  1. The bedford "Blitz" made until 1987 had nothing to do with the 2nd WW Opel Blitz, the Bedford Blitz was the Export name of the Bedford CF available in England It was AWD who bought Bedford from GM in 1986, but they went bankrupt in 1992
  2. Now that's what i call art ! Very nice Geoff
  3. Don't know about any U.S trucks sharing the Blitz cab, but after the 2nd world war, they were made in England under the Bedford name.
  4. Just got it out of the Spray booth, photo's show it slightly lighter than it really is as i had to use flash.
  5. Started this today, after building a few of Tamiya's Mini Coopers, thought i needed a change from the Coopers. The Beetle kit is different to the Mini Cooper kits, i was a bit supprised by the amount of mold lines in this kit, there's two on the bodyshell that runs all the way from the front to the rear, right across the roof as well on both sides. The parts go together pretty much like any Tamiya kit i have built, no flash on the parts but there are a few injector pin marks to be filled or removed. After the mold lines were removed the body panels were given a few coats of grey plastic primer, left to dry overnight, then given a few coats of white primer, i tried a new primer (To me anyway), made by tetroseal, forget it, it's ######, even after shaking the can it still came out very thin, with very little pigment in it, it took longer to dry out, so it was back to the Hycote i have been using for years with no problems, i will now leave it a few days to dry out, while carrying on with the engine and other parts. Hopefully when it's finished it should look like this, i've had the Sea Blue paint mixed up in cellulose
  6. Got to be a model ....
  7. Both the Tamiya Mini Cooper's I've been working on have now been finished, they are both in the same case,

  11. Yes there was a red Lotus Europa in the "Avengers", it belonged to Tara King, who replaced Emma Peel, who did drive the Blue Lotus Elan.

  14. Nice truck, love those flames,
  15. If you can't find it listed as caustic soda, look out for Sodium Hydroxide, that's the chemical name for it. I had some parts that were painted with Tamiya Acrylic, on a model i bought part built, i tried the alcohol solution, there were soaked in there for about a week, it did soften the paint, but it was hard work, and would have took ages to scrub off. I took the parts out of the alcohol, rinced with water, and put them into the caustic solution, 30 minutes and they were back to the plastic.
  16. Caustic soda Mixed with cold water, i have found it to strip any paint, and is totally safe on plastic, never tried it on resin though Hope this helps,
  17. I've tried a few different methods, and the one i'm using at the moment with good sucess is to use Revell silk matt black, I've tried Tamiya and i find the revell better, if not easier to clean up. I usually put a few drops of the paint into a foil dish, add a drop of thinners, and then using a flat head brush, load up the paint and paint as near to the line as you can, don't worry if you go over the edge. Then get yourself a bamboo kebab stick, usually sold in supermarkets for barbacue's ect, soak the end in thinners, and then wipe round the line of the window frame, the bamboo will soak up the excess paint, you may have to do it a few times, wiping off the paint as you go, but it does give you a neat edge. If you've painted the body in enamel, you may want to use water based paint for this and use water and not the thinners on the bamboo stick. Works for me anyway .....
  18. Well today i finally finished the Austin Mini Cooper that i have had on the bench for the last few years, i started it, then it went on the backburner when other things needed to be done, now i have a bit more time on my hands, i have more time for modelling Front end finished, bonnet badge was put on first, this is supplied as a self adhesive chrome badge, the waterslide decal is then applied over it Side view, showing BMF used for the wheel arch trim and windown trim, the roadwheel were also drilled out instead of painting the indents black as shown on the instructions The boot badge is also supplied as a self adhesive foil emblem, just the the 1:1 car, the badge is not centred, it is off to the right very slightly, the break between the words Austin & Cooper line up the boot handle The body was sprayed with cellulose BMC Tartan red and given a black roof, interior was painted using Tamiya acrylics spreayed using an airbrush

  20. I've been using Isopropyl Alcohol for some time now, and still get great results, Tamiya's X-20A is around £2.00 for 46mls, 500mls of the Alcohol will cost me £5.00 with the shipping.

  25. I Love beetles, so i can't wait to see how this one turns out, i have the convertible kit, which has been in the loft for a few years, i keep having a look at it, but there's more flash that parts, you got to have patience to get this kit to look good, but the body's already looking good. Geoff
