"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!

Do you have any issues with the red plastic bleeding through the paint, the hood of my 67 vette has a red hugh, and I believe it's from the plastic being cast in red, but I don't know how to fix this problem, I tried to catch it in pics as best I could, in person it's very noticeable -

Thanks, I was a bit worried about the frame when I saw all of the old glue damage, but most of it was covered up by the suspension, I took your advice on the front end and did some minor filling on the fender sides, after grinding off the goofy humps at the front, doesn't look as good as the coupe front end but does look 100 times better than the box stock body. -

Got the body primed, and the front fenders reshaped enough to look smoother, then wet sanded the body again, I painted inside of the body flat black then the outside with dupli-color bahama blue, which is pretty close to marina blue, I then clear coated it with PPG concepts 2024 clear, after that dried I sanded the body again with 1500 and applied the stinger stripe decal. Then recleared the body one last time. -

Thank you, I used rust-oleum dark cherry with matte clear then rubbed the seats with a little bit of canola oil after they dried for a few days, the biggest problem I had from that was trying to get the BMF to stick to the trim, I figure next time I'll do that part before the oil lol -

Finished the engine up, I was able to use most of the original engine with exception to the intake and carb/ air cleaner, I took those parts from an old 68 L-88 2n1, the chassis is mostly complete now only thing left of it is the master cylinder and brake booster. All in all this car is going pretty smooth with only a couple old glue gobs getting in the way -

Got the engine built and wired, the dash is almost complete, next is polishing the body and about 100 trim pieces, think I'm going to strip the chrome and redo it in gloss black maybe some alclad II black chrome on the bumpers -

I got quite a bit done one the interior, I went with a flat metallic blue to mimic the bright blue from 67, might not be exact but I like it, I did the seats and door panels in white, and was able to save the original steering wheel, I thought it was done for from the amount of glue holding it in place originally. One thing about L-88 cars is they had no radio's so I carefully sanded that away with some nail files, doing my best not to damage the dash pads around it, after all that I'm very pleased with the results, now on too the engine and chassis -

I agree, that is a beautiful car, I've got a 67 resto-mod still in the planning stages I hate to sacrifice a coupe kit since they seem to be getting rare but that might be what's required since I've already robbed the engine, wheels and brakes from a revell 2006 Z06, -

I dropped it in some purple power overnight and the body stripped down to the bare plastic, the rest of the car is still marinading, but I think I'm going to build this as an L-88, I've got a couple old 68 revell 2n1 kits I can rob some parts from, and as far as color goes I'm wanting to do white/blue interior with marina blue exterior w/ white stinger stripe. The body needs alot of work to fix the front end, I think I'm going to do a minor reshape of the fenders and save most of my patients for another day lol. Other than that there's a few glue scars from where the windshield was originally put on and the top was glued down at one point. -

Sounds good, I'm in -
I picked this car up a while ago, it was pretty much complete with the exception of a few trim parts, but is in need of some attention, I wanted a barn find kinda finish for a diorama I'm building, but this car was in pretty good condition under the old paint, so I figured I would restore it instead, plus I really want to use a 67 coupe in the diorama, the body of the coupe just looks a bit more realistic than the roadsters do, anyways here's what I'm starting with
