  1. First polishing session done on the body. I decided not to clearcoat this one and have a go at the black paint with the polishing compounds as I know black can be a real pain in 1:1 cars. I used zero paints, coarse, medium and fine, similar to Tamiyas. Not an easy body to work on and I was extra careful with those A pillars Tom, they are fragile. Rest of the body parts are drying so hopefully tomorrow I can polish them. Unfortunately due to the temperature I am having to spray in the garage and I have already noticed some dust getting into the wet paint, roll on spring for spraying outdoors.
  2. Builders privilege, you get to choose the colours you think Ford should have produced it in. Looking good so far, I like these cars so looking forward to following this.
  3. Thanks guys, some really good stuff on there, I am going to get a few truck builds under my belt before attempting anything like this.
  4. Really nice, colours work really well, amazing detail.
  5. I have this kit and now thanks to your great build Ken some reference pictures for when I get round to starting it.
  6. Wow, amazing build and weathering effects.
  7. Jan, my favourite bourbon on a truck, that is an inspirational build. How do you get your own decals to work, every time I try they fall to pieces.
  8. Fantastic paint schemes, really like those builds. Might inspire me to do some more.

    MG - TC

Nice build, has anyone built the MGB kit from Aoshima, the one with the rubber bumpers, I wondered what it looked like built.
  10. Great build Mike, serious detail on the underside. Couple of these still running around in my town having been recently restored, very quick cars for their day.
  11. Very nice, I see these cars on the road quite often in England and always liked the styling. Nice that you detailed it for your friend as well I am sure he will appreciate that.
  12. Like the colour choice, looking forward to seeing this build.
  13. Looking forward to seeing this build, cool car and I like the colour choice.
  14. Dave, did you do a topic of your build that I can look at?
  15. Thanks for the updates guys. Ben I looked at the build so far, not an easy project, how are you getting on with it now?
  16. Gutting but it gives you another opportunity to make it look great. Jeroen, last time I found problems in the paint I laid it on too thick. Took hours to sand back and prime again, I tend not to strip the paint.
  17. Nice build, this is the first one of this kit I have seen, looking forward to seeing the next stages.
  18. Excellent model and weathering job, really nice.
  19. Thanks guys, I enjoyed building it, definitely will be attempting some more off roaders in the future. Might have a go at the Toyota Landcruiser or if I can find it a model of a 90s Nissan Patrol, always wanted one of those two but never had enough cash and the roads and weather don't really justify one in England, narrow roads lot of rain but not much snow unlike on the continents.
  20. Kerry, Dave thanks for the replies it is appreciated. Dave you are right that kit is not cheap but looking at your build it turns out really well. Do you find the resin kits tend to be a bit more fragile or robust? I have never used it but am keen to give it a go at some point when I can siphon off enough cash without Missus S noticing.
  21. Bit more completed today, chassis built up and interior starting to come together. Not had time to do any more coats for the body will try and lay some paint early next week.
  22. 217 bhp Petrol of course Kemszi! Luckily I don't do a lot of miles so I can forget the mpg. Passat is a really nice car and bigger I also don't like the facelift on the new VRS. Guys thanks for the welcome, I am steadily picking up tips and trying out new ideas as I go along. Really enjoying keeping up with the builds people are posting.
  23. Could not resist an attempt at a big US truck, albeit in a small scale. Bit of a fiddly kit as it was a snap fit one and I found myself snapping a few parts, including the front left wheel which now sits too far in but it was a first tryout. I have another 1/24 Peterbilt, and a 1/16 for a rainy day. The 1/16 is a mega sized kit and I want to hone my skills before trying to do that one justice. Found the decals a challenge, getting them to be symmetrical but it worked out okay in the end. I am really interested in building a Convoy themed Mack or Mad max one, has anyone built those on the forum and have some advice/photos. The Peterbilt from Duel would be an interesting one as well. I think you could actually buy a Convoy themed kit at one time, I seem to remember seeing one on ebay a while ago for a princely sum.
  24. First pickup build, Revell Datsun kit that had heat damage with a warped roof. Rather than thrown it away I decided to build and practice with large decals as I haven't tried fitting them before. Box cover showed a white truck with chrome but I decided to try a metallic mint green and go with black bull bars and detailing.
  25. Tried to get a bit more done this morning but pushed for time. Laid down first coats of Halfords acrylic gloss black, few more coats required but temp dropping rapidly here. Mounted the engine in the chassis, hopefully I will get the chance to build the chassis up tomorrow.
