  1. 5mm x 3mm?...OUCH! Get well quick Capt.
  2. HOUSE! HOUSE! You don't need no steenkin' house! Get going on that diorama!!! LOL! Seriously, Good Luck with the new house Eelco and keep us updated on dio progress.
  3. Yea, I missed a couple of those pics my first time through too! Great Job Scott! I'd love to see more of the details though. Any more pics?
  4. Thanks for the link Capt.! Java, great detail on that garage dio. I'd love to see som e more pics and a closer look at some of the details. BTW, only a sick mind has a workbench THAT clean! LOL!

  6. How realistic! made me run for the bathroom!
  7. How about posting a link Java , I'm too lazy for searching! (actually, I can't spell for sh!^^)
  8. Nice set-up you have there Rick! Great job with that kit and the tools...
  9. Eelco, Not sure what kit Capt. Bondo is referring to but this kit has hard plastic styrene walls, much sturdier than cardboard. As the fellows have mentioned, one of these "modules" would be too small for displaying a model with a "ton" of details in the backround. I have done a couple of these together (see pics below) and ended up turning what was going to be a backdrop for taking photos into a full fledged "Hobby Garage" with a ton of different projects going on. I covered the plain plastic walls with cinder block sheets from plastructs and with stained balsa. I scratchbuilt most of the tools and furniture but used much of the kit tools first. You can get an idea about how big these 2 kits together would be by the small model T rod in the left front corner of the dio (covered with a tarp and a ton of boxes). Model Car Magazine ran a 3 part article in what I think was the August, Oct, and DEc issues of 2007 on building this type of dio. Maybe that can help you with your dio building. If you live in the states, I may have an extra base and walls from this kit that I can donate to help widen your dio. Lmk if i can help in any way.
  10. Very helpful James. Thank you. Do you manufacture diorama pieces out of any of the extra parts?
  11. Thanks for the input Clay. Can you be more specific as to what "other things" you might use the sprue for?
  12. Here's the scenerio; you have just put the finishing touches on your new model car and you have a bunch of parts left over in the box. Do you: A) save the extra parts for a future car Use the extra parts as trunk, interior or engine details on THIS build C) Use these parts for a future diorama D) Use the parts, tires, wheels, styrene sprue, clear sprue and chrome for scratchbuilding more detailed parts for this car and for my diorama. Please answer this question WITH DETAIL as to what you like to do with the extra parts and even what you do with the box. Credit will be given if the idea is used. Thanks for your help!
  13. Hey Lucky, Glad to hear you are about to venture into the diorama world. I have a feeling that once your IN, you won't want to leave. Before answering your questions, I would ask some questions. 1) am I on a budget? 2) What to use for a base? 3) Will I be using this to photograph my models? 4) How much room do I want this to take up? 5) What raw materials am I familiar with or already have to work with (wood for base, posterboard for walls, drywall for floor or walls etc. etc.) 6) What scale am I working with? 7) Will this be a professional garage/body shop or a hobbyist garage? Think about these questions, mainly the ones about raw materials that you have laying around that you could put to good use. It is a lot like planning a model build (color, style, chopping, cutting, wiring, lumbing etc.). We have a very diverse group of dio builders here and I think we can answer any question you could throw at us. Give it a shot and keep us updated with eye-candy!
  14. WOW Dave! Love the camera angle of that shot!
  15. Hey Squirt, Sounds like a very ambitious project. Looks like you are well on your way with all the details and landscaping. As for skeeter pictures, I do not have any builds of skeeters but a google search turned up these: https://www.racingjunk.com/post/1321424/vin...r-modified.html http://www.racecarsofyesterday.com/cars1.htm Don't know if that'll help much but if you need suggestions on landscaping, signage or track building, please feel free to post some questions here...along with progress pics of course! Hopefully someone else here has some better ideas. Try the race car section of the forum.
  16. WOW Dave! You give good road!
  17. Here are a few reference pics from dios I'd built a while back that may/may not help in your building: ramps compressor stand
  18. Great little detail that would look nice in a scene. One thing I always keep in mind is to treat each piece as if it is its' own diorama. You have obviously done that here. Great job Jody.
  19. Looks great RV. I like the spider. Not too big from where I can see. Like you said...a big hairy tarantula. I like the details and the weathering. The only thing I would suggest is to make sure you drill out the hub and lug nuts when displaying a wheel that is disconnected from a car. Well done!!!!!!
  20. Rick, et al, where's the party tonight? We are here at the Days Inn looking for hooke...err...something to eat...errr...I mean someplace to go. Left the blue stuff in Jersey!
  21. Glad to hear you are on the mend Clay!
  22. OK, How many guys put their knees together when they read this?????????
  23. Eric, Maybe getting your Mom involved with your hobby will get her to understand a little more. Ask her what she thinks about a certain color of paint on a car or if she thinks that red or yellow flames would look nice...etc. etc. Maybe she will get more excited if she was PART of the building process. just a thought.
