  1. Great looking Nomad! I really like the Old School look (it's what I grew up with). Like your color choice too. BMF job looks good to me, also. Too many people tend to leave too much excess that makes a chrome strip look fat. Yours is NOT one of them. You've got a great looking car, be proud!
  2. What would be the best tube RTV silicon for making a mold of side trim? I've done it years ago, but cannot remember what I used.
  3. Wat kit is that? the AMT?
  4. I was gonna ask what color he used for that. It is gorgeous. I know that Testors has a color very similiar to Dusk Pearl in their 2-part system. Look forward to seeing the finished project.
  5. I'm not Marcos, but as you can see, I have always been a big fan of the AMT '57 Chevy. It was one of my first "big" kits, back in the 60s. But... ... that tooling is very old and showing it's age now. While I have yet to do one of the new ones, I have looked at them and was very impressed with what I saw. I look forward to building one of them.
  6. So, tell us what paints will you be using on this? Inquiring minds want to know.
  7. See my fix at: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=6492
  8. The Revell '56 Nomad is a great kit, except for one thing... ... that too long front pan and bumper.! I don't know if you have all seen "Forrest Gump", but every time I look at that Nomad's front pan and bumper,it's like looking at Bubba's lip. May have supposed to be on Bubba, but not that Nomad!! So I decided to work on the fix. Good ol' "Eyeball Engineering Inc." Take the pan and remove the center brace from the bottom and set it aside. Once you have that done, make a line that is about .145 parallel to all the back edge of the pan and cut that away. Then do the same to the frame braces (.145), but far enough back that you will not lose the mounting "humps" for the pan. You'll also want to do the same with the center brace.
  9. That's just gorgeous! Beautiful build!
  10. Yeah!! What they said! Beautiful paint and detailing!
  11. Yeah, me too. I always liked that kit. That's the only one that I ever totally plumbed and wired. Even added a dip stick! The flip front is "Angel" I painted her like my 1:1 '57 Bel Air 4-door.
  12. Spent most of the weekend cleaning and polishing my old builds, so I could really put them "Under Glass. I though you might enjoy seeing one of my last builds that I did before I went into my 11 year hiatus. The idea was good, but the funds and engineering were short.
  13. What kind of compressor did you use, and at what pressure? I'm not sure my compressor has enough gumption to work it.
  14. Moon Pie

    sleeper?

It looks exactly like a car my Dad had, but it didn't have that kind of power.
  15. WOW!! I'd say you nailed it dead on! Very nice job.
  16. That's very good advice from Mr Obsessive. It's the big reason I dropped out of the hobby 10 or 11 years ago. Along with being an officer in our club, I got caught up in the competition big time, and it got to be more like working a second job than having fun. Don't fall into that trap, because you'll miss out on a great hobby.
  17. Two thumbs up!
  18. Looking forward to it!
  19. Thanks for the kind words, Ron. It has been mutually beneficial. Phillip has learned the "old school" stuff from me, and he has taught me to think outside the box. In this day and age where parents and children all too often, go their own separate ways, it's quite enjoyable!
  20. Holy Moly! That's outstanding!! She's a winner.
  21. I really like the way you filled in the gap at the radiator cowl and the hood. I may use that idea on my '37 Chev convertible! Great work, keep us updated.
  22. I've wanted to build a '57 Nomad for a long time, but have put it off because I never could find a kit that the body proportions looked right. Has anybody improved on their kits? who would you recommend? Thanks!
  23. Looking good, Red Ranger! I was not aware that you researched those out like that. Really like your choice of wheels on the Mustang! ( yeah, we're both Phill Stricklin. He is my youngest son. Kinda think a little of the ol' man rubbed off on him! )
