  1. MojaveRacer208, check your PM. It is a forum based site and yes everything VW. Sand rails, Fiberglass cars, Baja's and more. Oh heck www.thesamba.com. As for a copy of that body, I only have one large scale car so wouldn't have anything to add to it :-(
  2. One picture? That my friend is called teasing. Looks period correct to me. Love these oldies. Just raw horsepower eaten up the track. Well done... I do want to see more!
  3. If you can find some Tamiya masking tape, grab it. The stuff is awesome and you get a very clean mask line. That red is gorgeous. Is this that new line of paint that we don't get up here in Canada Model Master Lacquer in the can.
  4. JAKE!!! Hey how have you been? Haven't seen you in ages. These I believe are your bead locks I am using are they not?
  5. Thanks guys, I'll keep at it. Wow Andy... I purchased my first resin body from you, the Ornery Otto. Haven't completed it yet but did start it. Guess I'll have to get back at that one as well.
  6. LOL Sorry to leave you hanging. Will do, and thanks. We now return you to your regularly scheduled Work in progress
  7. Words to live by :-) Fantastic work so far. I just about fell off my chair seeing it all cut up in the recent update. All that work to be chopped up. Bigger and better things planed I see. COOOOL
  8. Hey, there is a familiar car. How's it going Mike. She's coming along great.
  9. I found some tires at Modelhaus that suit this truck much better so will be using them. The are lower and wider. I was having a hard time finding rims wide enough . I went back to the parts box as grabbed two Nascar rims and sanded the backs down. A perfect fit. Added a bead lock rind and disk brake. Looks to fit the bill. I've added a cab roll cage.... might add more to it yet and some rear frame bars. I need to get the cab tied into the rear suspension some how but can't. I'm having a tough time figuring out a way to do it where I can take it all apart for painting. Here is where I am at now. So far the suspension is functional and the front tires steer as well.
  10. This will be my first OTW here so be gentle . It is a project I started about two years ago but, well didn't really loose interest just had scratch builders block so I set it aside LOL. Please excuse the first pictures quality as that was an old camera. It might not be 100% accurate, but who cares. I love the freedom model building gives us. I started using the frame from the 1984 GMC kit but later decided to get rid of it , things just weren't going the way I wanted it to. The major reason for scraping the original frame was ground clearance. I had WAY to much. These trucks seem to squat quite low and the axle needed to pass the frame. I'm still using the interior but wish I would not have now. Too late, to many things are designed around it. The truck will be using a fair amount of parts from Nascar kits. Seats, engine , fuel cell so far. Shocks were made with various tubes of aluminum and brass.... Some pictures of the rear suspension in the up and down position. Everything is just pinned together for now. The challenge with this build is I want to make things permanent but can't as it will all need to be disassembled and painted first. Sooner or later I'm going to have to give in and get the airbrush out.
  11. Thanks for the welcome Jody. Dave and I meet on a dune buggy website (We both have fiberglass cars). I posted there asking if anyone built scale models and he replied with a bunch of his cool subjects. That is when he told me about this place. Body work............... A love hate relationship. It has to be done but you fight with every pain staking second of it. But after you reep the rewards. A rear spoiler might look cool. I guess it all depends on if you want a replica of the car shown or will be loosely basing it on. Either way it's a cool subject. I've done one funny VW Car and one is in progress I love these little cars.
  12. Hi all. New guy here. VwDave let me know about this site. Definitely LOTS going on here. I'm loving all the cool, super clean builds on this site. Well done. I'll build pretty much anything. On road, off road, stock, muscle cars.... haven't done a tuner yet however Hmmm. I love the VW's and have done a few of them. I'm currently building a Baja race truck with functional suspension. It's proving to be quit the challenge. I just completed this trio last week. I love the Pro Street, Pro Stock type look. The truck is pretty much box stock. Lowered and added the hood scoop. The tire set is from a die cast toy (It's about the only place I can find the "big and littles". The trailer I left the top off. It's Amt's display case trailer and I built the tire rack for it. The Car is out of three kits. Body is form the Shelby Mustang 2'n1 Kit, a Thunder Bird Pro Stock kit for the engine and the 57 Chevy Pro Sportsman kit for the Chassis and to think at one time I had issues parting a kit out I left the body to the basics, no bumpers and covered in the front of the car (under the grill) to smooth it out a bit. I love "in your face" exhaust systems so scratch build headers from soldier and the collectors from styrene and shrink tub to get the clean merge look then dumped it out the side of the car. Hope you like..... hope everything loads fine...
  13. Cool concept. Just had to post when I found this build! (I love VDubs) Hi VW Dave, thanks for letting me know about this forum. Figured out who I am yet?
