  1. I'll tell you what irked me today... over the last couple weeks I have laid down an awesome black paint job on a Revellogram 78 trans am. Resourced an old set of decals for TA lettering, and placed them. Then covered it with a WET slick clear coat... OMG I was so tickled with how it had all came out....... Until today... The first pic shows how it looked before the clear. mmmm... I seen better, but this was mmmm mmmmmmm good.... now it looks like this.... This makes you wanna throw it all away....
  2. I have so much to be thankful for this year. My son is on the mend. There is still much improvement daily. Now that we are home from the hospital, I don't see him as much. But when I do, I'm completely blown away how different everything is since the last visit. Monday morning, we go back to the hospital for outpatient surgery to remove the brackets from his mouth. Minor procedure, but he will have to be put to sleep for it. Rehab is going great.... On the downside I just found out I'm getting laid off and the medical bills have started rolling in. Makes me cringe a bit every time I open an envelope...But well worth every penny. Thanks again to all my forum family. I appreciate it all! Happy Thanksgiving!
  3. Awesome job, Joe! That is one fine El Camino!
  4. Wondering if anyone casts a more accurate front end for the AMT 72 Chevelle?
  5. My son went to his neurologist yesterday. His brain shows signs of bruising, but no bleeding in sight! Today 11/15, which is his mom's birthday, he got his feeding tube taken out. Great things are happening!!
  6. Folks I just wanted to let you know that my boy was discharged today. He still has his feeding tube in his stomach for the time being, but his jaw has partially been unwired. We're home and about to start the next leg of his journey. Outpatient rehab process will be several months... I want to thank you all again for the prayers, thoughts, and well wishes. He has read the thread and thanks you all, too.
  7. THIS!!!!
  8. They have been unbelievably impressed with his progress, especially this week. And I gotta say, he is one excited guy
  9. Looks like we may be getting out tomorrow. Mouth still going to be wired shut, and outpatient rehab for several months, but still going to be going home!
  10. Awesome!! That truck is great!
  11. Congratulations! Awesome build! I haven't been home to post mine in the finished section, but as compared it fell far short of yours anyways.
  12. I'll join in. Me and my son from back in the summer
  13. Thank you. He is on the mend and actually doing very well. I dont know, but i'm looking on eBay during his naps. Hoping something grabs my attention.
  14. That's right! They have removed his trAch tube. He is now breathing extremely well without it. His balance and walking continue to improve. And he vision in his left eye is gradually improving also! Everything is still moving at a forward direction! Tomorrow we start training as a family to continue care and rehabilitation after his discharge. Still hoping for a date next week.
  15. Awesome looking builds guys. I'm afraid I'm not going to make it to the starting line. My frame was badly warped, which was giving me fits. With my son's accident, all the modeling has been put on hold. Looking forward to everyone's finishers and hopefully make an appearance next year. Model on!
  16. Yesterday the doctors and rehabilitation team got together to discuss progression status, to try to come up with a target date. At this time, as long as he stays on the path he's on now, we have a projected discharge of 11/7! He's determined to get home, though some of his rehab sessions leave him a little frustrated. When we have one of those, we have a good pep talk and he's good to go. Yesterday we rolled up in front of a window and looked at how the cooler weather had taken over since he's been in there. And then played cards for over and hour. That is the most time he's been able to do anything since being awake... Due to fatigue or unable to focus. It was awesome, and he felt so good afterwards that he had been able to play for so long. Weve sat and talked of memories, that he's starting to have.. Does this old cold heart good to see him smiling and even laughing again. Thank you all again for the kind words and prayers. He has read them, and says thank you also.
  17. My son has now began walking without the walker. Just a belt around him in case he starts the fall the PT can hold him up! Thank you all again for the kind words, thoughts and prayers.
  18. Thank you everyone!! The support this family shows is heartwarming to say the very least. I thank you all... And the kiddo gave a thumbs up when I showed him the thread.
  19. Folks I'm about to bust at the seams... They got him up for PT today. Was going to walk for the first time in 2 weeks... Not only did he walk from the bed to door (with a walker, PT, and me in tow) he walked all the way down the hallway and back. I said, man I'm shocked. His PT said, you are not the only one.
  20. Thank you everyone. It is all appreciated immensely! And I have to get this out there... HIS LEFT EYE HAS A LITTLE RESPONSE TO IT!!! And the PT said his range of motion has improved so much they are impressed!!
  21. I thank you all... I will give an update for today. When I got to his room this morning his eye was open. I talked to him. He shook his head yes and no. I told him I loved him... He fist bumped me. Dear old dad had a moment.
  22. When I started typing last night, it was more or less just to vent. I've not had the chance to get it all out. It helped, and now reading what has been added is all amazing and very appreciated! Thank you all for the prayers, kind words and well wishes!
  23. A week ago today, 12:30 am, I received a phone call that I never dreamed of but have feared since my son started driving. He hit a slick spot on an old country road and slid driver's door first into a tree. He was found by a passerby, who called in the crash. The rescue squad cut him out of the truck and they transported him to trauma CCU in Nashville. He suffered several fractures to his face and skull, suffered from brain bleeding, and damage to his left eye, but miraculously no injuries from the neck down. He has been on a trach ventilator and basically asleep since. They reconstructed his face and skull on Monday. Wired his mouth shut, and have started weening him off the ventilator alittle bit at a time. Today he was sat on the side of the bed and followed a few basic commands, like touch my hand, touch your nose, give me a thumbs up... And today was the first time he opened his right eye while I was in there... Afterwards I had a little break down. Such small things that are taken for granted, is such a big deal in our world right now. They are talking about transferring him to a 1st tier rehab facility by the weekend. Oh how far he's come in a week, but oh how far he has to go. I've dealt with several things in life, but nothing has beat me up like this. An emotional rollercoaster is the absolute only way to describe this week. And we're looking at a couple of months from here at the very least. But hes tough and stubborn and a fighter... By the grace of the Lord, he's headed in the right direction.
  24. I concur... all forums I've been on have them. Most do have it hidden, unless you're a member though.
