  1. Thanks for the comments everyone, cheers!
  2. Thanks, unfortunately I didn't take any, it's just the box stock Z28 engine, block done also in the Fluorescent orange. If I do take some I'll add it to the post. Cheers!
  3. Hi guys, I'd like to share my most recent build, I call it the Skunkworks Z28. It is the 1969 Camaro Z28/RS model from Revell, built box stock except for the slotted rims and tires which come from the Monogram Ford Street T Roadster and Trailer kit. All of the chrome was stripped and painted using Alclad, but keeping the coats to a minimum to go for more of a dark chrome look. The front facia inner area and rear taillight panels were done in Fluorescent orange, and the body is finished in Tamiya Acrylic German Grey XF-63 and cleared with Tamiya Semi-Gloss Clear X--35. The Skunkworks Decals come from the Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk Kit, and the numbers come from an unknown Gundam decal sheet. Since this generation of Camaro is already stunning, I just wanted to put my own spin on it with the wheel/tire combo and a unique paint job. Enjoy!
  4. Nice clean build!
  5. Thank you very much, and thanks everyone for the comments!
  6. Thanks for all of the comments, and yes I was inspired by this look, also the many Subaru WRX's which carry the same theme.
  7. Excellent work!
  8. Great build!
  9. Hi all, here's another model I recently completed. Started in 2014, I lost motivation due to the quality of the plastic. This General Lee MPC kit was really poorly molded, even with quite a bit of bodywork there's still alot of defects that show through. I eventually decided to just paint it as is and at least get it off of the desk, which is why some areas are not perfect. I de-chromed everything on the chrome tree, and redid those parts with Alclad. The wheels I sprayed a Zero Paints gold and left them in a matte finish. The body is painted Zero Paints Light Blue Metallic with Tamiya Clear, and the interior the same Zero Paints Light Blue Metallic over black, matte finish. I chose not to do the rear panel black for something different, the rest is all stock. The most fun for me was the photoshoot and trying out new lighting techniques, it's there where the car really shines. Cheers!
  10. Thanks again all for the comments, I appreciate it!
  11. Thanks everyone for the comments! Yes multiple light coats did the trick, thanks!
  12. Hi all, it's been a long time since I posted a finished build here on the forum, but finally I found the time to upload some images. The Bonneville Coupe as I call it is basically a box stock 1932 Ford 3-Window Coupe without the fenders. Modifications are the wheel and tire combo, and the straight pipe headers. The paint is Testors Green Metal Flake(1630) from a can, no clear overtop. For more updates on my builds, please follow me on Instagram @scaled_models as I update there regularly. Cheers!
  13. The setup is very simple, the model is sitting on a large piece of black glossy paper, with a matte black paper as a backdrop. I have an LED bicycle headlight which I basically just hold in my hand and try to find different lighting positions as I snap pics, keeping the room lights off. The camera is a Nikon D5500 with an 18-140mm zoom lens on a tripod and I use a remote for the camera to trigger the shutter. I will post a picture of my setup when I get a chance.
  14. Thanks, and yes I left the roof removable, I will take some more pictures soon with the top off to show the interior.
  15. Thanks for the comment. The paint job was actually inspired by the Kia Provo Concept from a couple of years ago:
  16. Hi all! It's been quite a while since I posted any progress on any of my models. I recently set up a new model desk and finally finished up my Dodge Challenger, so here are some studio pictures of the finished build. Enjoy!
  17. Thanks again guys for all of the comments I appreciate it! Cheers!
  18. I don't have the can with me but I believe it is Tamiya TS38 Gun Metal.
  19. Thanks for the comments guys!
  20. The El Camaro you see here is a project I started during Winter 2014, and just recently completed a couple of days ago. The Model is a mix of an unfinished Revell 1978 El Camino Model I had laying around, and Monogram's Frank Iaconio's Pro Stock Camaro. I have always wanted to see what an IROC style El Camino would have looked like, so this was a great chance to try something and have a bit of fun with the surgery. The final bodywork is not my best but I just wanted to wrap up the project and move on to something new. The Interior is basically the stock El Camino interior except for the seats which are from another IROC donor model. I hope you guys enjoy the pics!
  21. Hi guys, has anyone tried using the Zero Paints polishing compound, and if so what was your experience/results like? I just tried it out for the first time today (Clear Coat is Zero Paints 2k) and it actually looks like my Medium compound is much courser then the Course one. Could it be that they are labeled wrong or perhaps thats how it is? I was just polishing by hand using the provided cloth with decent results, but nothing compared to the results I've seen online. Would you guys recommend a buffing wheel on a Dremel to optimize the final polishing steps? Any help or comments are appreciated, thanks!
  22. Thanks for the comments guys!
  23. Here's another update: I've been finishing up some things on the chassis, I won't be going too crazy with the detail on this one, just keeping everything clean and tidy. I mocked up the body on the chassis for the first time, I think so far it's looking great. I need to wait a couple more days and I can start to polish the clear coat and hopefully finish her off this weekend. Enjoy!
