Very good! be proud of your work. -
I've been using 409 cleaner (not the lemon scented) for about 40 years removing chrome it usually gets 90 to100 percent in 24 to 48 hrs.

This car looks GREAT fantastic job!

Thank ya'll very much these old cars are very special to me.

Both look very good! I built race motors for Harry the years he ran for Leo Jackson (89 thru his retirement) and I knew Jack and did alot of welding on his engine parts for Ben Barnes. That was a special time for racing.

I love them too, I always wanted a 49 cause that was the year i was born. Had a chance to buy this one about 20 yrs ago, had a worn out big block and a not so good AOD trans so I had the 292 it runs alot better now. -
I like it, had heard of the engine but never seen one.

You're right had a3.42 gear in it for awhile and it spun alot even when you did'nt want to and the 2.42 is really good on the highway,as you said they make TORQUE. -
Very NEAT!

This is my 49 Chevrolet 2dr sedan it has a 292 (.060 over) solid cam,9 to1 compression, bigger valves, headers, alum intake,600 holley, and hei ignition. also a67 Camaro drum brake front section, modified turbo 350 and a 7.5in 2.42 rear.runs good and drives good and has plenty of torque. The 292 is a straight 6 originally out of a 65 school bus.

Ralph drove this car at the New Asheville Speedway in 1962,1963,and 1964,won the track championship in 63 and totaled it in 64 . Bob Pressley thought Ralph spun him in the heat so in the main in turn 4 Bob hooked him in the right rear so he hit the wall hard it cracked the wall and knocked the track lights out. In 1962 Ralph could'nt out run Dickie Plemmons in the 18 car,Nascar tore down the top 4 finishers I was talking to Toy Jones who was the smarts behind the 18 car and Ralph came up and said Jones can Iook under the back of your car Mr. Jones said look all you want Ralph slid under the 18 for about 5 minutes got out and Jones said see what you wanted and Ralph just smiled, he won the rest of the races that year. The V8 was owned by the Pressley brothers of Canton,N.C.

Mark, Ive been building models since 1958 and still very much enjoy it!I see you are a Rex White fan well I've got a story, in 67 Rex showed up at the New Asheville Speedway with a 55 Chevy Sportsman car, practiced once, qualified on the pole, won his heat, won the main easily, drove straight to the hauler and loaded car and left. that really bothered me cause I was helping Jackie Fox in the same race but never heard anything. In 2ooo while working for Andy Petree JiM Covey came out there(he was the head of GM racing) and I asked him if he knew anything about what Rex was doing well he said Rex was running the then new 350 engine with electronic fuel injection doing testing for them.

Your model is great! Thank you for doing it.I built the engines for those 5 races 3 were won with the same engine but Martinsville was anew block assembly but the same heads and intake was used on all and I welded the heads(all 40 hours) racing was fun then. And we lost brakes at Wilkesboro, Harry really had them covered that day!

Thank ya'll very much!
