  1. Look at pics of the real Foose F100, there's very little chrome on it.
  2. I thought I was the only one who melted a aluminum pan with Super Clean. Mine was on my work table, however it did clean it up nicely.
  3. I'm afraid the traditional hobby shop is fading away. On line shopping gives the buyer an almost unlimited choice of products, something no hobby shop could hope to do. I prefer to buy from my local hobby shop when I can, but they have a limited stock. Another factor is that the majority of plastic modelers are getting up there in years, (myself included) and you just don't see that many younger people getting into the hobby. My local modelers club has over 70 members and we only get one or two models (on a good month) from junior model builders in our monthly contests.
  4. Does anyone know where to find 1/12 scale decals, wheels, tires, accessories etc.?
  5. Yeah, I tried the ruby red, it came out beautiful. It is very transparent so you will need several coats to cover, and experiment with base colors as that can change the look of the final coat. I ended up using a silver base color. The paint is also very thin so be careful or you'll get runs.
  6. Hey, I like that color. I may change my mind about what color I thought I wanted.
  7. I'm building a 67 Shelby GT 350 mustang and am having a little trouble with finding the color I want. The color I'd like is the Dupont 4780 Night Mist Blue. Anybody have an idea as to what that color would translate to in a model paint? I've looked for conversion charts, but nothing so far.
  8. Thanks, I'll give it a try.
  9. Ok, in a previous post I mentioned what a sorry kit the AMT 53 vette was. Some folks kindly offered their advice on specific kits. So..........what do you think about the AMT 67 Shelby Mustang GT 350?
  10. I have built a couple of recent Revell kits and they are pretty nice. I'll come and ask advice next time I'm tempted to buy a AMT kit. The price of the Revell kits isn't a problem, I've been building pretty pricey aircraft and armor kits for the last few years, and some of them are now verging on unaffordable. Thanks for the replies guys.
  11. I've recently started building car kits after a long lay off (really long), and started an old kit of the AMT 53 corvette which I think is really BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH and wanted to know if the terrible fit issues are typical of AMT or is it because this is a old issue. The body is OK but everything else from the interior to the bumpers is awful. I guess I could make everything work but I don't have the patience.
  12. I saw that Ammo by Mig has a line of clear acrylics which look pretty good in his U Tube video.
  13. Thanks for the tips guys. I was thinking that it might have been a reaction, but obviously I didn't allow enough time for the enamel to cure.
  14. It was an acrylic clear coat. Used Pledge. Never had a problem using it over acrylics.
  15. I think I know the answer but maybe someone can confirm my suspicions. I painted a car body with Testors enamel paint, and let it dry for a few days before clear coating. Everything looked great until about 2 weeks later when I noticed the finish had crazed badly. Looked like mud when it dries out and cracks. I clear coated the paint with pledge, so I'm thinking there was a reaction between the enamel and the acrylic clear. I removed the clear coat thinking it might have been the problem but the cracks are definitely in the enamel. Anyone ever have the same problem?
