I need a little help with a '37 Chevy truck
Raul_Perez replied to Aaronw's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Aaron, Try www.carnut.com They've got a GREAT selection of pics of almost anything imaginable!! Later, -
Actually, my friend Bernard, (GBK1 on the forum), is who made me aware of what it was and what it was used for. I had sent him some miscellaneous parts for a model he was building, also thinking that the pump was a fire extinguisher. He replied, stating how happy he was that I sent him the air pump, but I had no idea what he was talking about. Once he described it to me over the phone, I knew what part he was referring to. I've since found about ten more of them in my parts box. As I recall, they're in the AMT '29 Ford Roadster kit and the AMT '37 Chevy kits. The really funny thing is that the instructions on several of the AMT kits also call it a fire extinguisher! If you look on eBay, you'll sometimes find examples of dash and tank mounted Eelco brand air pumps for the old fuel tanks. Later,

Thanks, Bill!! That makes sense. I built the Daytonas before I built the Dinos, explaining why I had those beautiful wire wheels for the GTS that I converted to a roadster. Later,

Yep!! Truly one of the GREATEST band of musicians EVER!! -
I built four of the full detail kits back when they sold for about $15 each...Yes, that was back when Methuselah was a young boy... They are extremely well detailed and go together pretty well. I highly recommend the kit to any vintage Ferrari fan. If I remember correctly, there's even an optional set of chromed wire wheels in the box...but I may be mistaken, they may have come with the Daytona...I remember building one of them with wire wheels... Here you go George!! Here's one for you...(yes, this is one of my favorites, too)... First Man: I think, I think I am, therefore I am, I think. The Establishment: Of course you are my bright little star, I've miles And miles Of files Pretty files of your forefather's fruit and now to suit our great computer, You're magnetic ink. First Man: I'm more than that, I know I am, at least, I think I must be. Inner Man: There you go man, keep as cool as you can. Face piles And piles of trials with smiles. It riles them to believe that you perceive the web they weave. And keep on thinking free. -
Add a little fire to that Smoothster kit on the shelf

John, Thanks for the offer, but I'd be more interested in a tutorial on how it's done. Later, -
Too cool, Randy!! I saw a '74 Dino (red with tan leather) at the GoodGuys in Pleasanton yesterday. What a beauty!! I told the two guys that were polishing it to hurry up because I needed the car for a lunch date! Later,

Excellent final result, John!! Every element of this builts works well together!! None of it is overstated, just good, clean styling and workmanship!! Thanks for sharing!! Later.

Mark, I'll send you a PM with my home address. I've already made room for this little jewel in my display case!! The details are looking GREAT!! Don't forget to add the Moon air pump to pressurize the fuel tank on that old gasser!!! A lot of the old AMT kits have them included on the chrome tree...they look like a fire extinguisher, but they have a "T" handle on the top. My friend Bernard clued me into this little tip on old gasers a few months back. Later,

GREAT JOB, Nathan!! What's next?! Later,

Very nice build!! It's really too bad that some of Nissan's and Toyota's best 1:1 hotrods don't get exported to the USA. How about some chassis and engine pics!! Later,

GREAT!! Glad to hear that he's inspired to build more!! We can't wait to see what he finished next!! Later,

Oh yeah, Bernard, this is the "money shot" for this build!! You're 1,000% right about the proportions!! The slight sectioning without a chop, but a slight pie cut to the rear section of the roof is spot on!! I also like the way you removed the running boards without making it look like something's missing!! Keep up the GREAT work!! Later,

To Rebuild or Not
Raul_Perez replied to James W's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
James, I've got a couple of models that I built many years ago that I've also thought of redoing, but when I really think about it, I leave them as they are. They are just what I wanted when they were built and are a reflection of my skills at the time. That's something that you really can't replicate. So, I say leave it as is. Later, -
I'll second that!! I too get accused of building too many red models! Keep up the GREAT work!! Later,

Nice builds, Brendan!! Keep up the GREAT work!! Later,

Very nice work, Lyle!! All of the details look very well proportioned and placed. Yes, I'm surprised to see you build someting this "current"! Keep up the GREAT work!! Later,

Clay, I've fixed similar problems with the tires on the 1:8 scale 32 Ford by stuffing them with tissue. The tissue helped them keep their shape, which in turn helped them stay on the rims. Later,

Now it makes sense why I got an email from Nick F40 saying that his father was injured in a bike accident, but the note didn't say who his father was. The note read like Nick F40 had been injured and his son was letting people know that his father, Nick F40 had been injured. Later,
