  1. Yes, you can color sand the metallic paints to smooth out the surface, but you have to reapply a thin color coat to regain the correct appearance before you spray the clear. Otherwise you'll end up with what Bob described as a "belly of a trout" apperance. With the Testors lacquers, that's actually my preferred method. Once the base color coat is well established and color sanded, the subsequent coats seem to go on much smoother and shinier. Good luck,
  2. Another job well done, Michael!! Thanks for sharing,
  3. Congratulations to you and the family!!
  4. Very clean build, Bruce!! All of the detail work looks great!! I watched this one as you progressed "On the Bench". Thanks for sharing,
  5. Yeah...I used the 19" Chrome Ts in the front and the 23" Ts in the back of my 58 Impala. They look good together and help you get a cool rake. I also narrowed the front ones about 1/8" by removing the center section of the tire pattern and taking the same about off of the back side of the wheel. Thanks for sharing,
  6. I too use the Pactra pinstriping tape and clear over it. If you really want to spray it, which I've also done with good success, the best masking material I've found for a perfect line every time is BMF. Good luck,
  7. Those hinges look GREAT!!
  8. Bob, Glad to hear that you're doing better. Take care,
  9. Kevin, Kevin, Kevin... Like me, some of your work is built better than some of the other stuff posted on the forum and some of the other builds are better than ours. That's just the way it goes. This forum is all about learning from each other and collectively improving our skills. So, my young friend, GET OVER IT!! Pick your head back up, learn from the builders that inspire you, get back to the bench and BUILD!! Later,
  10. Great paint and detail work, Dave!! I can't wait to see this one finished!! Later,
  11. Another nice, clean build, Randy!! I'm glad to dee that you're back at it!! What's next?
  12. When I asked the Marine recruiter last week at the local art & wine festival if I could join, (and I'm a "bit" over 50), he said that he'd get me a waiver. I told him that after 24 years of marraige to my wife that they couldn't find anyone that's meaner than me!! No, she didn't see the humor in it...and he was smart enough not to comment. Hang in there, Clay...we've got your back. Later,
  13. I've been busy building the '53 Ford pickup and trailer for my Roth inspired "Raptor". The truck and the trailer have similar body features as the Raptor (pictured below): I've also been helping a friend finish his resin '35 Chevy 3w coupe by fitting the body panels and stretching an AMT '34 Ford 5w chassis to fit underneath it. Sorry, no pics at this time. I loaned my tripod to my son for his claymation project... Later,
  14. WAY TOO COOL ! ! ! You've got to post more pics of this one!! Thanks for sharing,
  15. KEVIN!!! You pimped-out a classic Rolls Royce!!! The purist will roll over in their graves when they see this!! Later,
  16. Brian, It looks like you're making good progress!! Later,
  17. Is that what those are for?! I've been using them to line the bottom of the bird cages.
  18. Yep...another nicely built Nova in the works... I may have to break down and buy one of them for my ever-growing collection of kits that I'll never live long enough to build.
  19. Kenny, That's going to make one cool looking grocery getter!! Thanks for sharing,
  20. Greg, The engine details look GREAT!! Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing!! Later,
  21. That sounds like a plan...
  22. Great job, Randy!! Based on the license plate, I expect to see a real "dog-faced" driver riding this one around town!! Later,
  23. I too will pass on the kiss...I'll also pass on being the leader of this country (because I'm ready for retirement). I hope that you put the stuff to good use,
  24. Now that's a rat!! The roof panel is awesome!! Is that a moonshine tank in the back?!
  25. Mark, It looks like you're off to a good start!!
