  1. If you have one of mine that needs a grinder, send it back, you got a bad one, and I'll replace it. Ours is only about 40thou thick, at it's thickest point.
  2. but all the work is from the firewall back, so it's just a knock off. I could put that front end on ours in about 10 minutes. And I Think I will.
  3. Oh good, it's not me. I couldn't figure out what was missing.
  4. The Kawasaki green you want is number 89907, and you'll need to order it from your hobby shop. It is not a regular color. From Tamiya's web site. "In conjunction with the release of ITEM 14109 1/12 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-RR assembly kit, Tamiya announces this limited edition TS Spray Paint color. With close cooperation from the Kawasaki Racing Team, Tamiya has developed this new color, which is an even closer match to the color used on the actual bike?s livery. "
  5. caustic soda, Sodium Hydroxide, also known as Lye. Active ingredient in Easy-Off. Will strip any type of paint. Haven't tried it on resin though
  6. I don't think anyone is critizing either kit. I just found the engraving to be shaper on the Revell kit. For what the Revell kit is(snap) great kit, and I think a good kit for a kid to build, or a great place to start for a bigger project. I guess I could wonder over to the next town and take a look at one. They've built several already in the set-up shop.
  7. Are you referring to the Revell kit?
  8. Mine are fine, sharp, no sink marks at all.
  9. Got this into the shop this week. At first glance, it looks good. Can be built stock, or modern custom(bling wheels) Separate chrome (very good chrome I might add), opening hood, and trunk. 348/409 motor, with stock, and custom parts. It's 1/25th. Body is molded in white with no visible sink marks. They have made a new plug for the inside of the mold, it doesn't have the slab sides that we've seen in the past in other kit done based on diecast. It has separate hood, and trunk. All of the chrome trim is cast separate, and looks to be very nice(may be fun getting off the sprue, very fine in places). We get a straight rear bump, as well as a continental rear bump. Skirts are optional, and nicely done. Head lights are multi piece(maybe not a good idea, I'm missing one of the head light buckets) with really nice separate head light trim. Tail light are molded in clear red, and clear for back-up, they come with their own plated trim. Windows are spilt with separate front and rear. Interior has a base plate that runs from the front to the rear of the car, includes the trunk area, and the engine compartments front inner fenders(these look a little odd, but may look right once the other parts are added to it, i.e. Outer fenders) The base of the rear seat is molded in to the floor, with separate seat back. The front seat is a bench style. The seats seem a little soft on engraving, but include decals for the seat pattern. The dash has several decals for gages, and separate steering column, and very fine wheel. Door pad engraving looks good. The motor looks to be a 348. Engraving on this is a little soft, not very sharp, and details like bolts are missing. It has a 3 deuce set-up for carburetors, and comes with separate air cleaners, set-up looks to be small, . They have done the “rams horn†styled exhaust headers, with the heat shields molded on. Radiator looks good with a 2 piece fan shroud. There is a nice set of custom valve covers, along with stock ones. The chassis looks good with “X†frame molded in. It has separate front and rear suspension pieces, as well as stock exhaust. Can be built at 2 ride heights, fixed steering. 2 different wheel sets are supplied in this kit, stock, and bling(which are not too bad, just big) The stock hub caps look right, with very fine line engraving, and separate spinners. Stock tires are 2 piece with white wall inserts. The bling rims a directional, with no profile tires. Over all not too bad for a kit with it’s diecast heritage. Think I may need to build one white, with some red ascents
  10. Got these into the shop last week. Body with a separate rear spoiler, and separate mirrors molded in silver. Hood is molded shut, as this is from their Snap-Tite series. Head lights, and front marker lights are molded in clear, with chrome back grounds. Tail lights are molded in clear red. I have the AMT version as well, and something hits me as more true to the Revell version, just seems shaper. Molding is very good, but still suffers some minor sink marks. Nothing sanding won't take care of. Molded in black, the interior tub comes with rear seat molded in. Separate door panels, front seats, shifter, steering wheel, and dash with stickers for gages. Engraving is very sharp. Looks correct for pictures I have. The chassis, molded in black is very basic, but again with good engraving. One thing they added to this kit I like is well engraved separate disc brakes, missing in most snap kits. Rims are sharply engraved, with good chrome. Tires have good tread pattern (well at least different), but there is no side wall detail. Once again, the only real short coming to this kit is "sticker", I'd be much happier with water slide decals. They do included stripes in black, think I'll be lifting these from the AMT kit. It's a very simple kit, but between the 2, I think I'll be building this one. The hood fits, and I'm not sure AMT didn't just guess on the details under the hood in their kit anyhow.
  11. Hey Fred, send me your address, I got the perfect tires for ya.
  12. 15 years ago?? You were a little ahead of the coming trends. Very nice.
  13. They're out in Canada too, got them in the shop today. Very nice kit, may need to clear the bench for this one.
  14. It's a curbside. It is a nice kit, but if you want to build Herbie, I'd use the body from Polarlights. The heavy window posts that no one likes in the PL kit are correct, the earlier cars had smaller windows. I'm using the PL body with the Tamiya runner gear, and trim to build a my '59. I'm just trying to figure out how to get it all together to make it work, there is a slight difference is size. I'm use the Hasagawa kit to build my '66. I have both in the driveway, and it's surprising the little differences.
  15. Very nice concept, I always liked the AMXs. One of the more over looked cars.
  16. Not only did they have door panels, they had fully functional windows. The entire body was acid dipped, early in the year the vinyl tops on the Camaros were structural, roof was a little thin.
  17. Yep. it's the "Big Bruiser" Had one as a child. Do see them at toy shows for around a hundred. Had a lot of fun with mine as a kid. Here's a link http://cgi.ebay.com/Marx-24-Highway-Wrecke...1QQcmdZViewItem
  18. You may be right Rick. Both Ron. and Bill were people I made a point of talking to every year at Toledo. They will both be missed by many.
  19. Bill Burns passed away a few months ago. He had closed up the Markham Rd. store last summer, and opened at a new smaller location at St.Clair, and Kingston Rd.
  20. OK, yes that is a problem. I think it may be the way the resin cured, pulled it out of shape at the window posts. I have 2 copies, the same as yours, and one of his very early ones with the open hood, they both have that wave. I was just going to cut the window frame lose, and push them back into place.
  21. The curved body line is correct, it just doesn't jump out at you until you work on one of these cars. Last summer I had 4 of them in my driveway, I'm down to 2 now. This one, and a beater.
  22. This is why I don't biuld NASCARS. What Izzy said. Nice!!!
  23. Looks good Kenny. Didn't know you had that much stuff already.
  24. Maybe he should just get it buffed, and clear coated .
