Resin Hayes hood.
James Maynard replied to James Maynard's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
So no the AMT Western Star cab will not work with the Resin Hayes hood. But on the bright side the Hayes cab is not cracked. It was just a bad crack in the paint. I've been sanding on the hood and the cab and well here they are now. -
sealed kit from ebay missing all the tires
James Maynard replied to MrMiles's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I got one better. I bought the Revell Peterbilt 359 kit from Walmart a few years ago. I got home opened it and it had a bunch of junk in it. No sign of the Peterbilt. Upon further inspection you could tell someone had cut the very bottom of the shrink wrap to get the box open took the truck out then put the junk in there and taped the shrink wrap back to look like it had never been opened if you didn't really pay attention. I got my money back on it. But the point is you never know what you're getting. -
Thanks guys for helping me with the resin cab question. Now I have a new question. I have a Wilson Livestock Trailer I'm about to start building. I built one a few years ago and had this same problem. It was never resolved. Ok so what is the best way to get the middle door on the back to fuction/raise up and down? It's just a bunch of flat pieces that go in two tracks.

Thanks for the heads up. Don't worry it's not in there yet. I don't even have it yet, should be here tomorrow. I'm glad I checked here first before I made a bad mistake though. -
Resin Hayes hood.

It's going in the purple pond. It'll probably have to be sanded too. The hood is all I'll be using. That cab doesn't fit. -

I'm getting a Hayes hood soon. I was just wondering what cab to use with it. It's damaged and not complete. The cab is with it but not really usable. I heard it will work with the AMT Western Star cab which is my plan. Also there is no grill. What would make a good grill?

Mack B-81SX Done.
James Maynard replied to rekcirb13's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Nice Mack. Are the rims and tires resin too? -
So some of you might remember me asking about cutting a Titan 90 down to a daycab a few months back. Well I did and finally got the little truck finished. The cab is as says. The frame is from the 75th anniversary Freightliner kit the engine is from the AMT International 4070 kit. The wheels are from my parts box. The cab does tilt but it always knocks the front bumper off when it does. This was my first ever attempt at shortening a cab. I made the mirrors from paper clips and scrap plastic.

Ok guys thank you this will help hopefully. I think I'll try the evergreen method. I was at a complete stand still on this one. My 57P went on it's frame pretty good I only had to cut two pieces of evergreen to rest the back of the sleeper on but this cabover just didn't look like it would fit at all.

Thank you. The color is actually darker than the pic shows. You can see the actual color in the WIP I posted about this truck a while back. -

Yep working on it now. -
This one was tough. What's even tougher is taking pics of it. It's heavy and hard to pick up. But it's finally finished.

Cutting GMC Astro 95 cab to a day cab.
James Maynard replied to James Maynard's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Yes right behind the doors. This is perfect. Thanks so much. -
As the title say I'm asking if anyone here has ever cut an AMT GMC Astro 95 cab making it a day cab. I'm looking to try it and put the cab on the Freightliner single axle frame. I have 2 cabs to work with I just need to know exactly where to cut it how much to remove and what is the best thing to cut it with.

My International Transtar CO-4070A

Looks great. I love these kits. I like how you shortened the frame. I put one of these on a Peterbilt Pacemaker frame to get a shorter frame.
