There was so much cutting & custom work in this model. By far the most complicated build & detail job I’ve ever done.
-
The wheels are Borrani wire wheels I ordered from Japan. Took almost 4 weeks to get here. Excuse the cut in the bell house. Need to make things fit lol. I’ve since put a small cap on the distributor. I grafted in Corvette inner fender aprons & firewall.

I’ve always had a thing for them since the early 80s. Always reminded me of early Corvettes and coincidentally that’s what the Miami Vice Daytona was build from, a 76 & 81 corvettes!

Thank you!

No Photobucket photos either. Marvelous.

For some reason it won’t let up upload the interior & engine bay shots. Maybe they are too big? The interior is where the real work went into effect!

I used 2 model kits to build this one to near exact specs as the car used on the show commonly referred to as the Camera Daytona. I used the original MV kit & a 1978 Corvette kit to build this. I’ve flared the fenders, bought Borrani wire wheels (I didn’t like the ones w/ the MV kit), custom built the dash exactly how it should be The MV Daytona has the complete wrong interior as it’s a regular Ferrari interior & not the mix of Corvette/Daytona interior it should be. I grafted in the Vette center console, engine bay inner fender aprons, firewall, engine etc. Took almost 2 months of custom work & countless hours. Hope you all enjoy it as this is as close as it can get! I also cut of the headlights so it has the correct bucket headlights. I was in contact w/ the guy who owns the real MV Mcburnie Daytona and he sent me detailed photos of his car used in the show!

Looking good! I want to do this kit in white as it really shows the details of the SVO w/ it’s black accents. Interior is on point! Very nice!
-
Very cool! Keep us posted!

Any completed photos yet? I’m nearly done my Miami Vice McBurnie Daytona build. Thank goodness too because a lot of work went into making it look exactly like the the original Vice car known as the Camera Daytona (car #4 built by McBurnie).

Very cool! This model kit is in a hobby store down the road from me as well as the Christine 58’ Plymouth Fury.
-
Very nice build! I’m almost done this same kit but... I built it exactly the way you see it on the MV show which is a McBurnie Daytona. Fender flares, Corvette interior, Borrani wire wheels, cut out headlights so they have the correct bucket look. Be on the lookout for this build here & Under the Glass. Again, nice clean work!

Thank you!

Only small thing I had an issue w/ was one the body was over the chassis & situated, the front bottom of the chassis wouldn’t stay up to the body. A little glue fixed that. Sorry to hear you had issues. The fitting of the small glass rear window was a bit tricky to but no big deal.

Very nice work on this Daytona! A lot more to it than the Miami Vice Daytona!
