  1. Okay folks, Nick started the Cannonball this year, but life has kept him from participating much. It happens to all of us. I spoke to him through FB and I'm going to finish up this years run for him, and run next years CBP. I am going to start a thread for completed builds in a minute. If you have finished your build, please post it up. Multiple builds are fine. As long as they were posted in this thread when you started them, per the rules on Page 1.
  2. Well guys, think we have our winner. Sleeper Cannonball sound good to everyone?
  3. So from this I think we can all agree on this. 1. If you post up pics, you need to be prepared for criticism. 2. If you are going to offer criticism, please do so tactfully, without degrading the builder or his work. 3. Constructive criticism, is the way to go. Offer an alternative that will yield better results. 4. If the poster still gets his panties in a wad. Oh well. Nuff said.
  4. I printed my own on white decal paper for the side decal. The hood decal came from an early Corvette diecast, but I warn you they are not great. For some reason they are very obvious beneath the clear, and a little thicker than your average water slide.
  5. The Falcon was the inspiration for this whole build. In hindsight I should have built a Ford Falcon, but oh well.
  6. Thanks for chiming in Mark. I was starting to think I was the only one who has seen this response from people. Great input folks.
  7. And challenging when you think about it. If it is of a car that people would normally associate as fast, it has to look so bad you'd not give it a second look. If it isn't normally a fast car, you have to make it so. This could be a lot of fun, and you would have to really get creative.
  8. Well it sure brought it too mind, but my online club members have been upset at this place for quite a while. And I have heard poor opinions of this forum from others at contests and shows in my area.
  9. I gotta disagree here. From experience I can tell you that there is nothing worse when posting your work, than to have no replies. It is quite depressing. In my opinion, if you have nothing nice to say, take a chance on a polite critique. At least then the builder doesn't feel ignored or beneath the notice of the better builders. That is what might be fostering this elitist reputation.
  10. This has popped up in two threads in the last two days that I'm involved in, and when I try to get my club members involved here, they wrinkle their nose and say things like "No, they are all elite/expert/pro/stuck up jerk builders who have ignored or bashed my work in the past". Or people seem to think that their work is not up to snuff for this forum. We've got a bad rep guys. Don't get me wrong we have a lot of fantastic builders here, but how has this reputation gotten so bad? I don't want to turn this into thread #1,462 on the subject of critique, but is it really that bad here? And how can we fix it? I'd really like to hear from some of the new guys on this. Or do we even care about the reputation?
  11. Sorry Christopher. The photos tell a different story. I think your skills are doing just fine. Keep it going. I want to see this beast come to life.
  12. Wow. Cesar, you never disappoint. I know those front wheel wells have been heavily modified to get those wheels that far in, but it sure doesn't look like it. Great work. Also we need to see more of you around here. I'd love to see one of your builds progress.
  13. Nico, that is very nice work. Great paint choices and very cleanly done. I think that would win awards at contests.
  14. Wow. I bet that was a LOT of work. Beautifully done.
  15. I gotta admit I like it too. So far Sleeperball sounds like the most fun.
  16. For what it's worth Tyler, I'm sorry this happened to you, and I do like the model. I hope you keep building what you like.
  17. Welcome Nico. Looking forward to seeing your work. I would not worry too much about your English, you are making yourself understood and that's all that matters.
  18. Wow. How tactful of you. I can assume then that every model you have ever built has been the very picture of mechanically correct, since the first time you picked up a tube of glue? We try to use constructive criticism around here Cliff. Please realize we have a lot of folks here of varied ages and skill levels here. Burning folks down like that, accomplishes nothing.
  19. I'm in the opposite camp. Everything about this screams barn find or classic 60's daily driver, so to me the modern and clean wheels/tires, throw me for a loop. Outstanding work though. Really nice detailing and weathering.
  20. Yep. What he said. Nice looking paint job.
  21. Hmmm.........................Fred, those are some very interesting ideers!
  22. That's the best Deora build I've ever seen. My hat is off to you sir, that is some outstanding work.
  23. Man, you always bring killer work. Nicely done.
  24. I'd say you have your work cut out for you, but it looks like a darn fine start. Hopefully someone did a formula resin hood, but I think those wheels are gonna be a real pain in the butt.
