  1. I saw it on sunday,it was an OK movie.I would complain about the price of admission but my fiancee bought my ticket. The cars were really nice to look at.The red 1970 Chevelle SS was my favorite. It was when the cars actually began to move that the movie became laughable. The plot holes and flaws are to numerous to list. It's a decent movie to kill a sunday afternoon, especially if your not paying for the ticket. If your a stickler for accuracy and realistic street racing scenes I'd avoid this movie, otherwise you'll spend the entire time picking it apart as I did. This is just my 2 cents, I'm sure some enjoyed it immensely.
  2. I have'nt been able to build in awhile due to some health issues. Finally able to get started back last week.Picked up this kit a local HobbyTown that recenty opened. The theme I have in mind for the car is a typical 10.50 E.T. street racer. It's got a supercharged SBF, 6 point cage, mini tubs etc.....you get the Idea. The cowl hood is hand made, not perfect by a long shot, but it was my 1st attempt and learned alot to apply towards my next attempt. Here's a few photos of it being mocked up.Please excuse the less than stellar photos, just getting the hang of the camera.
  3. Dude that build is awesome,I think the hood will take it over the top.Kinda makes me think of a Tom Daniels kit, it would probably have "GHOUL INDUCTION" or something like that on the hood....lol.Very nice looking build.
  4. Rubbing alcohol works as well.I had never used it til recently.I had an old built up that I wanted too restore.I tried CSC, brake fluid and Easy Off w/ no real luck.I tried rubbing alcohol as a last resort and within a few hours it was almost down too bare plastic, the next day,I gave it a good scrubbing w/ Joy and a toothbrush, and 99% of the paint was gone. The rubbing alcohol I used was 91%, it's relatively cheap, it was $1.58 at Wal mart.
  5. Looks awesome so far, the customer should love it.I remember buying this kit at a church rummage sale in 1979 for a $1, of course being 9 mine quckly turned into a glue bomb. Can't wait too see this one finished........
  6. I usually have the TV on for noise. For some reason I like building on Sat and Sun morning while Spike TV runs it 's "PowerBlock" of automotive shows, seems too get me motivated.
  7. Rick, you have my condolenses.spinal injuries are no laughing matter.I've had 3 major spinal surgeries.I suffer from degenerative disc disease, so I truly feel your pain.As far as the model building part goes, I picked up several of those Polar Light's and Amt pre painted kits for about $4 at Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago, washed them and cleared them w/ some Krylon clear and they actually look pretty nice, I foiled over the painted chrome and they looked even better. These kits kinda give you a jump start and make nice looking "shelf" models.
  8. The PlayBoy Bunny does'nt spell out Playboy but you associate that image w/ PlayBoy, the same holds true for Marlboro. Whether the word Marlboro is removed or not that red and white image is clearly recgnizable and associated w/ Marlboro. It's called brand recognition. Marketers engaged in branding seek to develop or align the expectations behind the brand experience, creating the impression that a brand associated with a product or service has certain qualities or characteristics that make it special or unique. A brand image may be developed by attributing a "personality" to or associating an "image" with a product or service, whereby the personality or image is "branded" into the consciousness of consumers. A brand is therefore one of the most valuable elements in an advertising theme. The art of creating and maintaining a brand is called brand management. A brand which is widely known in the marketplace acquires brand recognition. When brand recognition builds up to a point where a brand enjoys a critical mass of positive sentiment in the marketplace, it is said to have achieved brand franchise. One goal in brand recognition is the identification of a brand without the name of the company present If you removed the words Marlboro from the above image it is still recognizable and associated w/ the brand it is intended too represent.
  9. I think this is The Formula One racer that you are referring too. There's a photo of a contest build of this race car in the the April 2007 issue of the previously mentioned "zine".It's on page 43 bottom left hand corner.

    68 Elky!

Looks good Jery, you always take really nice outside pics............
  11. Was this the same "zine" that doesn't allow you too post pics of certain orange Charger on their site, unless you cover up a certain well known flag?
  12. I get mine from a variety of sources,LHS, Wal Mart(it's hard too beat new releases for $10.96), online hobby stores, Hobby Lobby , Michaels, they both offer 40% off coupons, and of course Ebay.I probably buy more off Ebay than anywhere else.
