  1. used 'skinny tires' in front because the kit tires looked like low profile tires which were not available back then. i should have cut out the mufflers but am getting lazy(i'm 72) i tinted the windows with floor wax & food coloring which came out fair- i need some more practice. blower belt tensioner is hanging in mid air but over all its a nice kit. i sanded off quarter panel chrome, trimed inner fender wells so the resin headers i bought on ebay would fit nice. thanks for looking.n 1964, the Cragar Equipment Company achieved some of their greatest success by offering custom wheels with chrome-plated steel rims with an aluminum center, which racing teams and fans thoroughly enjoyed.Nov 8, 2023
  2. yes it's the AMT kit but the suspension .and exhaust are molded into the frame.
  3. thanks gentlemen . got ideas from these scca cars and there is actually decals on the net for the penske car
  4. built one oob and another race- who doesnt like a split window ?
  5. unlike Speedpro's beautiful roadster this one is box stock. lots of extra parts with this kit. i did have to notch rad support support as the blower belt sat on top of it in stead of behind it. hardest part for me was fitting the wheels into the tires . was a tight fit. have not decided on color of body or interior yet.
  6. https://www.racingsportscars.com/photo/Sebring-1963-03-23.html did a search and learned there was a 12 hour sebring race in 1963. 12 hour races actually started in march 1952 (one month before i was born !!) BTW it's an AMT split window
  7. yes the vent windows needed trimming and i bought decals online a few years back as i needed A/G .A/GS ect. for some gassers i was building but forgot where i got them. i'll do a search for them. gofer decals ,hobbylink, model car round up
  8. is rather a simple kit mainly because the suspension & exhaust are molded into the chassis and interior is all one piece, i don't care for that so i'm building my second kit completely stock. tires & wheels from parts box , exhaust from ebay. thanks for looking.
  9. thank you for your reply. i'm going to look for some black colored brush on makeup! i've used shades of brown on my vintage dirt track cars that worked very well i think.
  10. how does a person (me) apply road/exhaust dirt to a model ? i've seen a few on this forum that look real nice and real. is it airbrushed on ? i do not have an airbrush yet.
  11. how to apply road/exhaust dirt to a model car ? i've seen several on this forum and i'm guessing it's done with an airbrush, which i do not have. thanks for any replys.
  12. started this and a split window vette last winter. finished the 32 today. will do the split window as a SCCA CAR. watched a u tube vid on how to channel interior to drop the body.
  13. just did some research and found out some builders actually put wrong class letters on their cars but maybe Galpin had a supercharged engine at one time or was in process of putting one in ? S or AA = supercharged
