  1. Sweet pickup, love that color and the title fits it well. Nice, clean overall build.
  2. That sounds like it may be the one I am thinking about. I do not specifically remember the brass chassis, all I can almost vividly remember is the work on the headlights and nose section. If you can find them and it isn't too much trouble, could you possibly scan the articles and send them to me by email. Good to know there is someone else who remembers this build.
  3. I am dating myself here, but then I am 67 years old. I remember a custom build from one of the '65-'66 model magazines, maybe Rod & Custom Cars & Models or the other one (can't remember the name, I am old) that used a 1/8 scale Corvette and a 1/8 scale Jaguar E-type. They molded the Jag headlights into the fenders of the Vette and there were several other body mods. If I remember correctly it sort of resembled a Daytona Cobra when finished. Just by chance does anyone else remember this build and have pictures, plans, or the magazine articles about this build? I believe it covered three or four issues, maybe more. It has always been in the back of my mind to try to attempt this build, except in 1/25 scale, it would have to be a whole lot cheaper.
  4. You said it may not be the prettiest build, if it isn't it holds a really high second place. Gorgeous MOPAR and I am a die-hard FORD man.
  5. Why do they still hang around? Just to show they can be a thorn in the side and there is little that can be done about it .
  6. Really cool Impala, looks like the kit went together fairly well. That green is reminiscent of a couple of the hot cars around here in the early 60's, thanks for the memories.
  7. THUD!! That is the sound of my jaw dropping looking at this outstanding piece of art. You must have the hands of a brain surgeon and the eyes of an eagle to have hand-painted all those tools. The colors you use, the weathering, and the mix of textures brings this work alive. BTW, what is that beauty parked in the 1:1 garage?
  8. Thanks for reposting these pictures. Looks really cool, nice work on the cookers. That waterfall and pond is quite convincing, beautiful work.
  9. Outstanding scratch work on this build. Love everything about it; quality building at its best.
  10. I have been lurking for sometime and figured it is time to let you know a bit about me. I am a retired USAF Hercules, Phantom, BUFF, Tanker fixer; also worked in Ground Communications for the last three years. I gave them 21 years 2 months and 18 days; but then who is counting. I was also a United Methodist minister for twelve years, but am now retired. To stay busy I drive a school bus for Starmount middle/high school. Strongly believe in UNC basketball and Carolina Panthers football. Got my first kit for Christmas 1959 - an AMT 40 Ford Coupe trophy series kit and was immediately addicted. Over the next several years I collected more than 200 kits, mostly AMT & MPC annuals, plus many of the trophy series. In '84 I sold off all my kits because I was no longer building and got tired of packing and moving them every couple of years. In '94 I was at Michael's and found a Lindberg '66 Chevelle and a Revell Gordon Monte Carlo NASCAR kit for $5 each - thoughts of a Smokey Yunick Chevelle filled my brain. Since then I have amassed more than 300 kits and build maybe two or three a year; the M/C has been built but the Chevelle is still waiting its turn. I guess if I had to choose I would say older circle track and drag cars are my favorite, although I like to stretch my imagination to full customs and the occasional over-the-edge build.
  11. This topic is quite interesting to me; however for some reason I am unable to get the pictures. Any suggestions?
