  1. Just the reference to field cars. Remember the film took place in 1962. I was in high school in Tucson Arizona then, and many of my friends had cars (chopped down) "Field Cars" as mentioned. Some of the trucks in the pictures look to be from the fifty's.
  2. Nice Downer reply. This is a typical Monogram / Tom Daniels kit, but hey it is what it is. Looking back through this thread it looks like it was fun and inspirational to many, if that's your thing.
  3. This is a great "Slump Buster" http://www.internetmodeler.com/2001/september/first-looks/revell_badman2.htm
  4. Dave McGowan brings us this kool PU http://www.showrods.com/gallery_pages/2002_contest/badman_iv.html
  5. From the Coffin Corner http://coffincorner.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=2555
  6. Anyone seen any other versions? I saw a Monogram '53 Chevy done up, sorry don't have any pictures.
  7. One great thing I've always liked about this kit is the open grill. Can't get enough of them.
  8. . . . and Darin comes through, thanks buddy. Too bad Round @ dropped the ball with their "new" wheel addition. Count me out.
  9. But now it's a federal mandate, and special ed students that used to be in a self contained classroom are now infused ( at a one in five ratio) into the regular classrooms of more than 35 students.
  10. Yeah, I read all that. Why not just show us what books you liked Brandon. I often Google books I've heard about here on the board. There are many sources. Just picked up a really old one from Aurora Plastics.
  11. Another thread with much concern about the use of words and grammar was on the board a few days back. I got to thinking about my distaste of the term "dizzy" used for a distributor and realized it wasn't any different than others problems with other terms used here on the board. I thought the thread did cover the topic very well in that "build" and "kit" were words/ terms used frequently here on the board, making them, pretty much colloquial ( characteristic of or appropriate to ordinary or familiar conversation rather than formal speech or writing; informal.) Looking back through the years Hot Rod magazine writers have continually tried ( sometimes successful, sometimes not ) to introduce new words to the hobby. For what it's worth, you wont find the term Hot Rod once in any issue of the magazine Throttle ( predecessor to Hot Rod by several years). You will also be hard pressed to find the term "Gow Job" in any Hot Rod magazine before the 2000's. My point is our language as our hobby is forever changing. Like it or not. Boy this makes me dizzy.
  12. I was thinking about this the other day. When the model car industry really got started they were mostly based on Promotional kits. or at best kits based on the car manufactures Promo's. Did they need Licenses to sell these kits? What if the model company's didn't need to licenses trademarks to sell kits? Where would we be today? What would the kits be like? By the way the new '57 Ford (registered trademark) has " No Name" tires.
  13. Hector, welcome aboard. Is that you in that jet cockpit ?
  14. OKAY ! Get that dictionary out again and look up "scratch built" , this is th picture you'll find: http://www.craftsmanshipmuseum.com/wingrove.htm
  15. . . . and now back to our regular program. Lots of scratch building in these ole R n' C issues.
  16. . . . and I'll bet Joseph isn't really a Chief. But I do believe he is correct in ,as did Bill ( who probably (prolly) isn't an Ace) their opinions.. My guess is Harry needs a new dictionary. Do they still make those ?
  17. I remember that one. wonder if the light feature is still in the kit? It was just a hole in the grill section that held a bulb.
  18. saw this last year in Japan, three kit was a Zero fighter. I'm pretty sur it was cheaper and you could get the parts packs at a book store. The built up kit was increadable.
  19. are there empty spots on the tree ?
