So as I said, more to follow, just a little here and there, SO the engine, remember that BEAST? REMEMBER me saying I had secrets to reveal? WELL heres yet another one! I've went and gone completely overboard with it, the engine with its Superchargers, and dual Turbo's, now also sports a 200 shot of NOS to the dual Holley Double pumpers! Thats one side, heres the other: The piping to these, will come from 2 separate NOS tanks, INSIDE the cab! Remember "dual Everything" well I think its now showing! LOL When I'm working on the engine specially the top side of it, I use the trucks actual frame as a holder, as it keeps it level, somewhat, AND allows me to handle the engine if needed, but holds it steady when I need to do detail work to it, OR add detail to it.... PLUS, it keeps it from sliding around on the work bench and loosening up details I've already added! ENJOY! More to come as I can get pictures and time for progress!

Got to thinking with all this "interior" work, I ought to see what I have for "racing seats" to use in the truck, and well to my advantage, I have a few old AMT-Ertl '70 Dodge Coronet Super Bee "Pro-Street" models to then see a GREAT candidate for the Monster truck! It needed stripped down, (was paint "Almond" from J.C. Murphy's), almost 25 years ago, if not longer.....The seat? sat in ELO (Easy Lift Off) from Ply Scale, a Testors company/division, for 2 days! That old Almond paint, that was made by I think the spray can company was named "Miracle" or something, WOW is that some BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH paint now! BUT.....I got it all off the seat! Upon seeing how the seat looked "stripped" to bare plastic, I noticed something I didn't before! The glue! Was stuck to the PAINT! I "HAD" seat belts glued to this seat, AND the seat was glued to the car interior tub floor! NO glue distortion on the place! I'm amazed at how long this was in that car, BEFORE I tore it down for spare parts! This same seat was in the same car, as the engine thats going in my Monster Truck! So anyway, me, being me, I thought, How or what do I want to do with this seat, to make it better? WELL, first off, NO holes for the seat belts to pass through for the 5 point harness! SO, holes to be drilled were in order! So I think they look pretty even so Off to fitting the seat with a NEW seat belt arrangement I had (the old one just didn't fit well to this seat, and will be kept for a future build I'm sure! Looks to fit pretty good, (I cut it down just a bit, to fit the seat) the other belt set up was simply to long and to wide. This one was merely just a bit to wide!) SO I cut a few sections out of the middle, and whats missing is a center buckle, no big deal.....I'll glue it back into the belts, just before they're painted to go in the seat.... I also plan to add a seat adjustment lever in the front, to go forward and back for different peoples height, and I MIGHT add a rear back lever to adjust how much the driver sits "upright" in the seat. I then will have to make my own roll bar to justify the belts "mount" behind the seat, which is OK, I was planning to make my own roll cage for the truck anyway! Stay tuned! MORE to follow!

I may as well get it added as yet another "update" As I wait for other model assemblies to cure for handling, I keep the ole Doomz Day nearby! Both REAR track frames, have the rigid roller in place and all supporting details as well. I'm currently awaiting the glue to cure on the lower rollers for placement to these frames! BUT that might prove a few days as it gets pretty intense for those, as they have to be just so, nothing else will do! As I set and work on others, I went and made ALL the needed parts when I was "designing" and now have them loose "as-needed" during the build, makes for easier assembly time! So, all these little "extra's" make no mistake, they were done BEFORE any of this began going together.....When I know something will work, I run with it, and when I run with a part I'm making, I make SURE I count how many I'll need and then go for "stock" to do ALL of them all in one sitting, or at that very time when the machines are running and the wheels in my head are turning! So, as I wait for another model to dry, and whats seen above to dry, I'm left with well, not much of anything SO, why not begin that radiator/aftercooler duct work coming of the back side of the front inner fender wells.... Just a bit of piecing it together, I might add, A LOT of compound angles to be worked out....I have yet to add the lower and upper parts, but the sides are pretty much done and in place. I do have some filling and sanding to do as they're close but not dead on, as the duct work isn't a perfect thing and using that and a starting point (kit rearward bulkhead, and that not being 100% true, let me to do a bit of smudging it to make it fit....ONCE in the truck, it won't be noticeable! Passenger side view! Drivers side view! These got a ways to go, plus I have to get the whole works ready for paint as this is a center part of the model the frame then this and then the body, so.....The frame is coming along too, BUT I have to get this on it to continue with the details of the motor! ENJOY! More to come as progress allows!

Randy's right, it isn't the same shade throughout the years.... I've noticed slightly different shades/tones from one year of car to the other, so with the car your doing (mine happens to be a '70 Superbird) so I'm gonna take a picture of that car and do the best I can to match the color of that car in the picture. SO, as Randy said, you do however have to be careful as pictures do fade, and color shift so. Just as computer monitors, color shift, from one to another depending on how the color is set up on the screen itself. I'm not sure how I'm gonna go as of yet on this car, my posting was simply to get ideas on where to begin for that shade of blue..... And with everyone here at MCM, I got a few choices to choose from! And all of them valid points too!

1/25 AMT1969 Dodge Charger paint polished and chrome trim added.

Wow nice work guys! I too lost the use of my hands last year and have some still yet to go through on my right hand this winter (I'm having a part of my right hands ring finger removed, from a bad accident I was in last year..... So. I know how some of you guys feel. the modeling tho will help you GAIN dexterity....... I needed no Dexterity Therapy from the accident due to the way I build models and work with my hands so.... Here's the model I began working on with just 1 finger and one thumb on my right hand... and then another I was working on towards the end of all the stuff done to my hands, you can see in some pics that my hands are still bandgaged up from the accident. The accident, happened July 3rd 2015, the '68 Roadrunner was started in October of 2015!!!! So this models you guys have done look GREAT considering all that the few disabled modelers have been doing, NICE job guys! -

How did you get started in model building?
426-Hemi replied to slusher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Modeling (or building) however you wanna look at it, I been doing it most of my life, from about age 5 to date, some 33 years later, I've gone from Model cars, & trucks to trains and spent a good part of 20 years building trains (in HO scale), then recent times 2013, my Dad got me a 1/4th scale model of a 426 "Street" Hemi from Hawk Models, and I then turned back to the old days of my childhood building car models, now about 50 models "in" to the return! and boy, what I have missed in the times I was building trains! Years ago, before I got into the HO scale trains I musta had 500 or more model car kits. That was ALL and any of them, today however, I've limited myself to "Mopar Only" as I have a massive collecting gene from both Mom & Dad, and my Wife knew of this with the trains so............. I picked the car type, I know and love.... Altho it does "stray" once in awhile as far as the love goes, as my family had once in a VERY blue moon other-than a Mopar, and a few very close family friends I had to make an exception for..... -
My Dads 1968 Dodge Dart New Progress 1-15-2017
426-Hemi replied to 426-Hemi's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks Carl! Much appreciated! I try to do my best..... Thanks Steve, I try to do what I can, with what I have, and certain things, I try to make them as close as I can..... Have you seen some of my other builds? This one, the detail isn't what I normally do (It was one of my first builds, once I came back to model car building!) SO..... Have a look at these: Thought I'd show some of my other work! -

426-Hemi replied to 426-Hemi's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks Randy! You be sure to PM me you get to building your ole '71!!!!! I'd follow that one as it sounds like it be a lot of fun! I hate how that interior in the pics "shines" it has VERY LITTLE shine to it, but my camera's flash, gives it a false shine.... GRRRR -
Thats AWESOME!!!! My only hurdle is the fact I can't get the detail parts that you've posted in last car! Locally there is no hobby shops and the ones that are "semi-close by, don't carry anything like that not even wire looms from Detail masters! SO. and then to add salt to injury, I ain't got a credit or Debit card to order online so, I'm stuck with whatever I can make, myself, which too is fun in a whole other way! NICE job on that Renault!
-
Steve, NIICE Work! Adding more details, you sound like me!!!!!
-
Thanks Mark! I'll be adding the steering wheel to the dash in a day or so (I have some specific details yet to add to the dash) Steering column, turn signal lever, and automatic gear shift, and then add the pedals to the lower edge of the dash from the back side (Almost the same as I did in my truck, in this same build) but Dad's truck will be getting a new "stock" looking accelerator pedal, a more centered brake pedal (with a larger foot pad on it), and a emergency brake pedal. All before it goes into the interior tub! And one of the details I noticed I did not add on either interior is the lock pins in the tops of the doors! Those will be added as well in both trucks! And then, I have to sit down and think up a way to add something to Dad's truck that well was a "common" sight for him to not be far from at times during the week (being this was his everyday driver for a long time!) He always traveled to work, with his lunch "bucket" as he called it, on the passenger-side seat! So, I plan to add that little extra to his truck.... I'm not sure what "little added details" I may add to the interior of my truck..... As I add something to Dad's I ought to add something to mine, just not sure what!
-
NICE Work! Those seats almost look real! The interior tub looks molded in orange, is that one of the older MPC General Lee kit interiors? You done that thing some NICE justice!
-
THANKS for that! -I'm glad I made this inquiry, as its returned a few options to doing that model right..... The real question is, what way do I wanna go LOL
-
I'm sorry, 1. I would NEVER sell my models, and 2. I just can't justify that for someone elses work when I'd rather enjoy building it myself!

AMT 1958 Plymouth engine
426-Hemi replied to landman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes! I no idea WHY I said Satelite, (I know why, I'm working on planning a mold of a '71 Satelite grille!) But YES a Belvedere NOT a Satelite! -
AMT 1958 Plymouth engine
426-Hemi replied to landman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm sorry Carl, I didn't see your question, the '58 Plymouth Belvedere "Christine" had a Chrysler "B" 361 in it. basically the same motor "B" 350 that Chrysler overbored. In the book and in the movie, they called the car a "Fury" in the movie it was simply a Belvedere with all the badging removed and some of the chrome trim removed to "look" somewhat, the part of a Fury.... -
Its a nice model, but I can't see $440 in it...
-
There has been A LOT of resin repops of that engine used in various small block applications! BECAUSE of the bottom end detail, as well the head detail is GREAT.... As said, it be a dang good addition to a garage Dio for the detail in it!

Another kit Engine ID?
426-Hemi replied to FordRodnKustom's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thats a Jo-Hans, Mopar 383 with the long Cross Ram intake! Was in the Imperial, and or the Dodge Dart, early 60's. I'd almost KILL for that motor LOL -
Thanks for the link Ron! (Sorry its taken me so long to get back to you on that reply!) Much appreciated!

Thanks Jose! I had sat these 2 trucks aside for a time as over a year ago, I went through a bad accident that mangled my hands pretty bad (I wound up loosing the tip of one finger and going to loose a section of another) due to the same accident that I'm putting off till winter (To much around the house to do and all to be laid up healing again!) And I did a bunch of that last year! Anyway, I sat these 2 builds aside for partly the reason I was searching out very specific parts (which I now have) till I find others, but thats unlikely at this point) and was healing, (While I was healing) last year I went on a hunt for those parts as I couldn't do any modeling, at the time, BUT I could search for things I was going to need to do a bit more intense modeling of the real ones to make the models more a replica of the real trucks then just a "model".... If that makes sense. NOW however I've been working on models for almost a year (I think) I began working again on models from the accident on a '68 Plymouth Roadrunner, That model Is setting right now too as I need specific decals to finish the body as it is almost done, BUT, when I began to "try" and work on models after the accident, I only had my right hand, thumb, and pointer finger, and thats IT......... I had to use a clamp-on vice for a "make-shift" left hand! BUT, the good part was, I didn't have to go through ANY dexterity therapy from the accident, I did it all 110% of it myself working on models! Heres a link to that '68 Plymouth Roadrunner I built with one finger and one thumb! Oct. 26th 2015 was the first time after the accident I got back to working/building models. But more to what I was saying on the Father & Son Dodge truck builds was, I didn't want any differences in my work to show within those builds while I was healing, so I sat 'em aside and seeked the wanted/needed parts for them till I felt I was able to work on them again, and then, just time passed and things got to where I am now and then to realize just how much time had passed and then it hit me with the '68 Dart interior, Dad's truck was pretty much the same colors as the Dart! So, why not kill 2 birds with one stone.... While I had the colors out, get the truck interior going and all too! Plus, I feel as tho, I'm back to my self with my hands now to be able! So, yeah, I'll be going on these till another road block may come up, in the build(s) due to having 2 trucks in this one! As there really isn't much left to either one of them, My truck is body work and then gloss black paint, Dads truck after the interior is done, is body work (I have some trim to add to Dad's truck due to the type truck and nature of trim-line of his truck) so there is some more needed on Dad's truck then mine as far as body work goes..... Stay tuned tho, theres more to be done!
