Gee, they're so nice looking when they are new. I'm not even sure what colour my pot is anymore.

I think you maybe reading too much into it. Our hobby is enter level, what it becomes is up to us. Don't see too many kids coming into a hobby shop for the first time and getting R/C. They generally start with something low cost to get their feet wet.

Very Nice! Has a very formal feel to it.

Very nice!!! Looks good without the side trim. Where did the rims come from? Ya got a 3quarter front?

info needed on resin part(s)
Randy replied to jbwelda's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Well I think that's what you'll need to do. Resin won't live under that weight. Your only other option would be to get someone to machine one for you. -
This is one of my summer drivers, for fun days. Awful little cars. < < < < < < < < < < Needs a lot of TLC, but we should have it as done as it's going to be by the end of this summer. My summer daily driver. Picked up this '94 Caprice wagon from a 90 year old WWII war vet with 272,000km on it. He traded it in, wanted a smaller car. The car was near new, requiring very little work. His wife told me it was getting a little ratty, couldn't find a thing wrong with it, you could have eatin' off the motor. Took it up to the VetteWorks the week we got it for the black paint, and few minor changes. They removed and filled the rocker panels, and did a general once over. Then it was down to Connery Custom Paint for the flames, then back up to the VetteWorks for the candy, clear coat, and final sanding. We then dropped the car 2" in the front, and 3" in the rear, tinted the glass, and got the stereo(kids figured it needed that) These are great cars, maybe one that got over looked. Comes with an LT1 stock, and R700. Gets 30 miles to the gallon on the highway, and I can put an 8'X4' piece of plywood in the back, and close the door. We put 27,000km on it the first 4 months we had it on the road. This may be the most fun car I've had. I've got a not so nice version of it for winter driving too, I just like these cars. And hey, it's not a minivan 2 of my old daily drivers are waiting in the wings for restoration. A '68 Firebird convert(my first car), and a '66 GTO(biggest car I could find after I got run over in my Mini). How that I have a real job, it will be a little harder to find time for them. But we'll get there.

StraightlineModelrs reputation...
Randy replied to Diggerit's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I was asked to Put an End to this: No, Don's Barton was mastered by Don Fahrni. The Perry's Resin Barton intake was mastered by Bud Lefevre. They are different, from different masters. Perry's has separate runners. Bud's frustration comes from everyone doing things that are already done. -
I've picked up a few pieces since Ed jr took over. I have the 33 Willys pick-up, which I was really happy with. Very nice casting, no voids, or pin holes, and straight. The shape seems to be right on, and several of the things that always bug me about the AMT kit have been fixed. As this is one of Ed's first kits, can't wait to see what else he'll be doing. The other one I got is one he cast from his Dad's line, a '64 Malibu 4dr. Again very nice casting, with very little clean up. Now I just need to convert is to a '65, I see the "Repo Man" coming.

Perry's has the shaker hood, and we have the rest of the car. It will be up on the web site shortly. The complete body, with interior has already been in production for 2 years (boy that went by fast). Showed for the first time the last time we were at NNL East. http://www.perrysresin.com/catalog/cat_hoods.htm

That is a real cool idea. Nice Job!!!

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN: Presenting my weekend racing toy!
Randy replied to ismaelg's topic in Model Cars
I don't think I want to finish mine now, very nice!!! As always. -
Andy What do you use for a top/clear coat for plating?
-
nice build!!! I own a '66 <<< it's in the picture.
-
Well the "pimples" are from the bubbles collapsing in the silicon when you add pressure. Andy's method works be cause has made the molds under pressure and they are returning to their correct size when he pressurizes for the resin pour.

Got that out of storage last night, hope winter is over The bug is still up there.
-
Picked that up last simmer pat. Runs good, but I need to bring it up to date. I have a narrowed beam, disc brakes, and Radars to go on it. I also found a good parts car for a stock interior, and steering wheel. Interior is in, just need to change the wheel. Body is not too bad for a Canadian car, but will need a once over at some point, but I can live with whats there now, maybe a hood ride . It's a '66 by the way, had the model.
-
Yes, Bob is correct. Vacuum the silicon after mixing. You need to pull about 1 atmosphere (28bar?), make sure your vessel is at least 5 times bigger in volume. Then pour the silicon into your mold box in 1 corner and let the silicon fill from the bottom.

Minidreams saves a 61 impala promo !
Randy replied to david@Minidreams inc.'s topic in WIP: Model Cars
I like the Caprice that is going on in the back ground. 4dr is a nice too, but hey I like odd cars. -
Second model eh? I need to find a new hobby. Very nice!!!
-
Looks like you have a handle on your lathe now, really nice.
-
Very nice Jared!!! I need to make those same tail lights for my build. Love the rag, much nicer than the chunk of plastic that comes in the kit.
-
Well it nice to see you have one stand out on your shelf. He did a great job. Guess you'll need to get 2 next time for the both of them.

Congratulation on winning the Perry's Pick at the NNL Detroit with the '39 Steven. Pictures do this model no justice. If you get a chance to see this model at a show, make sure you check it out. Let me know when the castings of it are for sale, cuz' I need to build my own. I Wouldn't need to if ya just let me take that one home. Wonderful Model Steve.
