Ford LNT8000 snowplow
PierreR89 replied to PierreR89's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Thanks. I will try that and if that dont work for me i think i will use some thin steel wire and drill holes where they are going to be. That way the glue will have more surface area to grap on to. -
Finally felt it was time to build this kit that i have had for a few years now. I have not built it earlier because i was a little scared of the diecast parts in it but now after i have started it is not much more different then the normal plastic kits. Just takes more time to let the glue harden and much more sanding as the flashing is metal instead of plastic. Sofar i have only got the frame and engine togheter and i think they are ready for painting very soon. Just the frame on this is heavier then the entire Ford snowplow i just built.

I did not like the look of them at first but then they kind of grew on me and i felt like i needed them to stand next to my LTL9000 i alredy have built.

Been building this for a few weeks and it got done yesterday. I made the plow being able to move up and down by drilling some small holes and then using a brass rod as a hinge for it. It also moves side to side as they do on the real plowtrucks. But the thing i noticed with it being able to move like the real trucks was that the hydraulic hoses kept coming off from their mounts and thats why they are not attached on it now. Might try to add them later.

Found these on ebay and bought them. The Aeromax kits are starting to get hard to find at a decent price but these were not overpriced as the others on there are. The Volvo i got because i was thinking of using the low roof on my Revell F12 with 3 axles to make it look more like the trucks i used to see on the road when i was a kid. Might also try and use the roof as a template to build one myself and see how that goes if i dont want to use the globetrotter roof from the Revell kit on any of them. One of the decal versions might go on the Revell kit because those are damaged and this kit has 3 different versions in it.

Autocar dumptruck
PierreR89 replied to PierreR89's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Thanks. I think it looks better with this darker silver/gray on the dump body then it does with the silver on the box it comes in. -
Büssing 8000 s13
PierreR89 replied to PierreR89's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Thanks. Yes they are cool and somtime it will be displayed toghether with the Krupp Titan when it is built. Just hope that Revell will reissue the Hanomag trailer that goes with these to trucks because the trailer is really expensive right now. -
Kenworth challenge mixer
PierreR89 replied to PierreR89's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Thanks, i am going to take a picture of it togheter with the dumptruck and the aother autocar Thanks. -
This is something that i think i will start building sometime within a month or 2 so there will not be much right now. I have wanted to build this for a few years now and now i finally have all the parts i need for it. I have 2 of the K100 aerodyne kits and decided to keep one stock and turn one in to this. Not much will be out of the box on this build and i also decided to make it look like an Australian truck so there will be many Auslowe parts on it. For the engine i decided to use it the CAT3408 from a W900 kit just beacue i have 2 of them just laying around, one build and one unbuilt. I have not yet decided what crane i want to use on it but i am thinking that the KFS crane will look better then the crane that comes with Italeris accessory kit.

This i built about a month ago and had time to take pictures of it today. Orange and black to match my Autocar tractor and Kenworth mixer.

Built this a few weeks ago and have not had time to take pictures of it untill today. I messed up some parts because of unclear instructions. I decided to use the wide front tires on it because i think it looks good on it. The paint i used for the tires was Revell matt 9 enamel, it is almost an identical match to the black on the normal tires that are in the kit. The reason i painted it orange and black like this is to match my Autocar tractor and Autocar dumptruck.

This kit is done now other then some minor fitting problems and errors in the instructions it was fun and almost fell togheter by it self. After many AMT kits this was a well needed break from them. The paint is bad in some areas because it reacted to itself during the second coating so that was a bit dissapointing. On the good side it is only noticeable when looking close at it, a few feet away and you dont notice it.

Completed interior. The truck is done now so the rest of the pics are in in the under glass section. -
Büssing 8000 s13
PierreR89 replied to PierreR89's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
The bed is complete now and just have to paint the details on it. I think i am going to make the crossbars look like real wood to even if they are not seen if i choose to use the tarp. Not sure if i am going to paint the tarp beige as they want or keep it this way because that is what i am used to see in reality. Also just put the hood on it just to see if there are any problems with it and there were some i have to fix. -

PierreR89 replied to PierreR89's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Thanks. Yes there is. An small update, i have started to paint it now and started assembly of it. Still a few small things i have to paint on it before i can call the chassie and drivetrain done. Engine and radioator is just loosle fitted in it for the pic's Radiator and engine are not yet completly painted. -
Been a while since i did a thread in this section. I got this kit a few days ago and started building it. Everything about it is huge compared to a normal truck kit and just for fun i have put my Bedford beside it to show the sizedifference between them. They are roughly from the same era and both are 1/24. Just the gearbox of this thing is bigger then the engine for the bedford. It is soon time to paint things so i can keep building it. Frame: Radiator: Wheels: Engine: Sizedifference between this and the bedford:

I got these a few days ago. The Büssing 8000 and Krupp titan are huge compared to my other trucks. The enigne for the büssing is about the same size as the cab and enginecompartment of my Bedford towtruck in the same scale. The gearbox is the same size as the bedford engine.

Revell volvo f12 frame shortshot.
PierreR89 replied to PierreR89's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I will try that and see if i can get them fixed. If not i have to think of some way to hide the bad sections of the frame Unfortunatley i cant do the first step because the short bit of frame that is bad had fell of of it self, but the second framerail are still attached to the sprue. -
Anyone here that have fixed a frame that has a shortshot? I opened my volvo f12 kit from revell and saw that both frameralis are bad in this kit. The left rail in the sprue is not even attached to it self. Is there any way to fix it or is it easier to make new frameralis from scratch? Getting new ones from revell will never happen as this kit is from the early 90's I am writing this from my phone if the formating looks wierd.

IH Transtar 4070a
PierreR89 replied to PierreR89's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Thanks. Yes it is bright but it is a high vis jacket that i am wearing when i am outside and at work so i can be seen when i am moving around when it is dark outside. Thanks. This was one of the better one from AMT that i have built, but being all new it should be better then reissues from the 70's where there are more guesswork then looking at the instructions. I was not sure about the purple metallic i choose for it but i think it looks good in it There are a few thing i still need to fix on it but for now i am calling it done. -
Finally got some time after my move to finally start building again. Only thing that i did not like with this kit was the gigant spruemount points on the backside of many parts. Other then that it was a fun build. The yellow reflecting in the chromeparts is just my jacket.

Bought this today. Brings back alot of memorys from when i was little and my dad sometimes drove a Volvo f12 dumptruck when his N12 dumptruck was at the shop getting repaired. I also drove one from time to time when i worked as a mechanic to pull trailers in to the shop. I could have bought the new release from Italeri but for a true scandinavian truck they always have 3 axles to be able to handle the wintermonths. Maybe i make it in to the dumptruck my dad used to drive or i try to make it look like revells volvo f12 australia did, or just stock and paint it like the one i used to drive from time to time during my 7 years as a truck mechanic.

Kenworth K100 aerodyne idea + questions
PierreR89 replied to PierreR89's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
So a few years later i have finally started thinking about this again. The part with not ordering parts and just use a donor kit has already failed mostly because i decided i want to keep the donor kit as an out of the box build and i just cant destroy a perfectly good kit for a few parts including frame sections. Another reason is that the Revell K100 aerodyne are hard to find now and of the 2 i have i want one to be built out of the box. I decided that it is going to have an australian look so i ordered a few things from auslowe and then ebay for the other parts i needed, engine, axles, frame and tires just so i dont have to rob anything from the other K100 kit i have. Also going to add the crane that italeri have in one of their truck accessory kit to it to make it look more like a heavy hauler and making sense to the twinsteer and triaxle rear. If that crane looks small i might have to see if i can find something that looks better.
