  1. Mark I enjoy it and I have plenty more pictures I'll post along I don't want to founder people with them. Jim
  2. Mark that car is very nice! the one I remember from 67 was maroon where yours is gold. The gold looks alot better/ you did a great job!
  3. Mark, Ive been building models since 1958 and still very much enjoy it!I see you are a Rex White fan well I've got a story, in 67 Rex showed up at the New Asheville Speedway with a 55 Chevy Sportsman car, practiced once, qualified on the pole, won his heat, won the main easily, drove straight to the hauler and loaded car and left. that really bothered me cause I was helping Jackie Fox in the same race but never heard anything. In 2ooo while working for Andy Petree JiM Covey came out there(he was the head of GM racing) and I asked him if he knew anything about what Rex was doing well he said Rex was running the then new 350 engine with electronic fuel injection doing testing for them.
  4. Your model is great! Thank you for doing it.I built the engines for those 5 races 3 were won with the same engine but Martinsville was anew block assembly but the same heads and intake was used on all and I welded the heads(all 40 hours) racing was fun then. And we lost brakes at Wilkesboro, Harry really had them covered that day!
  5. Your idea for the 6cyl Camaro is great! Love those in line 6cyl engines.
  6. X and Y cars, an honor to Mr.Toy Jones. They ran in the late 50's and early 60's around Asheville. McCormick Field and Asheville Weaverville speedways. Banjo Matthews drove the X and Dickie Plemmons drove the Y and Mr. Jones was the smarts behind them.
  7. Thanks for the kind words, I'll get some pictures on here in a few days. I'm not computer literate so I have to get my son to help me.
  8. I enjoyed Hickory too back in the day. Roy Trantham ran real good there as well as alot of others like Setzer and Bob Pressley. Thank you and I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures got some more I'll post later.
  9. Thank you, I do too. I've got a bunch of them, mostly the old limited sportsman 37 to 40 cars that raced around here in the early 60's. i built race engines for Leo Jackson 1985 thru 96 and Andy Petree 97 thru2002 to me that racing did not compare to the old racing.
  10. This is a car a late friend (Mike Reeves) ran at the New Asheville Speedway in 1967 and yes it was Nascar sanctioned.
  11. Mr. Jones told me years ago the X was built out of a 39 Standard. PPP {David Hawkins} has very good wide 5 wheels.
