Clay, That sould be very easy to fix with a little light wet sanding using a fine grit paper (600 or finer). Use a small piece of sandpaper and fix one small area at a time. Have you cleared the red yet? Later,

Call me myopic on this one, but with all of the modern Vette goodies you’ve already put in, (engine, drivetrain, suspension...), I’d go with the modern Vette wheels…but then there is the waterfall coming off of the back that drops down to the console... I think the truth is it really doesn't matter. Any way you go will look GREAT!! -
Tony, I'm glad that you're back. Did you get the email I sent you on the drag chute? Later,

Drag Chute How to in MCM
Raul_Perez replied to Raul_Perez's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes...me that is...what was a secret is a secret no more. -
Clay, Stop pulling my old builds out of the archives and get busy finishing that hauler!! That's an order, sergeant!! Later,

Clay, Check out the latest issue (Aug/Sep) of Model Cars Magazine. There's a picture of this bad boy in the article I sent Gregg about building drag chute packs. Thanks!! This one was a "one and only" build as a favor to a serviceman (Clay) for his support of our country. Regards,

Thanks guys!! One quick update...this one has escaped from my display case and is now in the possession of Rex "NNL West" Barden. Several years ago, Rex made me swear that I would will it to him when I die. Well, since Rex and I are about the same age, (and I’ve had the model for about 15 years), I went ahead and gave it to him earlier this year. This way he can actually enjoy it while he can still see it!! Later,

Sure there is...when you drive a really fast one, you'll say "yipee"!! So I guess that makes it two "e"s... Milt, It's good to see you building again!! When are we going to get together for another Milt's NNL? Later,

No need to apologize for this one!! Great concept!! Thanks for sharing,

Good advice, Kevin!! Yep, build at your own pace; be happy with each new skill that you acquire and be proud to display anything you've built here on this forum. Afterall, we all started out as newbies, just like you...AND...we continually need younger folks entering and staying with the hobby.

Gregg, I was a little surprised to see that my "how to" tip for building drag chutes showed up in the latest issue of MCM!! Had I known that you wanted to move forward with the draft pics and instructions I sent you, I would have sent better pics and instructions! Oh well, thanks for publishing it!! For anyone who's interested, here is the template with all of the dimensions for a chute that builds out to ~ 1/2" wide by 1/2" high by 1/4" thick: I like using the Tamiya masking tape best for transferring the template to and building the chute. If anybody wants the scalable template in a PowerPoint format, please feel free to send me a PM with your email address and I'll send it to you. Next time I'll make sure to send you good pics and instructions in the first message! Regards,

Glad to help... You'll really like how this stuff works with flat paint finishes. With the right combination of brushes, you can get really great shades and fades in the finish. Later, -
Looking good! Keep up the posts!!

Dave, The stuff I use is made by Bragdon Enterprises. They're special powders made for weathering models. I get it from the local train store. Here's the link: http://www.bragdonent.com/weather.htm Later, -
That is just too cool!! I would have included a few expletives in my response to enhance just how cool I really think it is, but Gregg has put out the "word" on using such language on the forum. How about: within the confines of this forum, there are no adequate expletives to describe just how cool it is to see this kind of craftsmanship and workmanship displayed in a public place..." Thanks for sharing,

Very nice, Lyle...very nice indeed!! That is truly beautiful work!! Later,

Raul_Perez replied to Raul_Perez's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
You're too funny!! Maybe you'll see it in person at the next NNL West!! Can't you convince Uncle Sam that you need to be on the left coast for a few days in early March?! Dave, I'm hoping that you'll have your '59 Roadster finished and on display at the NNL West in March!! If so we'll have to get a picture of the two of them sitting together!! Later, -
Correction, my young friend..."Raul needs to FINISH his!" My oldest son had my tripod and the younger one had the camera. Now that all of the equipment has been returned, I'll get some pics posted. Later,

Sounds GREAT!! On my '58 Impala that I painted Testors lacquer Mica Red (which is a beautiful red metallic color), I used the Testors Fabric Tan on the interior, but then I added darker tones to it with pastel weathering powders to give it some depth. Interior pics: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.p...=10216&st=0 Finished model: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10537 I can't wait to see this one finished!! Later, -

Dave, I'm glad that you liked it! I'm always a bit skeptical about adding pictures of my stuff to other people’s posts. Sometimes the post gets hijacked and moves off in some other direction when you do that… It's funny seeing the difference in approaches you and I took in integrating the Vette chassis...I used the chassis from two Z06 Vettes to get mine stretched to meet the wheelbase length of the original truck and you shortened the body on yours. I think that for the roadster look you're going for, shortening the body was absolutely the right approach. It looks awesome!! Mine was painted with Testors 2 part spray can lacquer (Italian Red and clear). What color interior are you going to use? I really like the Testors fabric tan with this shade of red, but I used gray to match the '50 Chevy pickup that I had done in a ZR-1 theme several years earlier. Keep up the GREAT work!! -

That is looking really cool!! All of the Vettes throughout the years have so many styling cues that can be used on many other cars and trucks. Here's the link to '57 Chevy pickup that I did last year in a Vette theme: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.p...mp;hl=z06+vette Here's a couple of pics... Keep up the GREAT work and thanks for sharing, -
Very nice salt flat racer, Jürgen!! It's going to look pretty cool with your hauler and trailer rig!! Thanks for sharing,

Swearing and cussing on the board
Raul_Perez replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well...no matter what any of us think about cussing in public, private or on a forum; at the end of the day this is Gregg's "sandbox" and he makes the rules. Period. I can easily live with and abide by them. Regards,
