see" the edge of it anyway! Notice, I only painted so much of it? That is all thats going to be seen when the oil pan goes into place! That "block" under the engine is just a metal Machinist "Parallel" to hold the engine to sit level (Its not part of the engine at all!) -Just to hold it up, more or less. As seen you only see the edge of this detail! The paint is Testors Model Masters Metalizer paint "Titanium" -Slightly polished to give it a slightly different "metal" look, UNPAINTED, as they would not have painted this part when it went in-place! -Altho, I had to paint it to get that desired "Metal" look! Thats all for this detailing of the engine, Stay tuned, tho, MORE to follow, as always comments welcome, ENJOY!
  9. WELL now, I have got a bit done on and off to this build! I been going at a snails pace with everything going on, BUT, thats OK I'm still making progress I guess! SO to go in on everything, everyone following this build knows a different beast of a motor is about to take shape! (with some newly added parts!) SO..... Off to showing what I've done thus far! So you can see that the intakes "base" and its runners was painted! I painted this with Alclad "Dark Aluminum" #103. Looks pretty good to me! I like the idea of giving the engine some other "metal" shades to set things off a bit! Which thats just what this is doing! -I also have chromed the timing chain cover as well! And it looks pretty good being brush painted gloss black, and then brushed on Alclad Chrome to get what you see on the front of the engine! Not to bad for what and how I did that! NOW this intake base is in-place, to sat! I then set out to figure out how, I wanted the Superchargers to sit, stacked, like they were, OR something "different" WELL, because the ones I plan to use on this one are a whole LOT bigger then the ones I had originally used, I had to come with a way to add two, of the 14-71 Superchargers to the top of this motor and look the part, as well as look to "function" even tho its a made up set up (I do NOT think ANY motor no matter what it is), who its made by would handle what I have planned to build for this truck. BUT, in doing so, It is a model, BUT I want it to almost "jump out and bite" being so "wild" looking. SO, I then too the "top" of that intake, and got to looking and seeing how different parts would work out keeping in mind, I wanted it to "look" as tho it would work. Stacking 2 of the 14-71 Superchargers, really was NOT an option. Do top the complexity of the engine itself being used. TO MANY belts to make it right.... Unlike the last engine, this one will NOT have 2 Supercharger belts! Because of this, I decided to make the superchargers mount on a HUGE "triangle" intake plenum! BUT NONE of them that I have will fit, nor hold the 14-71's.... Meaning I had to scratchbuild this onto the top of the intakes "top" plate. SO I got right to making things to get this to all fit the 14-71's. WHAT A TASK that was! I got out some heavy card "Manila paper", and began testing angles and size and all that with the make-shift valve covers to fit. (They worked well for that!) SO this is how it all turned out after a few attempted "sizes" done in manila paper, I got it to all work out! THEN I pulled out some .040" plastic and transferred the shapes onto it to be cut out to get going on the Plenum! A view of ALL sides of this BEASTLY Supercharger Plenum! I took all the shapes of styrene sheet, and filed each to fit and then filed the corners a bit, BUT wanted to keep a sheet Aluminum "welded" look. THEN got it all done but the "top of it" This part? You'll understand in a bit, as its made to follow a "theme" I've got planned! ON this Plenum, you'll see that there is a "lip" kinda mounting surface to it, thats the lip the Superchargers will mount too. I then painted this the same way I did the Tunnel-Ram base. All to match! Stay tuned, more to follow right after these short messages! Comments welcome, ENJOY!
  10. I haven't got a lot on this build to update, but some.... I been cleaning up out around the house and all plus getting ready for a upcoming model car show I want to attend, and have some fun at so. The "cleaning" up a bit around the house paid off, literally, I made some extra cash by turning in some scrap metal I had collected up so been busy a bit doing that to have it for the show! So anyway, what I got done on this build was those engine detail issues I pointed out that it needed. The Alternator replaced with one that looked much more like a "Mopar" looking one, all done up, was chrome and then I added the "copper" wiring and then let to dry, and dullcoated the whole sha-bang to look the part like cast aluminum. Once that was dry, I added the red & blue wires to it, and let that glue cure (this step takes a little for the glue to cure real good as once its in-place on the engine, it will be difficult to add the wires, one, and two, if they fall off once in-place, is difficult to then add them! SO I leave it alone at least over night before any handling! SO, with that, that part is now on the engine! Looking at the engine over-all it looks real good. I also touched up the Mopar Engine red on the front nearest the water pump where the heater hoses go into the water pump, because I had to drill where they were AFTER the engine had already been painted! BUT turned out good too! I also repainted the pulley that goes to the power steering pump too (I had originally painted it red (was gonna make it match the engine) so. just thought that making it "right" was necessary! I also went on to paint that bare plastic power steering pump fill cap! Thing was just an eye sore! SO, I went on to paint it flat black as the pump itself, was made gloss black, just like the real ones! I ALSO, "drilled" the power steering pump for adding the power steering lines from the pump to the gear box, that will be on the frame! -Ya all know me, gotta stuff in as much detail as I can! Then once all was in-place, and the touch up paint was dry, I began getting the wiring fished to where it belongs, thats on or to the engine or components of the engine, seen here, that blue wire coming off the Alternator going past the coil to look as tho its a "feed", then will continue into the firewall once the engine is in-place in the frame! Wire, however left "long" to be trimmed and then used elsewhere on the model in the engine compartment! -MAY wind up a horn wire to "wire in" the horn, not sure yet as there is a little wire work needing done on just the firewall as it sits! Thats it for now everyone, thanks for following along! Stay tuned more to come as things get done! As always comments always welcome, ENJOY!
  11. Thanks Rick for letting me know where abouts those decals may have come from! I'll be looking for some of those! As thats an AWESOME idea for those decals! I didn't know that Revell made this kit! Thats another one I'll also be lookin' for!
  12. Those "Recall rims" I plan to make molds of those! JUst because there are a few builds of my own that I think they will look GREAT on!
  13. NICE job man! I built one of these monsters and they are one of the most difficult models I've seen yet to make them "look good"....... I went the other way tho.... Full on lowered with a BIG honkin' Mopar 392 Hemi twin turbo'd AND Hillborn injection fed..... Whats your plans for an engine in the 2 of them?
  14. Randy, I am. been going on a couple builds as waiting times allow for others to get small things done! (I'm tryin' to get them one so that the engine can be put in the frame!) As the interior is done now, so. its getting close! LOL I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now on this build! Thanks for watching, stay tuned more to come!
  15. Your welcome man, and thanks for answering on my question, I would say that yeah, wait to paint till you know the shape is right..... And for what its worth, on a build like this, you want the machine to breathe so the larger exhaust pipe & large tube diameter headers "wire" makes it look the part!
  16. LOVE the work done here! That engine the "MOPAR" decals set it off, what kit or where did you get those from? (I have sort of the same idea) to do that to one of my planned builds, but not sure where to get the decals for the valve covers! NICE job on the Jo-Hans kit!!!!
  17. NICE work on that Chally!!!! The engine looks GREAT too!
  18. Steve that looks GREAT man! NICE job! That micromesh, who makes that? I'm gonna be on the look out for it my next shopping trip!
  19. Travis, 16 gauge wire with the insulation removed? They look GREAT for the headers! The whole car as you last pictured it looks GREAT!!!!
  20. Thanks Ed!!!! Some of that MAY help as I only have so much I can do from the single picture of the real car I have, and its not the greatest picture to begin with that was taken with a Polaroid camera, and the picture is ripped (Not SURE what happened to it), but its all I got to go from so..... MUCH appreciated!
  21. So a little has been done to this build, I got the pedals added to the interior, as well as making them the part they should be (stock kit-ox model gave 3 pedals to be accelerator, brake and clutch pedals.... Dad's Dart, was an automatic, so I made the pedal line to suit, accelerator, brake and a emergency brake pedals.... All spaced accordingly.... Then while that sat to dry, (was a bit to make it all work out to look the part) I picked up the engine to see what all it was needing to bring its detail up to par with the rest of my builds as this was one of the first builds I began back into model car building in 2013! SO.... Off to that we go! Black & Red starter wires in-place.... Looking pretty good! -I do however see some touch ups that it needs, the oil pan for starters that red needs some touch up, and the transmission pan needs a little touch up too, but thats OK right before it goes into the frame to stay it'll get those touch ups! Then right to the heater hoses after the starter wires were cured, & in-place to stay! A little red touch up here is also required ad that will happen a bit more sooner-then-later, as the detail is gonna stack up quickly as time passes so touch up as much as possible per detail addition! I also see some paint work, I'm gonna change too, the power steering pulley, it should be a cast iron color (the same color as the transmission) as it was never the same color as the engine color! AND that cap to the power steering pump! Thats got to be made flat black as that bright white plastic is a bit to much! -Everything else however looks pretty good! Notice the Alternator is missing? I removed the one I had originally used that came off the Lindberg make-shift "318" that looked way more like a 273 then a 318, because the older 318's did resemble the 273 quite a bit, but not that much in '68! SO....... That Alternator was a really "early" one, from the early '60's so.. I needed something more mid to late '60's and thats what you'll see in up coming updates to this build. I took that original one off, and put it in with my stash of parts, and then, took out one that was more date specific to this build to put in-place of it. BUT before it goes onto the pulley, it needs some added details, copper wire painting in the casing, and then the chrome needs to be dullcoated to look like unpolished aluminum, and the wires added to it. So far the whole adding of detail is pretty good, I'm pleased with it so far.... As always, thanks for looking, comments welcome, ENJOY!
  22. So it has been a little bit on this one. I have been jumping around on different builds to get some of them "up to snuff" and to bring them up to par with details and on a few their getting some changes done to them, like this one for instance! I just got it out one day and looked at it to see what else I needed to collect for parts to pick up where I left off on the build..... And got to looking at the engine and well, it was GREAT, for a time, BUT I as mentioned in a previous posting, wasn't 100% happy with the original engine, it needed something........ MORE! Well as posted, I pulled out the parts for that engine the 2nd one, and bagged it up and put it in with the truck., Well within the last day, I was bored a little with all the "common" stock building I been doing and needed some PLASTIC HORSEPOWER.... So let the engineering rage flow. right into be what your all about to see with this build! Engines, is the same basic engine, that I had originally started with, the AMT 426 DOHC Hemi.... Same basic principals too, DUAL EVERYTHING. (almost) in some cases will be QUAD! As you'll see! -BUT I am thinkin' to change the engine size from a "426" to a "528" just because of the like I have remembering when the 528 Hemi came out in the early to mid 1990's.... Laid out to show the parts, I am adding a different Intake! As it sets on the engine after being assembled, its not glued, its merely just setting there! The Intake however is going to be a whole other ball-game, I'm adding DUAL 14-71 blowers in-place of the original DUAL 6-71's I had originally went on to use, till now! Then, I began more assembly to the engine! The heads, are my resin castings! I used my own castings to leave the factory AMT ones for "work bench detail" as they are nicely detailed parts, and on an engine those same details won't be seen! I also added the oil filter and such to the block, for painting purposes. BUT that filter will NOT be on the engine as I thought this wasn't the greatest place for a "competition" engine! So having said that, The oil filters (YES 2 of them) larger ones, will be on the frame somewhere! So after basic assembly, I got right to painting the engine! The block got stock Mopar Hemi Orange, the heads this time around will represent those of the real thing and be cast Aluminum. The valve covers seen here, are only "placed" for building. They aren't glued and I did NOT choose to use my resin ones for this build anyway, (I opted to use the AMT factory ones for a reason as you'll see in a few updates from now!) BUT, my resin ones are PERFECT for "sizing" things to fit! The black timing chain cover is just gloss black as its to be chromed!!!! SO thats one step ahead on the chroming of it.... -Also notice the oil filter has been cut off as well. As I said, those will be mounted else where other then on the engine! Engine side shots. The block will not be getting the mechanical fuel pump (I'm using an electric looking fuel pump), as the oil filters will be on the frame with the fuel pump! SO, there will be a black plate cover for that area of the block. And speaking of that area, the timing chain recess, is NOT the stock one from AMT. That part came from Lindberg, off the Little Red Wagon kit, as it was chrome, BUT I didn't want it chrome as far as the block section, that part the extends out from the block was actually part of the block so it got stripped and was painted to look like part of the block, and then I chose to re-chrome the cover only, which is the part painted in gloss black! Front of the block showing the timing chain cover a little better. Also, notice no water pump! I'll also be using a electric water pump as well, a detail part from a Drag Racing engine will be used where the cam would normally be behind the timing chain cover. As mentioned the intake will be completely different from the first & second engine! -I forgot to mention this engine has been changed 3 times now. The first 2 engines were from the SAME engine, just stripped down and rebuilt, this time, the whole thing is being replaced! But, the intake as you see it, is a 2 piece "medium" rise Tunnel-Ram, thats gonna have A LOT done different to it! -As you'll see during the build. In these last 2 pictures however the intake is merely just "placed" and is not in-place to stay. I sat it in place to get some pictures to give something for those watching to ponder as it all comes together! This is one of my resin castings! And so is the 2nd part to it, but I have yet to get good pics of that part and whats to come of it. BUT, having sat and looked at it in the pics, myself, I think the color of the intake is going to be Testors Model Masters Metalizer "Magnesium" polished and coated, to look like a competition light weight part, as when done, its gonna be a rather BIG intake, as you'll see in a few updates! (Probably the nest one as I get the intake done for pics!) Thanks for looking, as always, comments welcome ENJOY!
  23. Well everyone, Its time I come clean...... I've been making all sorts of master copies, and A LOT of them with some influence to high performance! WELL with that said, I have molded a NEW 14-71 blower now.... which will be posted when I have time to sit my ass down and get pics of the newest parts I have yet to add. BUT to add to that, these 14-71 blowers, I've also done a few high performance type oil pans.... One such would replicate one from Milodon.... See: I took it upon myself to make one of these in 1/25th scale! SO having said that, and thinking, I want this engine for this build to be THE BEST IT CAN BE..... So with all that thought going in, I am changing this engine, as I had mentioned, and this is what its all going to be made from: As you can see, 2 of the 14-71 blowers are in the picture! I didn't get the oil pan in it, BUT the one I pictured is whats gonna be used on this NEW "Doomz Day" power plant! A few other things with the engine on the new one will be done too.... A little more Aluminum paint, and some chrome paint, as well as some other interesting parts that I'll point out as I'm building this BEASTLY motor! Thought you all would like something on this build..... I have been pondering this idea for awhile now, and well, its time I put that pondering thought to rest and get on with it! The only part the original engine will give to the NEW one is the air intake! Its special made for this build, and will remain with the truck! Everything else, is planned to change! Stay tuned! Comments welcome ENJOY!
  24. WELL, I have to bring this one back to the surface.... I've had a recent change of heart and of mind on this build! Its going to happen when I have everything I needed to pick up where I left off, BUT I just got to looking and thinking..... At times that can be a good thing and others a bad thing, I'm not sure where that might fall here..... That big Honkin' motor I was planning for this truck? Is gonna CHANGE! I'm replacing it! Its gonna be BIGGER then what I have made already! With some improvements on "parts choices"..... Stay tuned those who are following along! -Even WILDER things are gonna happen to this one! The engine thats made? I'm keeping it, for a later time, another build, who knows? It may wind up in the garage to support the race team! I am however, keeping it as-is, and will use it later on! The only part thats on or too the current engine, that will be used in its reincarnation, is the HUGE Bug catcher...
  25. So then you all have been wondering, I haven't worked on this one to much BUT, over the weekend, and a little tonight, I got some done to this ole stand-by.... The frame now is painted black, and some of the intake duct work, is also on its way to being completed....Heres just a look.... Simple, the underframe got its flat black "undercoating" as spoken about! The last 2 pictures show the drivers side duct work "Pre-Filter" in place, it HAD to be in place for the duct work "top" to be set in place! THIS will allow me to design the lower top portion of this duct....I still need to do some "angle" work to get this side done. I have yet to make the needed "see-thru" screen for the other passenger side of the interior! Short update, but since the absence, I thought something was better then nothing! More to come!
