I have not done the wings yet. And I have never attempted foil. I am curious if it can handle decals on that type of surface? -

I started by dry fitting the engine cylinders, and making sure everything lined up, I am learning that you have to think 5 steps ahead to make sure everything lines up, there is quite a bit of drilling and filing that needs to be done to make sure everything goes together well. What I have is about 3 1/2 hours of work and not even close to getting paint on it. -
This is my first attempt at a Model Factory Hiro kit. It is in 1/12 scale. I have chosen to build the Porsche 917 chassis no# 43 hippie. It took second at Le Mans in 1970. This is the long tail version, which was clocked at over 250 mph. During the same race a 917k finished 1st to give Porsche its first ever over all win. I am sure most of you Porsche nuts are more familiar with the 917 in gulf colors. But after doing a little research this cars paint work shares a special place in racing history. I am hoping I can do this car justice. Chris

Looks fantastic Tim, forgive my ignorance, what is the blue for? On your last photo

I have spent so much time on my own stuff I didn’t even take a look at what others are doing. That being said, Tim this is truly amazing stuff, your machining abilities are outstanding. Keep up the great work! I know there is more to come Chris

I really like using this product, lays down really smooth and it’s ready to spray right from the bottle. I do recommend using gravity color from Europe not US. It has to do with how they run the company. -

I have decided a long time ago when I started this build, that I will not be attaching any body panels or wheels to this, I have a idea that I hope will work out.. Anyway I did get some color on the side pods today, I hope you like, nothing fancy but it is red? -

Looking really good, I was curious I have some of those mfh zip clips and the seem to be super fragile. After playing around with them I noticed that they are a lot more playable when super wet. What are your feelings about theese? -

I like all kinds of race cars, I love the history of them and the company’s that build them.. I am a big fan of Ferrari, but I do have a lotus77 and a Mclaren m23. I am eyeing a Ferrari 312pb from model factory hiro. I do wish other companies would make large scale race cars. As a kid I loved doing drag racing models, one of my favorite ones was jungle Jim’s in 1/16 my parents got me for my birthday ! So Tim, what do have in mind sir? -

Well I have a few PE parts to install, and was trying to strip and re paint the chrome to look like polished aluminum. It didn’t go as planned, I have re painted the wing 5 times and was never happy with the shade and shine, or lack of. I tried alclad chrome, polished aluminum and even high shine aluminum. And Molotow twice because I touched it way too soon. And with all the handling and stripping and starting over the detail got sanded away. So I had to get another sprue on eBay. Putting a clear coat on this part has taken a lot of the shine away as I have decals to install. So I’m not trying much ? -

Well done, it’s so funny to see the evolution of a F1car. No wings, little ones no front wing to today’s multi layered monstrosity we see today -

I see that the Admin was a little busy!! So I was a little busy Friday night and Saturday Afternoon. I was a able to get the engine attached to the tub, which to honest was a little nerve racking. After all the work that has been put into the two half’s I didn’t want to mess them up. After getting this milestone completed, I attached the gas tank and all the lines. Then I went onto attaching the radiators and most of the lines to various parts.. there is quite a few pictures. Thank you for looking Chris -
Looks great, well done ?
