Machined Aluminum Specialties (MAS) carry them under their resin heading. I bought 4 of them and the detail is great just no decals so I printed up my own. You have to go to the contact page to see the ordering options. He just took over the company and the web site is just for reference right now. MAS.com

Hi Dryvr12 Micro Mark carries just what you need it's called patina it and rust it it works good on aluminum. I never seen aluminum rust it just corrodes away. It bubbles up and forms a white power (like calcium deposits) on it and it gets pit holes in it until it's all gone. I worked in an aluminum extruding shop and watched this stuff wither away in piles. that is why you get more for it when you scrap it. It can be smelted down with a 90% return on product. If I was you I would paint sections of it with red oxide paint then cover it with a light coat of rubber cement and Paint it aluminum. It will come out dull but that is what you want. Then just use your finger and roll up a bit of the rubber cement to show the primer under it you can grind holes and ruff it up before putting on the cement and painting it. when it's dry dust it with a light coat of light earth and a coat of dust. you can practice on a pencil or straws until you get it right. Have fun Ernie

IS IT ME? or are people crazy
oldman23 replied to oldman23's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't think the body is horrible I think it could have been polished out a little more but then I was comparing the price of what it is to show quality cars cars I have seen on this forum. I do know that I went to buy my grandkids a small HO slot car track but I decided I didn't want to mortgage my house for it. So I can understand why slot car owners are willing to pay such hi prices. Not only that but I didn't figure in the cost of the gentleman's time that painted it. Labor has gone up. I think maybe I shouldn't have been so negative about the car and the price. Like I said all of have really opened my eyes to things. Thank You Ernie -

Hi I was bumming around Ebay looking for a deal When I ran across this. Jungle Jim's Tribute car. 1/25th scale plastic model body of a 66 Nova It's painted Blue, it's Decaled and BMFed. I'm far from an expert painter and detailer and I consider this car to be a 10. 10 footer that is. When you look at the close ups you can see the panel lines are garbaged up with paint and the body wasn't finished real good before paint. The owner says the wheels and tires do not go with the sale. He never really mentions this is not a complete kit, He lists everything done to it line by line and in one line He states "This is a plastic body with a resin outlaw hood" then continues on with the list. He does say in bold " Here's Jungle Jim's 66' Nova Tribute Car" I looked at the pictures and it's only a body. I emailed the seller to verify this and he said yes he's selling just the body. As of this time their is 5 hours left and bidding is up to $106.50 Does anyone else think this is a good deal? I don't I think if the seller can live with himself ......Well? Here check it out youself. Jungle Jim's Tribute car Reason for edit....I ran some lines together

I normally use white glue for lens and windshields but I read an article on Jewelers watch crystal cement. I purchased 2 tubes from Micro-Mark in order to give it a try. It came under the name G-S Hypo Cement. My Question is what consistency is this glue supposed be? I thought it was like super glue gel is but maybe I'm wrong. Have any of you used this Glue? My tubes come out like testers model cement only a little thicker and real stringy. I was wondering if this is right or do I have some Old Bad glue? Please let me know if you can help me no one at micro-Mark could tell me whats up with it. Thank you in advance for your help. reason for edit....I forgot to spell check again!

Just brush on a light coat of watered down white glue and attach them in place. or you can brush on a little future floor wax wait a couple minutes for it to tack up and apply your part. Have fun reason for edit: How Embarrassing....poor spelling

Hi Everyone, Some of you already use this Tip but for those who Don't......Read on Get some round toothpicks and a small jar of rubber cement, and also something to stand the toothpicks in (I use Play-doe because it's non toxic and contains no oils.) Model clay is OK too. Dip the point and taper of the toothpick into the rubber cement and roll it between your fingers until you have a nice teardrop formed on the end. Stand it upright in something and let it dry a few hours. Then all you have to do is touch it to the small part and it will stay their until you glue it in place or paint it. I make up about a dozen at a time and use them for all kinds of stuff. The rubber cement stays tacky even when dry. Give it a try it will save you allot of frustration

'61 Falcon Sedan Delivery
oldman23 replied to Bruce Poage's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Hi the 61 falcon hardtop and convertible kits are still available from Model round up and also Model Express As far as the conversion kit from R&D Unique I purchased the sedan delivery from them and I still haven't built it. The interior tub is wrong and the casting has so much flash and mold lines that I'm scared to start a life long relationship with it. Jimmy Flintstone is the way to go -
Thank You Sir I appreciate the information. On another note I really enjoyed the artical you did in the magazine Thanx

Hi Everybody, I have been working on a 62 Chevy Impala SS Hard top and the original windshield glass from the convertible kit is so thick it would be 1 3/4 inches thick in 1:1 scale . I purchased a resin hardtop body with New vacuum formed glass and interior door panels. Well the first set of glass had an oval indented in the center of it like it was to hot or in the vacuum too long. I purchased a second set of vacuum formed glass because it would have cost more to send it back for an exchange. It too is so distorted with orange peel that it won't buff out. My question is What thickness styrene would be best to use to make my own and would it be realistic? Also when I purchased the body the one A pillar is twisted and bent outward. Is their any way to straighten this without having to cut a piece from the convertible body I kit bashed? I purposely did not mention who I purchased this from but they have been around a long time. This is the worse resin conversion kit I ever have purchased. The body side trim and chrome detail areas are so distorted and squiggly I don't know if I can save them without having to sand all of it off and trying to replace it. The glass is bad and the interior door panels are over sized and the pattern is distorted and not uniform. I called them and they acted like it was my fault because I bought it. Thank You for all your help Oldman23
