  1. right back 'atcha!! i got today off, but not having the actual dinner until tomorrow night, as my wife has to work today, (she's not bumming, she is making double time & a half), and i get the treat of working tomorrow, as we normally have a 4 day weekend, but GM dealerships NEVER get to sleep on "black fridays"!!! chris coffey, Spokane, WA
  2. OOPS!! that is what i meant, Red Green. It was funny in that K-car show where he had the 2 halves "duct taped" together, and the ropes, pulleys and bungees working all the controls on the rear half of the car, and then something let go, and the car billows smoke!! Chris Coffey, Spokane, WA
  3. all i got to say is- WHAT THE HECK???? reminds me of an episode of a show that used to run up here in the Northwest called the "green & red" show. The show was a comedy-spoof show. The host showed everyone how to make an all wheel drive car by taking 2 good Chrysler K cars, cutting them in half, and mating the 2 front halves of the cars together. He used ropes and bungee cords to work the controls. It was absolutly histerical!! Chris Coffey, Spokane, WA
  4. Just read over on model roundup's model news that LA DART's "Wild Bill Shrewsberry" was in touch with Model King Dave about re-issuing the "LA DART" kit in all it's glory!! Nobody has heard from him in quite some time. From what i heard, he has been laying very low due to some shady situations from one of his wheelstander sales. Nonetheless, it will be awsome to have the model back WITH it's decals and all!! My uncle, who used to be a semi-popular Northwest Top Fuel driver, was real close buddies with Bill, and used to frequent our racetrack here in Spokane. I have also heard some absolute crazy things Wild Bill used to do. Chris Coffey, Spokane, WA
  5. VERY cool camaro F/C there Chris!! Do you suppose Slixx has had a run on Dick Harrell Nicky Chevrolet decals for this model?? I hope someone comes out with decals to make the Mr. T camaro funny car!! I gotta get me one or 2 of them kits. Thanks for sharing your pictures!! Chris Coffey, Spokane, WA
  6. nope, lived in Spokane, Wasington all my life, except for a stint in the ARMY, which kept me in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. The last couple times i went to Cali for the March Meet in Bakersfield, it rained out both times, so i try not to go, as to not spoil it!!! Thanks for asking though!! Chris Coffey
  7. WOW!! BOB PAETH!!?? THE BOB PAETH!!?? THE GEORGE BARRIS OF MODEL CARS!!?? what an honor to see you post on here!! i have heard so much about you and your work!! do you still live up in the Portland area?? if you ever get up here to Spokane WA area, it would be my absolute pleasure to meet up and take you out to lunch!! let me know!! Chris Coffey, Spokane, WA
  8. heck yes, hail the model king!! he has done more for our hobby in the last few years, then any of the manufacturers!! Do you really think AMT would have taken the time and money to restore so many of these cool models?? (maybe, maybe not!) The way i see it, from my point of view is Dave is doing this not for himself, (well, maybe a little) but he is doing this for US, the modelers who yearn for that cool Torino NASCAR, or for that cool Camaro F/C that we may not got when it was out. I myself, was a little skeptical when he released the Daddy Warbucks Falcon AWB, but at that time, i was unaware of what he was doing at the time, and i have grown REALLY fond of the kits he releases, 1970 pontiac bonneville and all!! I am giddier then a shool girl to see what he will be turning out for us in'08, pending on wether AMT will let him. I am already going ga-ga over the LA DART re-release!! I think i will wait until THAT comes out instead of buying the hemi hunter and trying to pull LA DART decals out of thin air. I too, will stock up on the Challenger F/C kits!! It also makes me wonder if Slixx decals has gotten busier with the decals due to the increase of released vintage drag kits? All i know is i had better work harder at work to get my upsell bonus so i can buy more kits, and on that matter, more Slixx decals!! YAY MODEL KING!! KEEP EM COMMING!!!! Chris Coffey, Spokane, WA
  9. thank you all for the generous compliments!!!! it really means alot to me to be complimented by such a awsome group of builders!! your guys work is a million steps better then mine!! i do have a fotki site,i ought to get it fired back up!! chris coffey, spokane, WA
  10. I have noticed the last few years the incredible decrease of new tooling for the late model drag cars. What gives?? is it a licensing issue? is it the diecast companies trying to choke us plastic builders out?? I wouldn't mind seeing some new late model kits, especially the F/C's and the pro stocks!! Chris Coffey, Spokane, WA
  11. i got the distinct pleasure of meeting Jairus and the Greggster at the last Nitromodels contest that Jeff Dykes put on there in Puyallup. Quite a couple of "huxters", comparable to tweedle-dee & tweedle dum. (ok, running like scared dog now!!) chris coffey, Spokane, WA
  12. The HHR is based off of the Cobalt platform (delta) just as the PT cruiser's platform is based off of the Neon platform. My closest guess would be to use the PT cruiser innards and chassis, as you will need to obviously do some minor tweaking to both components to make fit and appearence work. Might be better then trying to scratchbuild them!! HTH chris coffey, Spokane WA
  13. thank you so much for re-sizing it Bill!! once again, i sincerely applogize for the humungusness of my pictures, i am trying to learn how to shrink them. I am still reletively computer illiterate, and i need to work on getting them a little smaller. and thank you for the compliment, too!! Chris Coffey, Spokane, WA
  14. i recently aquired 2 "phantom" resin bodies from Jimmy Flintstone, and i gotta say, He has REALLY cleaned up his resin offerings. I am impressed!! i got a resin '08 camaro wagon body, and a Chrysler 300 wagon body. The camaro is very clean, and literally looks like they put a long top on the new camaro. The 300 has a 300 nose on it, but has the magnum rear on it. Both subjects are going to be way cool!! The Camaro is going to be of course, a blown crazy pro-mod, and i think the 300 is going to be some sort of wicked surf board haulin machine!! HEY JAIRUS!! HOWS ABOUT SOME COOL ARTIST RENDERINGS OF THESE SUBJECTS!!!! (wink wink) chris coffey, spokane WA
  15. Hey Fred!! long time, no email!! yes, i was a MCL'er, haven't been for a while. I am still a member of Drastics & Adrenaline drag racing. I am also a member of a jillion other ones, but keeping track of 300 plus emails got to be a chore. I sure am glad i joined up here!! chris coffey, spokane WA
  16. oh good!! thanks so much for the heads up on Altered states Dave!! i am not sure where i heard that Chuck was hanging it up from, need to find out and bawl them out for it!!! chris coffey, spokane, WA
  17. this is an origional AMT 1960 corvette 6 in 1 kit. I really liked the "gasser" look they had on the box, so i took mine a little further into a rip snort gasser. I cut the front suspension clean off, and fitted a nose high gasser front end from the 40 willys kit from AMT. I then moved to the back, raised it a little and fitted the ladder bars from the smae kit on the rear. The Cragers and skinny slicks are parts box. The motor is a little insane, it is the (olds??) from the AMT 40 willys kit, with a plumbed hilborn injectors from some other kit (darn my feeble mind!) The paint is HOK Gamma gold, with 3 coats of Kandy Rootbeer for the main body, and 2 coats of Cinnamon pearl in the side coves. I was really trying to go for period piece, somewhere in the late 1960's-mid 1970's. Other then a really warped body, this car came out fairly decent! Chris Coffey, Spokane WA
  18. Welcome Brian!! i am new here too, as of last night. I think you will fit in quite nicely here, just as i am!! chris coffey, spokane, WA

We encourage ANYONE from the inland northwest region to come and check us out!! We have club members who come from as far away as Moses Lake WA, and West Richland, near the tri-cities!! If you would like more info on our club, call Chris Coffey @ (509)292-9695. thanks for reading!!
  20. i don't know if anyone has brought it up at all recently, ( i appologize if it has, blame it on the newbie!) But does Okey have ANY future plans on re-releasing any of the cool old Johan funny cars, like the pinto, mustang, or challenger funnies?? or how about any of the other neato kits he did, like the 63 olds starfire, or the Sox & Martin superbird drag car? i am a little out of the loop with the Johan thing, and maybe someone on here who really got to talk with Okey could enlighten me?? thanks much!! chris coffey, spokane, WA
  21. thanks for the welcome guys!! i can tell i am already going to like it here!! this is the first forum where i am able to show pictures of my work!!! So dave!! do you make it to the model car sunday shows?? Is Vince still running the show?? or is Dennis Pierce still running it?? Dennis and Vince are both great guys, love to help them with the show whenever i can make it over there!! chris coffey
  22. i have been slowly working away on the revell Cadillac STS lowrider thingie with the lambo style doors. I really didn't care for the overall ride hieght of it, so i got it as close to the ground as possible, and just for kicks, i cut apart and swapped the trunk hinge so it would open the opposite way. I shot it house of kolor gamma gold base, and then shotkandy oriental blue over it. i got some rubbing out to do, along with some final assembly, and i can scratch it off my list!! i appologize of my picture is too big, i haven't had much luck with getting pictures to post on forums, so please forgive me!!
  23. holy cow Aaron!!! i totally forgot about the master!!!! duh!! I bet if i got some detailed pictures of Brendan's car, and if i can find someone who is really good at scratchbuilding, beings i supplied them with what they may need, we could do up a master, and find a resin caster that could make this thing happen!!! As far as the "young american" FED, i think, if my mind doesn't fail me, it was otherwise Altered States, or Fremont Specialties that did the chassis. However, i think they are both out of buisness. thanks so much for the info!! chris coffey
  24. Thanks Rob!! at this juncture, i will take ANY advice i can!! Seems the paint shops around my down are fairly anal about parting with nothing less then a quart of clear and a pint of hardner. I can ask if they would, what is the least they will tell me, NO?? chris coffey
  25. ok, i know i am not the only drag race model builder who yearns for one, just one, resin caster to create some resin offerings of the current VRA front engine fuelers that are currently running. I have been trying to replicate one as we speak, but it is very weak at best. I actually crew with Brendan Murry's "running wild" fueler when he makes the Northwest swing, and could probably get in touch with him pertaining ANY pictures or dimemsions of his car. His car is a Sterling chassis. He could possibly hook me up with info for me to get in touch with most the other VRA TF/FED guys if this is a possibility. Please, HEED OUR CRIES!!! or just tell me to beat it.. just kidding.. chris coffey
