  1. How long does it usually take to ship the stuff to South Dakota or any other northern Midwestern state?
  2. That is a very interesting system. I can see ways where it would be a pain, it appears to be slightly more complicated. I actually should go look at the brakes on that truck again, they appeared to look like what was in the kit
  3. What is the difference between cam brakes and wedge brakes?
  4. The information you post is not confusing me at all, I actually really like reading your information. I really appreciate your contribution to this forum with all of your great answers.
  5. I actually have a new plan for my interior. It will still be the burgundy brougham color, but I am going to use real leather for the tunnel, curtain, and door panels. I'm going to use a couple leatherworking techniques I know to make the diamond pattern design the truck has. I never did find a good picture of the interior, but did the ceiling have the diamond pattern too?
  6. What was this blue knob for that sits next to the truck and trailer brake of all these older trucks?
  7. That's the only part of this kit that I didn't like. It would have been really cool to have a true two-in-one kit
  8. I see what you mean. The box art has the proper position for the headlights, while the kit itself has the headlights way to high up. I am experiencing this with my own build on this kit. It would have been nice to have that issue fixed..
  9. Just checked it out now, placed an order for some photoetch detailing for this kit. Stuff looks awesome, I always hated the kit grille, plastic is too thick for my liking.
  10. Have you heard from Moluminum recently? It kinda seems like he hasn't been here for a while
  11. He does have a website, and it appears that he has been active as he just posted a "2017 in review" photo album. As for the instructions, I may not be looking hard enough but I cannot find them
  12. Do you guys know where i can get some rims that look like this? This is the style of rim in the rear. The front of the rim is shown because from behind it looks like a typical 5 handhole rim.
  13. As of right now, the only complete part of the truck I have is the engine (Belts and fan is all painted, I just haven't added it to the engine yet). My choice for the engine is a Detroit Diesel 8v71T. The engine is a resin cast from Auslowe Truck Accessories, pained in Alpine Green Duplicolor engine enamel. It is paired to a Fuller transmission, also from Auslowe.
  14. Indeed it has! I am actually pretty excited about how much information is here, I hope it not only helps me but others too.
  15. That is true, they always make more. What's strange is how much of a Freightliner fanatic I am. Had it been a Peterbilt or Kenworth I probably wouldn't have hesitated to tear that box open. I've just always had sentimental value for the old Freightshakers. And I do agree, that was a very nice Kawasaki, I think he only wanted a grand and a half for it.
  16. It did feel wierd tearing off the plastic cover and opening the box to this kit. I think it feels like an act of blasphemy to me because it's a special edition. Other than that, I am excited to dig into this project.
  17. It's about like pulling a ghost out of the closet. I bought this kit when it was first introduced. This is a really cool kit, as you have an option for a dual drive sleeper or daycab and a single drive daycab. Comes with some really nice decals as well.
  18. The reference truck does not have the Luberfiner. I have been making a few trips over to the truck to confirm the details, and so far everything had been spot on. As for the Luberfiner on the kit, I'll probably just file off the mold where it mounts on the frame in the kit. If someone were to instal the Luberfiner, would the oil lines just lead from where they would have originally been if it was a screw on filter? Or was it an entirely different location?
  19. That is a great list of materials that I'll look for. I'm in town today so I'll check out Hobby Lobby. As for the external oil filter, are you referring to the Luberfiner?
  20. I will deffinatly be sure to pay attention to that detail when it comes around that part of the build. I also plan to do some "plumbing" and I was wondering what you guys suggest for air lines, electrical lines, and hydraulic lines?
  21. Here is a nice comparison for the headlights. Real truck vs the model. There is a noticeable height difference.
  22. You seem to be right, I'm looking at my reference truck pictures and it does appear to be higher than they should be. As far as the thread goes, I am actually very impressed with all the small details that have been covered here. I didn't find any thread that was very detailed on the Freightliner trucks. I also just purchased a brochure of the 1971 Freightliner cabovers. I will post the pictures on here for more information. I not only wanted my questions answered, I wanted to have a nicely detailed thread about Freightliners for anyone who needs it. I am really enjoying the learning process before I get very serious on my build, it will help a lot in the final product.
  23. Didn't the Freightliner cabs tilt out to a 90 degree angle? And how would you lower the cabs after you were done with any servicing you needed to do?
  24. That is true. I can't say much because I was born into the age of digital technology, but I do agree that older pictures don't have the best color quality.
  25. Oh, I see it now. Towards the right is where you would insert a jack handle. How good are these pumps at lifting the cab? Is it a pretty slow or quick process?
