Getting closer to getting this one done, I need to get it finished soon, as I need to re-model the hobby room, as it now has to function as my office as well, so will be split in two separate sides, this will be the last model to be built for a while. I've got the chassis pretty much finished, with the engine built up and installed, I'm still waiting for the pre wired distributor to arrive, but that can still be installed, as the distributor fits at the back of the engine, the discs have been stripped of their chrome and airbrushed in steel, after the calipers have been picked out in a different colour, they can be fitted, then the wheels can be fitted, Rear axle done using a Liquid chrome pen over gloss black Engine finished and installed into the chassis

No problem, I've visited Turkey a few times now, and need to get back, I've only done the south, and need to get further up north, as there's quite a few places I need to photograph, the last time I was there was 2013, a very beautiful country, last time I was there I started to learn the language a little, it certainly makes you a little more welcome than most of the English thinking that everyone in the world speaks and understand the English language, and thinks that everywhere serves British food and beer, I always get off the beaten track and try the local food and drink, I fell in love with the Turkish food. Here's one of my favorite photo's I took a few years ago, and yes, I did have to stand in the middle of the river to get the shot, luckily at the time of year the levels were slightly lower than they had been

yes, it's OOB, I just airbrushed it, and picked out the chrome parts with a liquid chrome pen.

Interior finished

The bodyshell has been put aside while I start work on the chassis, engine and interior, I was toying with doing a two tone interior, but in the end decided to go with a simple once colour interior instead, and just picked parts out in chrome, all the chrome was done using the Molotow liquid chrome pens, on the smaller parts it was dispensed onto a small piece of cardboard and applied with the tip of a wooden cocktail stick, the chassis after thinking about the colour, as I didn't want to paint it black was airbrushed in body colour,

Even @ 60, I can't see myself sitting back and doing nothing, but the extra income from my private pension means I can knock the long haul trips on the head, the next one I've got 3 flights to get there and will be in the air to close on 20 hours, I'm looking forward to getting there, but not the jet lag on the return flights, and I've another 17 hour flight to do in August, these are the things I look forward to not having to do anymore.

Superb build, I built the 356 Carrera earlier, not the easiest kit to build and to get right, but you pulled it off !
-
Superb little Fiat, and very well built ....

Got the one side finished off last night before I retired for the night, just the bonnet and the other side to do, and that's the polishing finished, then I can start on building the rest of the model.

Very nice build .... -
I'm not sure just what this clearcoat I got from my local bodyshop is, but it dried pretty much straight away, it's the same stuff I used on the 57 Chrysler, and as I'm going to be a little busy over the weekend, I thought I would get a little work done on it today, it really didn't need wet sanding, there was one tiny dust nib in the drivers door that needed sorting, and then I started on the polishing, using the different compounds I usually do, so far I've got the roof, bootlid, drivers door and front wing done.
-
Congratulations, I've got another 6 years until I get my private pension, luckily my work really doesn't feel like work, thankfully I still enjoy it after all these years

Got the clearcoat done this morning, it will now be left until next week, then it will be wet sanded and polished to get a deep wet shine

A work of art , absolutely stunning .... -
those tabs are now history Shay, the paint is old school cellulose lacquer, I really doesn't need a clearcoat, as it could be polished as it is, but as it's a hotrod, I want the paint to have a real wet look gloss, the colour was used on late Hillman imps, Avengers and Hunters.
-
Sanded out the dust nibs, had to blow it over, as the paint went down to the primer on the edge of the rear wing, pretty happy this time, not a dust nib in sight
-
Got it airbrushed in Chrysler Neptune blue lacquer, much better luck this time, just a few dust nibs to remove before it gets a few coats of acrylic clear coat
-
Well the blue flake finger nail polish didn't go to plan, tried it out on the spoon test first, it barely made it through the #5 tip on the Paasche H, however I did find some gold flake finger nail polish, that went well on the spoon test, but didn't cover over the primer on the body, looks like it needs to be put over a gold base first, so the body sat in the stripper for a few days, and today got it back in primer, think I'm going to give the finger nail polish a miss until I've practiced a little more, so after looking through my paint stock, I've decided to do it in Chrysler Neptune blue metallic, a colour from the late 70's.
-
And now for something completely different, I've never built a hotrod before, so here goes, and another thing I've never tried is finger nail polish, so this one, if I get it right, will be done in a very nice shade of blue metal flake .... Removed a few very faint mold lines and re-scribed the panel lines, got the seats built up and started on the engine.

Got this one finished off this morning, airbrushed in Citroen Bamboo green, with the wheels and bumpers painted in Citroen Rose grey
-
Hopefully this one will be finished in the morning, as I only have the rear lamps to fit and the front mudflaps, and it's done .... The front side windows had there frame done using aluminium bmf, while all the others were done in VHT flat black, it's the best flat black I've found that looks more like the black rubber than anything else I've used, they were fixed into place with clear acrylic craft glue.
