Had this kit banging around in my collection for a long time before I found a !/20 Williams that was suitable for the conversion. Body isd a Bill Jorgensen resin conversion and the decals are IndyCals. Adapting the engine to the tub was the most tedious as it required much grinding and carving. Front suspension has re-worked coil over shocks and a new lower mounting point. Paint is Tamiya TS14 gloss black. Kit supplied the tires, rear wheels, engine and driver figure. In my opinion this was one of the best looking F-1 cars. Its a shame somebody like Tamiya never made a kit of it. I looked at a couple resin kits of this car but this one was the best.

Excellent build. Did a couple myself. These are great kits and you certainly did it justice.

Great job! All of those aero pieces look like they would have been a challenge to put on the model.
Indeed they were....I have a special way of attaching them.

Thanks Bruce....I was amazed at how many there were. A lot of fussy fiddling to get them all on and straight looking.

Just off the workbench. Tamiya 1/20 Ferrari F60 formula one. Mostly box stock some extgra decals from Tabu. Paint is Gravity colors GC 294Ferrari Nuovo Rosso. This is a 3 part system consisting of a silver basecoat, clear red color coat and clear to finish. Iniatially this came out a little too orange to suit my taste so I mixed in some Tamiya clear red to the clear top coat. This kit went together like a dream with only a slight adjustment necessary to the center body panel behind the roll bar. Everything snapped snugly into place after that. Body fit was amazing. Thanks for looking.

I have this kit, but I have not built it because I can not decide if I want to build it clear, or paint the whole thing.
Well....there is how they both look. The kit you have has decals for both so I guess its your decision. Enjoy the build and I hope this has provided you with some incentive.

Very nice figure Dan. An excellent compliment to a beautiful model. And, of course, we all know that the Stig is Michael Schumacher in disguise.

Good job, like the color.

I have two others done with the clearveiw and it is nice to have next to the original. All the detail we painstakingly go through is visible through the body without having to dis-assemble the kit to do so. Thank you for the compliment.

Just off the bench. This is actually a re-visit of a kit I did about thirty years ago. Only this time it has a clear body. Since the original was done as Niki Lauda i chose to do this one with his team mate John Watson. Went the extra yard on the engine since it will be visible. Added fuel lines, oil and water. Detailed up the driver figure and vacuum formed a new visor. Main body color is Tamiya TS-8 and the tub was covered in aluminium stickers supplied with the kit. Nice to be able to do an old kit over and do it better this time. Don't varnish over decals any more as it turns the white ones yellow with age. See the photo

Nice Job Scott. Thanks for putting this up Gary. Always a pleasure seeing Scotts handiwork.

I have seen this model before. Soooooo...you are the builder. Very impressive. I will check it out. And thanks for the encouragement...Regards Rich

Thanks for following, Rich, i'm glad you're liking it! I too wish all models had posable steering. Its not really that annoying to me if they don't....surprisingly, i'd just prefer it. What DOES get under my wick though, is when a kit DOES have posable steering, but the design of the wheel wells is too tight to let them turn!!…..especially when you spend $95 on the kit, and its a curbside!!! As much as I love Fujimi kits, the Lamborghini Reventon kits steering?....gets on my wick!! Depending on the kit, my motivation, and my mood at the time, dictates whether or not I fix the issues of kits, and in the case of my current build....the Reventon, I will just leave it alone. For my Lotus, I didn't really care too much about posable steering, probably due to the fact that I just got done with a year-long, insane build of the Pagani Huayra. What I DID decide to do to its suspension however, was to lower it a bit. I don't necessarily think the right height is that bad, but I just wanted a lower look. I think what you have done there is VERY cleaver, and looks great!!…..maybe you will post more photos of them?!….these don't get seen much often, due to the horrible fit issues.
Thanks for the reply and the compliments. I am with you on the wheel wells. I have carved many a body (especially resin) in order to get the wheels to steer properly. I have that Pagani Huayra and plan to put this little beauty in the seat. I have done some preliminary fitting of the body and chassis but the kit is very daunting. I am not easily intimidated by a kit but this is one of them. I have moods too and maybe I can get the incentive to dive into. I have plenty of kits that will require a lot of engineering. A real modeler will dig into it and can turn a sow's ear ear into a decent model. I applaud your efforts on that Monogram Lotus. Its coming along quite nicely.

Dan......have followed your posts on this kit. I have two of these in progress and a lot of your mod are impressive. One of my pet peeves on models is the wheels never steer. Here is my modification to the front suspension of the kit you are working on. The rubber boots are silicone tubing turned in a moto-tool. The rest is pretty straight forward. Mine are already painted and awaiting final assembly but I may add a lot of the mods to the interiors you have. Yours is looking very good.....Regards Rich
PS..took some digging to find these...it was done 10/21/2009

Great job! I just bought a couple of Ebbro Tyrrell's from the early 70's. Looking forward to building a couple of race cars that Jackie Stewart drove.
Keep an eye out on here. I built both of those and am planning on posting pictures. Did both of them at once and it saved me some time.

WOW!!! Great work on that one. My understanding is Ebbro is kinda a offshoot of Tamiya.....and why they share some tooling. Nice stuff.
Wouldn't surprise me. Modelers (yah... I have one of those too) was Mr Tamiya's daughter. . Thanks for the compliment.

This is my first Ebbro kit and i must say i was very impressed with the detail and fit and finish. I did add some extra detailing but not as much as I could. Color is Tamiya TS43 Racing Green. Frame is a custom mix light grey. All of the parts fit as advertised with the exception of the cowl. This had to be pinned on and if you look closely you can see them although they were painted to match the body color. I have since cone other Ebbro kits and enjoyed them very much. The quality is there. Have others on this forum experienced the same

Hi, Thanks for the add to the group. Not new to modeling by any means. Started in 1964 and haven't quit yet. Have accumulated a very large collection over the years as I very rarely get rid of anything I build. Have been involved in almost every aspect of this hobby including organizing shows and hosting build sessions. All modeling interests me but my first passion is cars and specifically road racing and exotic cars. Have built a variety of scales but stick mostly to 1/12, 1/20 and 1/24. Also race slot cars and have had a group continuosly since 1973. Probably know a few names on this forum since I am a member of a couple of others. But I am always looking to make new friends here. Looks like a good active group....thanks again....Rich
