  1. Love it already, cant wait to see more.
  2. I haven't been building seriously for a long while. I'll sneak one in here and there but nothing like I once was.Thank you for the comments guys! They are keeping me motivated and keeping me going on this. Dino that Pro Street looks great!! I absolutely LOVE the Pro Street scene. A bit of an update... Hit the frame with some paint. This color will not be the body color.... Got some other parts painted as well. And some frame assembly. Then back to the interior tub. Made a new firewall dog house and cleaned up the rest of it. I may have to clean up a bit more once I hit it with primer. I'm now working on a roll bar for the interior and a front air dam. I don't really like the front bumper on it so seeing if I can come up with something else. I rolled the back of the body so wont be using a rear bumper either. I'll keep at it.......
  3. Frame was easy but now things are getting interesting. The ride height was close but front has to be dropped. I was going to alter the frame but the more I did that the higher the motor would be.I figured no problem as I have a pile of room until I figured out the motor is so set back that it is going into the fire wall. So I looked at the interior tub and since the side walls are pretty much vertical I thought I could get away with taking some out of it to drop the body on the frame. Once that was done I had a gap on the sides. I thinned the door panel (so it would not look so wide) and added a filler strip. Next I made room for the engine. Then I sat and pondered how I was gong to deal with this mess.. The transmission hump was massively oversized since a big 4X4 transmission wasn't going to be used. I thought about trimming around it and re making the floor.... Then into the box of goodies to see if I could find another option. I long time ago I bought a bunch of Nascar kits. about 10 or them. All the kits were missing bodies. I think the guy was using them for slot cars or something. Anyways the width was a perfect fit and would really clean up the underside of the truck. I cut the floor completely out. Not sure if i have any less of a mess to deal with LOL. Sneak peek of ride height as of this moment....
  4. Got the rear tubs done. Tackled the frame length next.
  5. Thx for the replies guys. I'll try not to disappoint. Kruleworld, Its the AMT Ertl Kit
  6. Yep, you rocked this build!! Nice job!
  7. The frame was trimmed off and the wheel tubs. Want the open look like the C10R Next needed to make room for the rear wheels. Looking for a frame I had built a 39 Wagon Rod and had bought a started kit for 5 bucks. Wasn't really interested in building the kit again so took a good look at it to see if it would be a good donor. It has been very handy to have a completed build to look at. The decision was easy. It had the motor I was looking for, a nice frame and had a great lowerd stance. The frame was much too long. Also too wide..... This isn't going to work. Wheel offset was very close to working on the back but not quite. The body was pretty thick so i tried cheating and thinning down the fender well. Before After It wasn't enough, I needed more room. So I narrowed the frame in the rear.. Now we're talking... More soon!
  8. Edit: Oh Shoot, this should probably be in the truck threads.... Sorry Mods. This build was inspired by Larry Chen's Pro Touring C10R. I have had a Metal Lathe now for some time and use it solely for business. Thought it was time to "play" with it and see what I could come up with. A big part of the look would be the crazy deep dish wheels, so I grabbed a chunk of aluminium rod and went at it. Played around with a prototype (on the right) and came up with these... So now the fun begins. I knew I was going to be in for a challenge tucking these wheels under any body. Looked all through my parts boxes looking for a donor for a frame. The Scout frame was molded in and that wasn't going to work....
  9. Loving the Wide 5 VDub wheels!!
  10. Fantastic. I dont have them any more but the first builds I did I thought they were perfect as well. Only later did I find out how bad they really were.LOL
  11. Thanks guys. Lathe is a Craftex (Same machine is branded under different names as well) Mill Lathe combo but only the lathe was used and a dividing head. I am by no means a machinist. I get by. I bought this to be used for making jigs for my surface grinder. It has more than paid for it's self. I thought it was time to start "Playing" with this thing and have some fun with it. By mounting the drill in the chuck and offsetting the rim in the dividing head I can do the hole patterns.
  12. Played around with the Lathe today. Turned 4 slugs out and started messing around with a fifth (Prototype if you will). The tapering of the holes didn't work out how I wanted on the prototype. I will put back in the lathe and use an end mill to clean it up again. I think it has some potential. Going to spin up some center caps as well..
  13. You rocked this build. Love the VDubs!!!
  14. Wow what a beautiful set. Super clean work!
  15. LOL Jurgen I am in awe with your weathering Pavel. Weathering is in a completely different universe for me. I have a lot of respect for builders that pull it off so well as you have.
  16. The talent of the builders on this site is off the hook! Another fantastic build worthy of viewing many many times over.
  17. I can't believe you were able to do that many cars as you did. I do not have the attention span to build a trailer for a truck I built and here you loaded an entire car carrier. Very Cool!! A fantastic display!
  18. You are one very talented individual Jurgen. An absolute masterpiece you have done here. So beautiful to look at. Congrats!
  19. Wow guys, thank you so much. Projects like these are why I love the hobby so much. Come up with an idea and then do your best to make it happen.
  20. Built this back in 2007. Entered it into The Western Canadian Regional contest and took Best truck over all. It found its way into the Great Scale Modeling 2007 Magazine. My daughter and I were both at the contest. She took home best Junior model with her Herbie the Love bug VW beetle. We were across the fold in the magazine. One of those moments you will always cherish and never forget. This build was inspired by the rear tires on the sprayer. Had them sitting around, had no clue where they came from. Accidentally found that they fit a big rig rim perfectly. Found a toy monster truck and used those tires for the front tires. Scratch built sprayer. Plumbed and wired everything I could. First time ever weathering a model. Went for the dusty look.
  21. This is all I can find for images. I see the Terra tires, paddle tires ...... I know I would not have bought them unless I knew what they looked like..... https://www.google.ca/search?q=modelhaus+T702&espv=2&biw=1680&bih=925&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=h65tVYLQHZGoogSViIKwCg&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ#tbm=isch&q=modelhaus+tires
  22. I'm using Nascar rims with bead locks added. Rubber I got on line, can't remember where ;-( Edit... I found the box they came in, had a bunch of other cool tires I forgot I had.Paddle tires, Terra tires etc. Modelhaus is where I got them. Website is less than user friendly, no pictures on items. http://www.modelhaus.com/index.php?part=1
