  1. So true. So many things that we were accustomed to as kids have gone to the way side and are oblivious to today's youth. The Service station alert bell, the rotary phone, and tv rabbit ears to name a few. My dad also sported the curb finders on his cars back in the day. fond memories..
  2. What started out as my pessimistic irk, turned out out for the better but wasn't cheap. The wife's 2008 Equinox with only 85,000 miles was producing a faint slapping noise that could be felt by our feet. It ended up being the frame mount on the drivers side where the engine cradle attaches. It was rotted and barely holding together causing the slapping noise. I took it to a restoration/frame shop and had it repaired properly with much thicker and stronger american steel opposed to the junk metal being used by GM. The rest of the frame is in great condition. So a warning to any one out there with a 2007 to 2014 Equinox as I was told, inspect that area on your vehicle especially if you can feel or hear any noises under your feet. I would imagine that it's not just the Equinox model effected by this.
  3. Rust, rot and corrosion 🤬 Currently, I'm in the mist of having my wife's 2008 Equinox at a restoration/frame shop to repair the rusted rot that's eaten away where the engine cradle bolts to the frame mounts. The drivers side is dang near apart and the passenger side is not as bad but needs replaced also. Unfortunately GM doesn't have replacement parts, junkyards from Maryland to West Virginia has nothing usable so the mounts have to be made. We lost a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero with very low mileage in 2022 due to undercarriage corrosion causing the repairs to be far more than what the car was worth. IMO, the cheap foreign metals in used in the vehicles and the corrosive materials that are applied to the roads are the culprits to this rash of vehicle deterioration. Especially the pre-treating method of using liquid brine before a snowfall, that my state has been using. It slings up and clings to everything. Don't get discouraged, it could always be worse. Yeah, I'm a pessimistic. That way I'm never let down..
