  1. This was a nice kit to build . Black interior didn't make for good photos , so we left them out . Lots of chrome trim .
  2. Under the hood . Had a little trouble with breather decal . I liked the clear windshield-washer jug on this kit .
  3. Only issue we had was the tire fit-up was a bit to close to outside body wheel wells. That was probably my mistake .
  4. We built this after our GTX which we featured here . Nice kit , went together ok . Lots of chrome .
  5. Flames are excellent on that . How does one go about contacting Crazy Modeler to get some info ? Thanks .
  6. Thank You for the feedback on the build . The molded hoses under the hood were tricky to paint . I picked up a battery detail kit by Detail Masters but I wasn't sure how I could use it with the battery that was molded in this kit . We'll save it for something later . Great to be back in the hobby again . How things have changed .
  7. And there we have it . It was a fun build . I'm 62 now and I haven't built anything since I was in elementary school . So I'm still on the learning curve . My lovely wife did the work to resize the images Enjoy ! Robert.
  8. Bare Metal Foil . Our camera isn't too good for close-up shots .
  9. Under the hood view with resin carbs and intake . Battery , hoses , windshield washer jug were all molded in one piece into "body" . We added the hose on passenger side . I think we used Detail Master plugwires and dist. cap.
  10. Colour was Vallejo Air , can't remember exactly which one .
  11. We found this kit in a Second Hand Store . Missing intake/carbs . Replaced with resin parts . This is our second build after getting back into the hobby . Decals had deteriorated so I airbrushed the stripe on the side and hood . Not sure how old this kit is , box was in really bad shape .
  12. Yes, That's the kit we're working on . Trying to match the box art . Thanks to Tom in PA for sending us a replacement sheet and lending a hand . Robert.
  13. Thanks for replies. We have Tamiya thinner, so we'll use that . We airbrushed a few test spoons with our colour , we'll spray them up and see what results we get . Sunday night and we're getting walloped with a snow storm !!
  14. We have some X-22 Tamiya Clear , 1/3 oz. bottle . Wondering if we'll have to thin this out before we airbrush ? Will we see a difference using this as opposed to TS-13 Tamiya Clear aerosol ? Thanks. Robert.
  15. We finally got them off !! What a job . Amazing how fragile they were during application but how tough they were trying to get them off . I thought they might have become brittle with age but I don't think this kit is all that old . AMT '71 Duster 340 ,AMT1118M/12 . Any one know when this kit was released ? It was a learning experience .
  16. I need the side stripes . There was a set of black stripes and a set of white . I used the white . Painting the car Tamiya X-14 Sky Blue , trying to match the box art so I don't think the black would like right . If someone has an extra set that'd be great . I couldn't believe how fragile these were , how easy they came apart , even sliding them off the backing paper onto the car they split in a number of places .
  17. I forgot to ask when I posted earlier , is there a company that would stock decals for the '71 340 Duster , such as Detail Masters, etc ? Thank You . Robert.
  18. The decals for my '71 340 Duster tore in a number places and I have to start over . Any suggestions as to how I remove these ? I'm having lots of trouble . Robert.
  19. Colour Sand : Dropping into our local Lee Valley I noticed these Micro-Mesh Cushioned Abrasive pads with the colour coded chart to match the corresponding abrasive pads . Great product , we'll give them a go , see what happens .
  20. Thanks for the advice everyone . I'll put that link on our favourites bar for future reference . I was wondering how I would tackle that blacked out hood . espo , you mention , after the high gloss black , to "colour sand and polish " . What is the colour sand and could I use Tamiya Polishing Compound ? Flat Clear on a high gloss paint , I gotta try that out . Thanks again all !! Robert.
  21. Yikes!! I hope the hobby shop owner doesn't check out the forum during some down time and see this. 51 Euros translates into around 78$ CDN . I'll be banished from the shop, relegated to shopping the limited model supply at Michaels. I've never heard of Wespe before . Thanks for the reply and link . Robert.
  22. Hello . I'm sure the following has been asked many times before . I'm about to do my last wet coat on the '71 Duster by AMT and I'm confused as to the sequence of decal application , polishing , wax , clear coat . I picked up Tamiya Polishing Compound : Coarse , Fine , Finish . I've got my Tamiya Wax , Micro Sol and Micro Set for my decals and my Clear Coat . Problem is , sometimes I think I'm buying products that I may not need and I'm starting to get frustrated with poor results . I'm in my 60's and I just got back into model building as a retirement hobby . More fun than building bird houses . Help ! Robert .
  23. Thanks Mark . That would be, wash parts with soap and water , rinse , let dry , do any sanding and then proceed with our Primer . Robert.
  24. Our local hobby shop had a kit for sale which was brought in by someone . It was on the ," Odds & Ends", table . Wespe Models Opel Super 6 , 1\35 scale . 10$ CDN. Seemed like a good buy . Everythings inside , all shrinkwrapped , never opened . Instructions are in Romanian , should be fun . This kit appears to be resin . Can I primer and paint this with Tamiya ? I've had some difficulty airbrushing Vallejo in the past so I've stuck with Tamiya. Thanks. Robert.
  25. Thanks for tips/suggestions . Unfortunately hobby shop had applied their oversize price sticker on English instructions for clean up . Peel back reveals what I need to know. I think we can tie this thread off . Thanks again.
